i'm mangalorean and i get mangalorean food at home 7 days a week and yet i come to tom's because their food is sublime. their prawn curry, pork vindaloo and prawn masala is different from what i get at home and is absolutely delicious. i wasn't quite sold on their prawn gheeroastbecause it had potatoes. their service is excellent and the waiters are extremely polite. i will keep coming here, for sure.

we have been yearning to dine at tom's for quite sometime.last week, after a movie at garuda, a group of foodie friends, finally made it to tom's.
the restaurant itself has an old world charm.the furniture has resemblance to the colonial era. apparently, it's about 60 years old.
the place is known for its mangalorean cuisine and hence we stuck to ordering what tom's is famous for.
we ordered the mutton ghee roast, bangda masala , prawn curry ,squid pepper fry , mutton gheeroastbiriyani , tom's special chicken curry , mutton stew , beef sukkah and pork sarpathal.
a huge spread indeed ,but considering we were 7 of us we wiped the dishes clean in no time.we kept on ordering fresh mango juices along with this food
the mutton stew and the gheeroastreally stood out from the rest.
overall a wonderful experience.
albeit,i felt the food could have been tad warmer. most of the dishes were pretty cold. this kind of food,in my opinion would have tasted better, if the food was warmer.we got one serving of appam, by the time we tried ordering the next round , we were told it's over. it goes on to prove , how popular it is. .
the service was very fast and crew was nice.

i went for a dinner on the christmas eve with a friend of mine. apparently the restaurant opens at 7 p.m. but we were already there by 6:50 and they welcomed us in. loved the ambience with christmas trees and fairy lights. the restaurant was almost empty when we visited. the customer service was good. they serve food in disposable paper plates. happy to see them being concerned about the environment. coming to the food, we ordered basa fish fry, appam, prawn gheeroastand creme brulee for dessert. everything was cooked really well and good quality ingredients were used. the appam was soft and thin and really good. prawn gheeroastwas good too. my favourite item though was the creme brulee, it was so good. the only complain i have about this place is that the quantity is less compared to the price they charge. otherwise it was a pretty good dinner.

it's one authentic place, we just ordered 3 dishes and we were totally satisfied with it... we order appam, chicken buffath, and chicken gheeroast biryani.
appams were big in size and too soft and spongy, chicken buffath a spicy curry dish perfectly spiced, chicken was so tender and it tasted really good.
then the biryani was way too good. that ghee taste in that gheeroastis a beautiful feeling. i would give a 5/5 for all the 3 dishes.
price is also affordable.. i dint find it pricy.. for 2 people it wud be around 800 easily... but for the quantity n quality they provide.. thats worth it.
do try their gheeroastbiryani.

i unfortunately ordered from this place on a hungry day, very disappointed.
please do not go by their pictures on zomato cause that's highly misleading, that's the mistake i made.
prawns gheeroasthad tiny frozen prawns and the quantity was miserable, definitely not worth it and most definitely not authentic style gheeroastmasala. fish fry was stale! sigh!
would not recommend this place to anyone !!!

tom's restaurant was my first tryst with the mangalorean cuisine. a dear friend of mine dragged me to this place.
i was a bit skeptical, mainly stemming out of naivety and prejudices and when he kept on ordering dish after dish, i was brazenly pessimistic.

then the food came. the mutton gheeroastjust shut me up (i still order this as a staple everytime i visit tom's). then came the appams, vindaloo, baffaths- the food alone has brought me to tom's more than any other places in bangalore.

it's the best mangalorean place in town.
also a big shout out to the host and the people.

if you are looking for some really good, homemade style mangalorean food this is the place to be. do make it a point to try the prawns gheeroastthere. it is the best i have tasted until date. along with that we had the pepper chicken and chicken gheeroastas well. the kerala paratha is worth it as well.

for an authentic "mangalore style food" this is the best restaurant to be. located on brigade road and serves the super delicious food 🙂
they serve food with love , hot from kitchen and an extensive variety to gorge on. we tried the seer fish tawa fry - served hot on the table it was well marinated, nicely cooked and it was so delicious. mutton gheeroast- it was excellent , mutton was so soft and every bite the ghee flavor was giving the treat. appam - first time i tried appam overhere i became fan it was so tasty. neer dosa i just want to say wow it was so soft and yummy. for main course we tried - bangada masala with kerala parota it was equally good and mouthwatering. rice items we tried like - gheeroastchicken biryani - i guess one of the best biriyani "never before and never after" chicken fried rice was quite tasty. what was were my favorite dessert. caramel custrad are to die for , roasted - sweet syrup of custrad made us have second.

a pure authentic and highly mouthwatering mangalore cusine is what this restaurant delivers.

must try dishes are like :
. appam
. neer dosa
. mutton ghee roast
. seer fish tawa fry
. chicken fried rice
. gheeroastchicken biryani
. caramel custrad

ambience is good, service is quick and staff are very attentive. overall my meal experience was tasty and delicious.

lit af food - a simple but complete review of this place.

i was here a couple of days back with a friend for lunch and i was completely blown away with how consistent they have been for years. i'm one of the regulars and was surprised to see them maintain the taste same over the years.

coming to the food, we ordered mutton gheeroastwith neer dosa which was a brilliant combination to start off with. we also had fish kabab along with this which crispy on the outside and perfectly cooked on the inside. another starter that we had was squids sukha and that's definitely not to be missed. lastly, crème brulee was the perfect end to the meal - so good that we ordered one more even though we were full.

the service is quick and staffs are helpful in making you understand the dishes. will be going back for more crème brulee and to try out their lunch thalis.

so tom's is definitely now one of my fav restaurants to visit in bangalore!
the place just gives you the total vibes and feels if mangalorian cuisine.
the interiors here just soo beautiful, the place feels more like a library with an amazing atmosphere.
the service here is really good too.
i absolutely loved their chicken gheeroastwith appam.
the beef pepper fry was just perfect as well.
the mutton sukha i felt could have been much better better.
then we went on the to the mains, i tried the beef curry with jeera rice which was an amazing combo.
the prawns gheeroastbiryani also turned out to be amazing.
we ended the meal with some of the best creme brulee i have ever had.
the most impressive thing is that it serves authentic food for a very affordable price.
so overall it was just a great experience for me.

this is my second visit to tom's restaurant. it is located in a prime location with amazing ambience and wonderful decor. to start with we ordered the chicken ghee roast, the smell of ghee and those amazing flavours. then i tried the prawns gheeroastwhich has very distinct flavours from that of chicken. then i ordered the basa fish kebab, which was a little too oily but marinated very well. amazing flavours. then we ordered the squid pepper fry which was just fantastic.
coming to the main course, i had the kerala paratha with beef sukka and even some neer dosas along with it. that's the highlight and the only reason for me to go back there.
in desserts we had the brownies with ice cream and fruit salad with ice cream.
visit this place for some amazing food!
