so i discovered today that turkish ice cream is nice and creamy but a lot denser than your everyday gelato.
tried a few different flavours - burnt caramel, raspberry, banana and cinnamon. the caramel is by far the standout.
very friendly service, the guys there are having a great time and enjoy working there - they played some tricks with our kids. they were very generous with the tasting so don’t be afraid to ask!

we came because walking to cow and moon is too far, but what a pleasant discovery!

turkish icecream, to my knowledge is a little more chewy. we got the melon and feta, watermelon and strawberry and mango coconut.

watermelon icecream is especially chewy and sweet, would not recommend. but the other two is creamy and flavourful. the feta is subtle in the melon ice cream but they go together very well. they also have baklavas there, if youre into them.

i'm rather partial to good ice-cream and did try a few of the competitors around the suburb. the only thing i have to say about hakiki is:

best icecream in newtown, full stop, end of sentence 😊

a must try for anyone that loves ice cream! hakiki puts a twist on usual gelato with interesting and delicious flavours such as baklava, melon & feta and grape molasses. service is very friendly

yummy turkish icecream, friendly staff and a simple but pretty gelato stall!! we ordered the turkish coffee & melon and feta icecream. at first, the melon and feta was a bit weird but it gradually grew upon me and started to taste delicious!! claps for hakiki icecream for creating this odd but delicious combo! would recommend!

hakiki turkish ice cream for me was a let down. they have minimum variety of ice cream on the  menu unlike your messinas or gelatissimos. being a turkish oriented ice cream parlour, the expectations of the baklawa ice cream were high to serenade the taste buds. the first few bites were nice but the different fillings in the ice cream gives a weird taste and can't enjoy it till the end. friends who ordered other flavours quite enjoyed their ice cream. the comments from others on chocolate hazelnut ice cream was that it is buttery and the watermelon+strawberry+rosewater is nice but is too sweet to eat by the end of it. overall, i need to appreciate the novel flavours that are offered by hakiki.

their ice-cream is really unique, which is different from gelato.
the main feature of turkish ice-cream is consistency. the ice-cream tastes a bit hard, and has a very "odd" shape. it melts very slowly and remains in the mouth for a long time.

plenty of seats are available both inside and outside the shop. besides, they also have some "turkish delights", desserts and coffee.

we tried #mandarin# flavour, which is special as i hardly see such flavour in other shops. #watermelon# and #melon# are both sweet and fresh. it's a good place to stay and enjoy the ice-cream with friends.

tried this for the first time and loved it. the baklava ice cream was absolutely delicious with chunks of jelly and baklava mixed in. the pistachio baklava was amazing, crispy with extra sprinkling of pistachio. i would go back again to try the other turkish icecream flavours!

visited this for the first time after hearing great things about it!i can say it definitely draws a crowd with it being packed and their top flavours actually sell out!

the most popular flavour that was selling out fast was the pomegranate & raspberry flavour. it was tart with a perfect balance of sweet. i also tried:  - burnt caramel  (this flavour was delicious, sweeter than the other fruity flavours but tasted sooo good!)- strawberries & cream (this was a favourite of mine too! love a good strawberries and cream)love the different and unusual flavour combos here, reminds me of messina creating unique flavours.would definitely return to try the baklava and molases & fetta flavour (sounds interesting).

love the vibe and variety of flavours of gelato in this store ! being really close to newtown station (not even a 10 minute walk), i would highly recommend trying the baklava or a scoop of gelato if you're in the area ☺️

visited this place again as we had lost the photos from before (and also because the ice cream is delish).
loving the flavours these guys offer, we had two scoops each. one, sour cherry and turkish delight. the other, fetta and melon and burnt caramel.
all of the flavours were absolutely divine!
the fetta and melon were actually pretty good although it sounds like a strange combo.
we also had some turkish coffee which came with a side of turkish delight and also some rosewater flavoured turkish delight.
so yummy!
service was good and price was also very good.
would recommend it to family and friends.

hmmm….. gelatos are one of my favourite desserts in the whole chain of dessert universe. this place is pretty cool. it actually feels like you are in turkey while in sydney. with turkish beats and music in the background and decorations across the room. they serve tea and coffee traditionally in turkish cups. prices are reasonable.

i always struggle to understand how people can eat more than one scoop of ice cream. although the ice cream was nice, i barely got through a third of the one scoop. i also ordered some sour cherry baklava which was nice, but not amazing.

we made a special point of visiting this well-reviewed cafe/shop to buy baklava. they were fresh, with crisp pastry and crunchy nuts, but there was no syrup!! a great disappointment.
