sausage bread? yes, please.. had brunch at hell's kitchen on our vacation, and was so glad we did. was excited right away when i saw the dramatic red and black decor and walls filled with amazing art by ralph steadman. a feast for the eyes while we enjoyed a morning out.
i ordered the bison benedict and found it be be very delicious. they use organic eggs, too - kudos to them and a big plus in my book. the tangerine-jalapeno hollandaise sauce was scrumptious. i also ordered the toasted sausage bread. saw it on the menu and just had to try this. it wasn't what i expected, as it was sweet and not savory, but not overly sweet. i really couldn't taste the sausage, but it was oh-so yummy and perfectly spiced. their home-made peanut butter is the bomb.
can't wait to return to minneapolis, so i can go to hell's kitchen again!

all around amazing!!!. from the ralph steadman art hanging the red walls to the heat-infused menu items - hell's kitchen in minneapolis is an amazing dining experience. if you are looking for breakfast, lunch, dinner, a brag-up-to-everyone brunch, or just drinks... go (downstairs or down elevator) to hell.
if you are looking for music with your meal, hk offers that, too from an angel-clad stage featuring regular jazz, rock and other music groups.

satan's a**hole. corny. bland food.

we were from out of town, and heard this was the place to get a great breakfast. holy smokes, were they wrong. loud, gimmicky, ugly, and just plain stupid. the food tasted like it had been sitting out for half an hour, was bland and overpriced. a lot of bad tattoos and obnoxious cock rock.

out of this world brunch!. went here on vacation - got reservations for sunday brunch (make sure you get a reservation to avoid the wait) and it was amazing! the lemon ricotta pancakes were heavenly, and the rosti potatoes and eggs were delicious too! i also love that everything is fresh, local, organic when possible. cool atmosphere, fun servers, and excellent food. not to be missed!

in the end...a disappointment. wow, a decent place, but when a huge corporation shows up and takes up all the bars, and then has the event staff tell folks they are too loud ( regular patrons ).,....gone to far. i would not go back here, if some one paid me. a perfect evening ruined by large corporations buying space and expecting a library atmosphere so thier corporate shill can go on and on about some product......

upon entering the place, i thought it was pretty cool. there were a lot of things to look at. however, the hostess looked like she wished she was somewhere else and our server had no personality and appeared annoyed that we took longer than 2 minutes to figure out what we wanted. i probably won't go back, except maybe to try the brunch.

good late night. i have only been here for the late night happy hour, but every time, my table orders 6-7 appetizers and at least 2 drinks a piece and when we split the bill, no one pays more than $10. good food, and you definitely get what you pay for.

one of the best breakfast places on the planet!. we have been eating breakfast here for years, and the breakfast is consistently excellent. very innovative menu, always prepared to the highest standards of quality. our favorites are the lemon ricotta hotcakes, mahnomin porridge, crab cake benedict, and the caramel pecan roll. try everything! and don't miss their peanut butter.
definitely one of the best breakfast places on the planet.

a breaklast made in hell. when we travel, it is unusual for us to return to a restaurant every time we return to a city. hell's kitchen is our exception. every time we travel to the twin city we go to hell's kitchen for their sunday brunch. we always make a reservation and without one, there can be up to an hour wait for a table. service is fun, the waitstaff is wearing pajamas. service is efficient and friendly. they have a great bloody mary. i always have some mahimin porridge, an interesting concoction of wild rice, dried berries, hazelnuts, maple syrup, and cream. my wife usually has the not so traditional egg benedict. notice that i said egg and not eggs because they serve only one egg on a thick slice of ham with hollandaise sauce. it comes with a very generous portion of their hash-brown potatoes. with our coffee we have one of their over-sized delicious caramel-pecan rolls. like everything else that we have tried here, a bit difference than the norm. the roll is served with a caramel sauce that with use pieces of the roll to sop up. it is a breakfast made in hell and usually our last meal as we head to the airport for our flight homes.

