tom's restaurant has its roots since 1983 in bangalore. they serve some authentic mangalorean food in the city. though i'm nowhere near in understanding the culinary arts of the mangalore region, i totally loved the food served here!

i visited the brigade road outlet, located in the busiest streets yet gives you the vintage feels. i started my binging session with "chicken ghee roast", "prawn pepper fry", "pork dry fry", and, "mutton sukkah". the prawns and mutton dish won my tastebuds. the blend of flavors was deliciously peculiar in all the dishes.

well, my visit was a pure non-vegetarian one so can't really comment on the vegetarian cuisines. for the main course, i had a "kori roti (chickencurrywith rice wafers)", this was something new for me. a "seercurry(fish curry) and plain rice", and a "tom's special chicken with appam". mangalorean food is all about the coconut, just the way i like. non-veg food prepared in coconutcurryis an absolute love for me. in the dessert, i had a "choco caramel ganache" topped with ice-cream and a show-stopper "creme brulee", it was classic and the yummiest i have had.

the ambiance is an old-style and a spacious one, with the seatings complementing it. i loved the use of glass all around, making way for the natural light in the day time. this is for sure one of my favorite eat-outs in bangalore. i shall definitely visit multiple times!

we have been yearning to dine at tom's for quite sometime.last week, after a movie at garuda, a group of foodie friends, finally made it to tom's.
the restaurant itself has an old world charm.the furniture has resemblance to the colonial era. apparently, it's about 60 years old.
the place is known for its mangalorean cuisine and hence we stuck to ordering what tom's is famous for.
we ordered the mutton ghee roast, bangda masala , prawncurry, squid pepper fry , mutton ghee roast biriyani , tom's special chickencurry, mutton stew , beef sukkah and pork sarpathal.
a huge spread indeed ,but considering we were 7 of us we wiped the dishes clean in no time.we kept on ordering fresh mango juices along with this food
the mutton stew and the ghee roast really stood out from the rest.
overall a wonderful experience.
albeit,i felt the food could have been tad warmer. most of the dishes were pretty cold. this kind of food,in my opinion would have tasted better, if the food was warmer.we got one serving of appam, by the time we tried ordering the next round , we were told it's over. it goes on to prove , how popular it is. .
the service was very fast and crew was nice.

it's one authentic place, we just ordered 3 dishes and we were totally satisfied with it... we order appam, chicken buffath, and chicken ghee roast biryani.
appams were big in size and too soft and spongy, chicken buffath a spicycurrydish perfectly spiced, chicken was so tender and it tasted really good.
then the biryani was way too good. that ghee taste in that ghee roast is a beautiful feeling. i would give a 5/5 for all the 3 dishes.
price is also affordable.. i dint find it pricy.. for 2 people it wud be around 800 easily... but for the quantity n quality they provide.. thats worth it.
do try their ghee roast biryani.

a classic old school, with a legacy for the most authentic mangalorean catholic experience.
they are now open in a new location with a great makeover, staying true to their identity.
the entryway is an arched glass façade, with a bit of a french feel, but the moment you enter, the warmth of traditional athangudi tiles and the simple wooden seating welcomes you with a tinge of nostalgia.

we tried their specially curated menu, which for starters included the prawn pepper fry, which had a distinctive coastal flavour to it.
next, we tried their mutton sukkah, the exotic mangalore dish, the dessicated coconut and the roisted spices were a perfect combination for the juicy meat.
the chicken ghee roast, another classic dish, had a perfect blend of tanginess to the ghee roasted tender chicken.

for the main course, we tried their special chickencurryand appam, the hot fluffy appams, melted in our mouth with the heavenly chicken curry, that also had a tinge of sweetness.
kori roti( rice wafers) with kori gussi ( mangalore chicken curry) was a crispy snack we all fully enjoyed.
the tangy coconut based curry, also went well when paired with the beer dosa, another mangalore speciality.
we also tried the traditional seer fishcurrywith rice, the coconut based tangycurrywas soul soothing.
for desserts,we tried crème brulé, which has a caramelized sugar coated top layer and layers of spongy custard.
their choco caramel ganache was also good.

the other must tries here are, ghee roasts, sukkahs and biryanis.
also, drop by on a sunday morning for fluffy appams paired with stew.

