hakiki ice cream parlour is a dessert shop in newtown that is famous for their turkish ice cream. we had heard many good things about this place so came here for dessert after dinner one night. we ordered the big bowl, which includes 5 flavours to share, the baklava, sticky data, mango and coconut, strawberry and cream, grape molasses and tahini. the secret to its creamy texture is salep, dried powdered root of an orchid, which gives it a creamy flavour that is more melt resistant compared to normal ice cream. i really enjoyed this, the baklava was probably my favourite, the pistachio and puff pastry flakes made for a textured scoop, while the mango and coconut was nice and refreshing. the strawberry and cream was also quite fruity, while the sticky date was the sweetest of them all. the grape molasses and tahini was the most interesting and traditional of the flavours and definitely unique.
