hopdoddy burger bar

just like soco. hopdoddy has done an excellent job of replicating the south congress experience to anderson lane. the burgers are great. the lines are long and kinda weird. theplaceis a bit too noisy. but, did i mention that the burgers are great. the atmosphere is hip and cool.

theplacehas good variety of burgers. i tried the la bandita vegetarian burger which was great, as well as the red velvet cheesecake shake. should try if you like burgers.

walked up to thisplacelike "why are people lining up outside like it's black friday?" then i understood why: because the burgers are worth the wait. meat was super juicy and tender. all the ingredients are fresh and local. chipotle ketchup (what?), yea, it has a kick. if beer is your thing, you'll probably like thisplacetoo. they only serve local/texas brewers. only reason why i won't give it 5 stars is bec of the 45min wait.

besides the yummy burgers, thisplacehas the best bartenders. you can always count on friendly service and funny guys behind the bar. love this place!

checked out thisplacewith some friends, and i was curious because i heard some great stuff about the burgers being the best in austin. i don't normally eat burgers, however, they offered a veggie burger and i was down to try it. when we got there, the wait was 1 hour. if hubby & i had been alone, there's no way we would have waited an hour for burgers. but we were there with people.. so we waited. i was starving by the time we ordered, and once that happened we sat to wait another 20-30 minutes for the burgers. my veggie burger finally arrived, and i will say that it was pretty large. it tasted pretty good too, but not like the best veggie burger i ever had or ever will have. my hubby liked his beef burger, but not enough to return another time. waiting that long was just a serious turn off, and we aren't crazy about burgers. so yea, it's popular, and if you're really into burgers, this may be a perfect thrill for you.

i stopped here during a weekend visit to austin. theplacehas an interesting order set up that creates a long line that goes all the way outside. we placed a to go order so we got to wait inside in the ac. the burger was good, i liked the signature sauce. the fries were good too but they could've had used a little more salt. since i hate lines, i don't know if i'll ever go and eat in though.

it's so-so. we finally tried this spot after hearing all of the hype. theplacelooks cool and the staff was super nice. however, the burgers were just so-so. good meat, but the primetime burger tasted strange and the poblano burger had no spice. we did like the fries, but that doesn't make it worth paying $35 for lunch. in summary, there are better and cheaper burgers out there, so save your scratch for another local spot.

i had the magic shroom burger with caramelized onions and it was delicious. theplaceis over priced so it's probably not aplacethat i will go to regularly but i do think everyone should try it at least once.

it must be the hype. although theplacehas a very hip and attractive interior and the ordering/seating process is pretty cool, the food is so-so and very expensive. i've had much better burgers at whataburger. the fries are ok, the service is great but it cost 35 dollars for 2 burgers fries and drinks and it was not very good. the burger was too salty.

the ordering process was very easy and straight forward and we got assigned our table. they have an interesting hybrid model in between a fast food restaurant where you order at the cashiers and a waitress later assist you with refills or anything else after this first order. the environment of the restaurant is spacious and very pleasant to the eye. they have a modern metro-style décor with good color combinations and furniture. it may not be an austinite weird typeplacebut it is definitively unique and well done.
