hung's garden chinese food restaurant

d had the opportunity to visit hung’s garden  (1565 regent ave. w.) a multi generation owned restaurant over a decade ago, at its former location.  even though the physical location of the restaurant has changed, he remembered that the food was delectable and that had not altered.  the place was bustling with hungry fans after an afternoon jets game.  we were fortunate to get one of the last empty tables.  there was a large group assembling in the corner for a birthday party.  the restaurant is beautifully appointed and would be fitting for a casual dinner or a celebration of this kind.   the menu includes an extensive offering of szechwan dishes and we saw a number of sizzling platters being delivered to surrounding tables. we opted to share a huge bowl of deluxe wonton soup.  we thought that the broth needed to be punched up by a couple of shakes of soya sauce but the vegetables were al dente and delicious.  the shrimp were plump and the barbeque pork was tender, but the best part wa

cold rice. we had in the past went to hung's and enjoyed the food and today went for supper for our anniversary. well the rice was cold and the chicken balls had way too much batter and very little chicken. we were hungry so started eating our supper even with the cold fried rice and my husbands vegetables were cold. finally when the waitress came to ask how everything was we advised her the rice was cold and all she could offer was to warm it up for us. if we wanted microwave heated food we would have stayed home. she said to us "you should have told me the rice was cold right away" guess she expected us to chase her around the restaurant to find her to tell her with our plate of food. she could of at least offered to bring us a hot bowl of rice but nothing nor did they offer a little discount. we won't be frequenting here again nor would we recommend the place. we always went to this restaurant even when they were located by the louise bridge and have always had nice hot food. maybe different owners and cooks now. they lost our business.

consistent. menu is more awesome than buffet.we have eaten there for over 10 years. calm atmosphere, friendly staff and fast efficient kitchen. yummy!

good lunch buffet if you are in the area and always on time for pick up if you are ordering take out. standard chinese fare and good quality clean dining. no complaints but nothing that really stands out from the rest either. that being said, i have come back for more.... :)

we ordered from hung's over the holiday's. their dumplings are great (4 to an order) and will have to order two or three orders next time as everyone wanted more. the other dishes were good, a few came with accompanying dips and sauces. the price is higher and the servings are smaller compared to other places in the area but a good place for chinese if your willing to pay extra.

our "go to" for chinese food in the area simply because their food quality is consistently excellent! i crave their kung pao on a regular basis. their veggies are always colourful, fresh and crunchy. would have given a higher rating if it wasn't for their prices which are higher than comparable restaurants in the area.

what kind of chinese place charges for fortune cookies????. we have ordered from here twice and both times the food has been good. it's a little expensive in my opinion but we may be typical of chinese places in the city. the thing that bugs me is that they don't include fortune cookies with your order. we spent $70 and ordered 6 dishes and they can't even include fortune cookies?? we likely will order elsewhere next time.

worst chinese food. our work facility ordered from hungs for a 100 days of safety, and by far this was the worst chinese meal everyone
had tasted. the chicken balls had no meat and tasted tough, like made the day previously, the beef dish
was also discusting, no flavour, noodles also. the employees were very disappointed. also there was so much
rice???

decent food. delivery service was good today, friendly and helpful person on the phone and friendly delivery person. delivered within the hour as promised. the beef in oyster sauce was 3/4 onions and 1/4 beef. although the beef was tender, we won't order this again -- expensive for an onion dish, and we don't eat onions! the shanghai noodle dish surprisingly contained chicken and good-sized shrimp, even though the person on the phone said it contained cabbage only. this dish was a winner. delivery is free but a minimum $37 order before taxes must be placed.

cost is disappointing. the food itself tastes good, but the portions are quite small for the amount you pay.

review on the food and service. the food was excellent and so was the service. best chinese food and restaurant i have ever been to.

tried take out for first time; food was tasty however portion sizes far too small for the price. barely any meat in dishes! $12.00 for 1 breast of chicken? 5 dishes ordered and difficult to feed 4. would not likely order again due to portions. friendly staff, clean environment.

disappointing. the "mushroom chop suey" was made with canned sliced mushrooms ... slimy and rubbery texture. when i pointed this out to the server she argued that they were fresh mushrooms! then she came back and said "yes, the cook said they were canned". it was a bad dish anyway and the canned mushrooms added to the disappointment. the breaded chicken balls were all batter and no flavour and the ginger beef was passable but too sweet. have enjoyed this restaurant in the past, but will not go back again.

when i was living in the transcona area, my husband and i noticed hung's garden chinese food restaurant. we are always trying out different restaurant's around the city and after our first visit at hung's, i was totally impressed with their food! the service was good too! i miss eating at hung's and ordering from hung's. i just fell for their food, absolutely love it and would recommend it!

ordered delivery this afternoon. order took an hour and 10 mins and was told 45. food was cold and mediocre. had better in store experience but its definitely overrated on here. overall wouldn't recommend to friends or family.