@toms.bangalore opened in 1983, known for its catholic mangalorean cuisine and old fashioned ambience. this place has some signature mangalorean meat dishes  that's a #musttry #bangalore .

must try starters squid pepper fry : pan fried squid with tomatoes and onions is super delicious and enriched with flavors of pepper.
chicken ghee roast is a popular mangalorean dish which is a fiery red, tangy and spicy with a flavor of ghee roasted spices. .
beef sukkah is a delicious dish with beef which is best when served along with steamed rice, porota , ghee rice. this is very simple and yet delicious beef preparation.
fish kebabs : are a great way to enjoy meat or  seafood. this is a very good appetizer for a meal. .
prawn ghee roast: one of the best among the ghee roasts. it's different from the chicken ghee roast and it's a #musttry .
mushroom pepper fry : a spicy yet tasty dish with mushrooms and pepper.
tawa fish fry: all time favorite dish in any tom's outlet.

they have some amazing authentic mangalorian main courses like the chicken bafta and sukkahs which will go well with some porota and sannas. the porota with chickencurryis the best combination. the porota is very soft and tasty which makes it the best when paired with some curries. the beer dosa is something that you should not miss when you visit this place. neer dosa and prawn ghee roast is a #musttry.

this place also serves you some amazing desserts like oreo jar, fruit salad with icecream, best baked brownies with ice cream and cream brulee. the drinks are also good to try. the staffs and service is very pleasing and friendly. the ambience is authentic and gives your a rich feeling. the ambience is very pleasing.

it is always a pleasure to visit tom's because they serve some great mangalorean food and ever since i've been a fan of the beef sukka with kerala parota!

when i got seated, i first placed an order for prawns ghee roast. they were not in a red masala but somewhat on the yellowish side. however, the chicken ghee roast was in a traditional red masala. both of them tasted great, one seemed to have lesser ghee than the other though. however, both of them tasted really delicious.

then i decided to try some squid pepper fry, do make sure you have them super hot because once they get cold - it will taste rubbery.

the chicken 65 here is batter fried, tossed in a sauce. so do think twice before ordering. the flavours ofcurryleaves are on point nonetheless.

they also have a chinese menu other than their main menu, however i would highly recommend that you stick to the mangalorean dishes.
for main course, i relised the neer dosas with some chicken baffath.
to end the meal, i had their signature oreo creme brulee.
the brownie with ice cream is too good but they had almost run out of the same as it's a hot seller.
you can also try out their shakes and a fresh like soda is always a to go drink!

if you want to try authentic mangalorean cuisine, then must visit tom's restaurant. they are serving only non veg items like sea food, chicken, mutton, beef, pork etc. it has 2 outlets one is in brigade road & another is in kormangala. simple designed interior.. it is designed like a old palace. specious though. staffs were very courteous. i tried a lot of dishes.. all were very unique in taste with mangalorean touch. basa fish kebab was soo good and fresh. crunchy outside & super soft inside. also had tawa fried bangda fish. it was also super fresh n good. masala fried prawn & chilli fried prawn.. both were too yummy, spicy. their ghee roast mutton was superb n amazing... soo tender mutton pieces. also tried their neer dosa and ghee roast prawn which super yumilicious. appam & tom's spl. chickencurrywas also too good. their ghee roast prawn biryani was just woow.. soo yummy & spicy with juicy prawns. also tried their mussels sukkah which was also good. must try their sannah. it's like super fluffy, soft & spongy cake lyk which was soo good. also they are serving some amazing desserts. 1st one is choco caramel ganas, basically it's a choco brownie topped with caramel which was too good. & next one is creme brulee which was the star dessert of dat evening. it was just woow & super amazing. all over my experience with authentic mangalorean cuisine was good. must visit guyz.. u will definitely love it 👍

very decent place. generally quiet and crowd is on the lesser side. the food was simple yet satisfying and enjoyable. nothing fancy, like most of the modern places these days.. i would say it has a charm of it's own!

we had basha fish fry which was yummy, and beefcurrywhich was a little bland, but still good.. and ghee rice, which was a little ordinary.

overall, a nice experience. must visit once!

mutton ghee roast is the bomb. prawncurry(cashew) is solid. pork tends to have a looot of fat pieces so maybe avoid that. also chuck the appam- dry and bleh- and get idiyappam instead. 5stars cause of the mutton ghee roast. also it's a great place for am afternoon meal wherein you sit and eat for a few hours.
