way overrated. i have seen the lines on soco and knew that this was the most hyped burger in town. with that knowledge i went into this assuming it wouldn't live up to the hype; but i still expected a burger that was closer to exceptional than average. unfortunately, it really was a very average tasting burger that was overcooked (ordered mid-rare and got mid-well), bland (didn't seem as if the beef was seasoned at all and the sauce was tasteless) and pretty ho-hum.

what you have is the combination of a pretty average burger, that would be unremarkable at any establishment, and an ordering process that makes me wonder if they didn't intentionally make it as cumbersome and inefficient as possible, just to ensure long lines that extend out the front door.

people are raving on and on about the place, so i'm surely in the minority, but i love a good burger just about as much as any food on earth, and this burger comes up way too short to deserve the hype.

hopdoddy’s is a gourmet burger joint located in the heart of the very hip, and trendy soco austin area. it doesn’t matter what time or what day you decide to dine here, you can always expect a line outside wrapped around the building and you can always expect to wait a while. if you’re in the right mind set, and you’re a local, you won’t mind this at all. this is south austin. we wait in lines for hours for gourmet burgers, it’s just what we do. luckily you’re located in a great people watching spot. if you’re there with friends, you may even partake in some browsing in the local shops that line the streets. don’t get too excited when you finally reach the door though, because all you have really reached is, wait for it…… the inside line! but breathe, now you get to stand in line against the fully stocked bar. yes, you can order and sip on one of the many local beers/spirits offered such as deep eddy vodka, tito’s, and 512 br

just like soco. hopdoddy has done an excellent job of replicating the south congress experience to anderson lane. the burgers are great. the lines are long and kinda weird. the place is a bit too noisy. but, did i mention that the burgers are great. the atmosphere is hip and cool.

burgers and food are very good, just think it’s overpriced. paid almost $9 for a tap beer. best deal on a burger is roaring fork happy hour. hop is a lot of hype.

the place has good variety of burgers. i tried the la bandita vegetarian burger which was great, as well as the red velvet cheesecake shake. should try if you like burgers.

i ordered from here today for a delivery order via postmates. i submitted my order with a burger cooked rare and a substitution of the hot sauce on the side with a side of fries (which i thought would be more than 25 small fries). the burger was done well and it was smothered in hot sauce. i called the restaurant an explained to them the issue and how i had to have it delivered because i am at work and cannot pick it up. the manager gustavo could only tell me that he was sorry and that i can come pick up another one. i continued to tell him that i couldn't leave work and he didn't seem to care at all. terrible service, terrible food, terrible experience. i will never return. see photos attached of me "rare" burger and my heaping load of fries.

delicious. the burgers are so big and dripping with flavor that they are a challenge to eat without getting messy but you won't care one bit.

a solid 4!  line was incredibly long but major props to the staff for mitigating any problems.  handed out free samples, assigned tables to groups prior to seating and ordering.  friendly staff.

place was absolutely slammed friday night.  servers were taking drink orders in the line.  my wife ordered a caramel milk shake.  very good, very sweet, maybe a bit too much salt though but no problem.

my wife ordered the tuna burger.  the fried nori chips give it a good crunchy texture.  horseradish mayo is good, but the tuna itself was under seasoned.  i ordered the primetime.  brie cheese and added mushrooms.  fantastic.

cheese dip on the fries was okay, nothing spectacular.  fries themselves slightly disappointing.

wow, this was totally worth the drive and wait, i guess i timed it just right because i sat outside and watched them pile up like cordwood. service was fine, beer was perfect, food was outstanding, make sure you get some chipotle ketchup....really good.

i've been here numerous times. your best bet to eliminate your wait time is a. sit at the bar b. go at off times, enjoy the flavored water while you wait. or you can chat up your neighbors while you enjoy the long wait. i like there signature cocktails and of course there burgers are amazing. i feel like the salads left me still being hungry. either way they are opening a new spot at the triangle so maybe the wait will be a non-issue in the future

walked up to this place like "why are people lining up outside like it's black friday?" then i understood why: because the burgers are worth the wait. meat was super juicy and tender. all the ingredients are fresh and local. chipotle ketchup (what?), yea, it has a kick. if beer is your thing, you'll probably like this place too. they only serve local/texas brewers. only reason why i won't give it 5 stars is bec of the 45min wait.

checked out this place with some friends, and i was curious because i heard some great stuff about the burgers being the best in austin. i don't normally eat burgers, however, they offered a veggie burger and i was down to try it. when we got there, the wait was 1 hour. if hubby & i had been alone, there's no way we would have waited an hour for burgers. but we were there with people.. so we waited. i was starving by the time we ordered, and once that happened we sat to wait another 20-30 minutes for the burgers. my veggie burger finally arrived, and i will say that it was pretty large. it tasted pretty good too, but not like the best veggie burger i ever had or ever will have. my hubby liked his beef burger, but not enough to return another time. waiting that long was just a serious turn off, and we aren't crazy about burgers. so yea, it's popular, and if you're really into burgers, this may be a perfect thrill for you.

hopdoddy has one of the best burgers i've eaten. the wait is always long anytime i've been, but it's worth it. i got the llano poblano with the poblanos on the side and it is always delicious. it's great that the burgers aren't too big and nor is the bread, it always seems like the perfect amount and the burger is flavorful. i also enjoy the fries, but i'm not the biggest fan of their cream soda, it's a little too sweet for me.
