hakiki ice cream parlour is a dessert shop in newtown that is famous for their turkish ice cream. we had heard many good things about this place so came here for dessert after dinner one night. we ordered the big bowl, which includes 5 flavours to share, the baklava, sticky data, mango and coconut, strawberry and cream, grape molasses and tahini. the secret to its creamy texture is salep, dried powdered root of an orchid, which gives it a creamy flavour that is more melt resistant compared to normal ice cream. i really enjoyed this, the baklava was probably my favourite, the pistachio and puff pastry flakes made for a textured scoop, while the mango and coconut was nice and refreshing. the strawberry and cream was also quite fruity, while the sticky date was the sweetest of them all. the grape molasses and tahini was the most interesting and traditional of the flavours and definitely unique.

the ice cream here at hakiki is so so unique, and almost has a melted mashmallow-like texture. it's sticky and absolutely wonderful. personally i love the fruity combinations (like watermelon!) and the roasted nut variations. i also love the turkish delight they serve here. my favourite is the turkish coffee, which interesting is paired beautifully with the hakiki turkish tea. no day is complete without a hot cup of tea, and a turkish tea to finish the night is just the most perfect thing. baklava here is also housemade and really delicious, with unique combinations like chocolate + walnut or cherry. service here is always extremely friendly, but be warned that in the evening the shop is always busy (yes even on weekdays!!).

unique experience at hakiki. ice cream was firmer and chewier than gelato, which was a really enjoyable texture. went for the baklava flavour (with real pieces of baklava in it!) and melon & feta, which was a creamy yet light flavour. really enjoyed the cosy environment too. definitely check out hakiki next time you feel like a sweet treat!

was introduced to this dessert bar last year by a friend. it has been my go to dessert place since then. it’s a cosy cafe with dim lights and the best turkish sweets. i highly recommend: affogato and pistachio baklava

busy little ice cream parlor i have driven past a few hundred times decided to give it a go. not many flavors but what they did have were all original and staff were friendly enough to let u try as many as you like . i was expecting the traditional turkish ice cream but i wasn’t disappointed anyhow . loved all the little desserts on the side also.

finally got the opportunity to visit here after meaning to for ages and i definitely wasn't disappointed ! firstly, the service was super kind and friendly. during taste testing he'd offer you another flavour as well without even you asking. and the ice cream. wow i love the firm, chewy texture, it makes it. the flavours were really tasty too. i chose burnt caramel and turkish delight. visited on a quiet afternoon and just had a good time whilst enjoying some great ice cream. would love to come back and try their coffee and other desserts.

service and decor 5/5
they are friendly and wearing same uniform and the inside decoration is cool, dark and with modern music which makes they amazing.

ice cream 4/5
is their traditional + modernised turkish ice cream? coz i tried the real traditional one : i was teased a lot by the vendor who served the ice cream cone on a stick and then immediately took away when i almost got the ice cream.

therefore, when i saw the name “turkish ice cream” i thought it was like that! but actually it is similar with the normal gelato bars.

the ice cream itself is different from gelato or normal ice cream. they are thicker, harder and not so easy to melt. when the cup is upside down, it won’t fall, reminding me of dq ice cream.

tried peach 🍑 & raspberry + cacao. not bad 👌
but they don’t have cookie, which is my favourite flavour!

hmm , this place was so busy , and they have a baklava iced desert, was so excited... disregard the texture which is dense however that is not the problem here. i wish i had have said something but there is something so wrong with the flavour here that i don’t think a single comment could fix these problems. ... feta and melon? was excited to try but this does not go, just went with the best seller i think it was the baklava or halva ... either way it was made with very stale nuts and not tasty fruits , oh and there was an extra flavour of freezer over everything we sampled , just binned it and went to cow and moon... i’m sorry ... ps i do not live in sydney and am completely impartial. i have not given up on turkish ice cream and want to try some really soon and am sure when done well it’s great.

wanted to try something different from cow & moon and found this place with high rating on zomato. it totally deserves the rating and popularity.

the turkish ice cream a bit chewier than gelato. the staff are really friendly and generous with the tasting. we had a two scoop of wild berry and cacao flavors. the wild berry is very flavorful and fragrant with real berries inside. the cacao is rich but not too sweet, which i love about. ericson chow