shambolic!. okay, let me start by saying the i have been in the professional restaurant business for almost 35 years. i started as a waitress and came into the kitchen in 1989 and have been there ever since. i have worked all over the country for some of it's most talented chefs and really good restaurants.
having said that, when i go out to a restaurant, the food and service had better be good! this, sadly, was not my experience at "hell's kitchen".
let's start with the fact that i went on line to look the place up. my partner said it was known for it's "soul food". being brought up in the south (i grew up in south carolina and went to culinary school there), i was intrigued to see what (i will use the nicer word) "northerner's" would do with, basically, southern favorites; cornbread, red beans and rice, collard greens, macaroni and cheese, catfish fingers, chicken wings. dinner entrees include a choice of catfish or fried chicken with all the sides.
we get to hell's kitchen at 9:02pm, so too late for anything but the alla carte menu which had everything but the fried chicken. which was fine with us. i wanted catfish, my partner, anything made without meat, because she is vegetarian. the place to order is in a drafty hallway area that is where the servers have to go to pick up food. it consist of a over sized table and a pleasant young lady, who sadly did not know whether things had meat in them or not.
we ordered, and then was told that we could not use a credit card, but had to use cash. fine, okay we go and pay the two dollar fee to get cash and pay. it will take 20 minuets, we are told. i question this in my mind, because i know that if this food is done right, it should be a matter of heating things and dropping some catfish. a good kitchen could do it in 8 to 10 minuets. but okay, 20 minuets, we can have some drinks.
we are told to seat ourselves at the right side of the room. clearly, we were getting no service. once at the table, no one we serving even water, so i had to go to the bar to get my own drinks. after waiting for 10 minuets for a clearly overwhelmed and very slow bartender, i am told that i can't order two drinks at a time unless the person i am buying the drinks for is standing there! i have never, and i have been to red neck bars in the south, been told something so crazy! i go, and get my partner, we wait another 5 minuets for the bartender to acknowledge us, we order a raspberry cosmo and an appletini. this came to $19.50 for rail vodka and drinks that came in margaretta glass! (cheaper at the townhouse and the service is better!)
we get back to our table and it has been over an 45 minuets! i go over to the young lady that we ordered from and she says that they thought that we left, because no one was sitting at our table! our food was now cold, and they would have to re make the order, which meant waiting another 20 minuets! now you can imagine i am not too happy at this point! on top of it, as i have come out with these drinks that were not very good (my appletini was way too sweet and didn't have very much vodka). i was told by a manager the the drink prices were "downtown prices"! $9 for less than 2.5 oz of rail alcohol per drink is normal for people in downtown minneapolis to pay! i was outraged! this guy must really think i was born yesterday!
let's go to the meal. after waiting an hour and 15 minuets for out food. it came out on plastic plates. that was one thing. but it was not hot. the mac and cheese was clearly from a box. no crust on top. the noodles were bland and for that matter, all of the food was cold and bland. blackeyed peas, one of my favorite things from back home tasted caned and had no seasoning. (insulting for a black southern girl like myself, really). the collard greens, again one of my favorite things, were strangely bland and had crunchy onions in it. the cornbread was good! it could have been a bit hotter, though. there was no care taken with the plating. we order, and did not get the redbeans and rice, which i feel was just as well. the nice young lady that took our money for the meal refunded our money. we ate, because by this time we were so hungry and frankly, i did not want to have to find another place to eat that late. the thing i really objected to with the food and service was the total lack of service. if this was the second time they did this for this event, the hell's kitchen staff has a lot to do in terms of learning to service their customer! as a professional, i was embarrassed for them!
after dinner, we went to hear shannon blowtorch spin! she was fantastic and had the crowd eating out of her hand. i was on the dance floor so long i got a foot cramp! that's when you know you have a good dj! the music was well mixed and thought out in her sets. she and naughty boyy played, for me, the best sets of the night, and it was an enjoyable night after all.
pop up or not, the owners of hell's kitchen need to be involved in how their restaurant is used not just by the event, but by your managers. you never know when you might be reviewed by someone who knows better!

great atmosphere. i am never disappointed at this restaurant! i went there a few months ago for breakfast and loved it! my friend and i shared the huevos rancheros and the lemon ricotta pancakes and it was great! just the other night my husband took me there for our anniversary and we hit the happy hour which was great and i tried the foxy fosse martini - like a mojito with ginger vodka and basil lemonade, it was great! then we ordered calamari which had great dipping sauces, then we ordered bbq pulled pork nachos that had coleslaw and pickles on them, which i thought sounded gross but it was super yummy! i love this place!

the decor alone is worth a visit.. went here on my birthday with a few friends, which was on a thursday. the place was not packed to the walls, but enough that it was comfy and fun. i made a reservation online and asked to not be seated by the band(wanted to be able to talk and hear my company). well, we got a table of course right by the band, but we said nothing cause the band was good. though, a wonderful band it was so loud even our server commented it was never this loud before and said sorry. we did not get our hearing back for a few hours..lol.

we got our drinks, which sucked-all 4 of them. one of us got the bartenders choice, purgatory punch and two others i forgot. i think this place is more for food and maybe beer/shots than special drinks that cost 9.00 a pop.

on to the rest-our server was soooo good, very friendly and always had a smile on her face. when some thing was off, she fixed it straight away. we got the cheese plater and nachos as starters. neither starters were really good, the salsa was gross and more sweet then tangy-this came with the nachos, which was just chips, black beans and salsa you had to put together.

now the main courses where insane good!!! my bf got the lobster tacos(which were more like small burritos) that came with rice and veggies. another got the bison burger and he could not get enough of it, said the best burger he ever had(never tried bison), another fish and chips(loved it) and i got h.rancheros. omg, mine was insane with a crisp tortilla on the bottom then a layers of hash browns eggs, black beans and some other things i don't remember..lol. i would get that over and over and i am not a fan of eggs, but being a vegetarian and the menu seems to skimp on options for me-i got this and glad i did.

i would come here again for sure, but buy a beer, skip the apps and come with someone you don't want to speak to if in the band section. if you do want to talk ask to sit in the back by the fire place. the band area is strange and wonderful in it's decor(we loved the paintings). the place in the back is also beautiful, but not as wild as the band area, more understated and beautiful.
