this ice creamplacehas been on my list to go for well over a year. turkish ice cream is definitely different due to the way they make it and the way they freeze it. it's quite hard to scoop but once in your mouth it's not ice cold and melts easily. it generally has a sticker sort of texture but still creamy. one of those things you just have to try for yourself. i love ice cream which doesn't melt as fast-less pressure to take a quick photo lol.

located just a short, ten-minute walk from newtown station, hakiki is a greatplaceto stop by or meet up for dessert with friends. it’s a family-owned dessert bar that makes delights like traditional turkish ice cream, baklava, turkish coffee, teas and more!. we first visited hakiki when they first opened in 2015. now they seem to be busy every night and it can be hard to find a seat! it’s good to see that despite becoming more busy, their range has stayed the same.

i was actually on my way to find where cow & moon was until my friend pointed out if this was the turkish ice creamplacei've been wanting to try for ages. i squealed - it was.

i'm a huge fan of middle eastern food and i's seen countless videos on youtube about the stretchy textures of turkish ice cream - it was something i've been wanting to try! it didn't disappoint. i went to during a quiet time at 4 or 5pm and tried some flavours. the feta & melon is what i'll recommend to people. it's a perfect combination of sweet and sour. it's beautiful. my friend and i had 4 flavours so we could sample a few. the turkish delight was sweet.

the service was ace! the counter person was helpful and patience!

higher viscosity. saw jugernauts' writeup so came as part of a multi-part wander through newtown and enmore (again). quite a bit of interest in thisplaceas it's something different. had the medium cup for $6 - had 2 flavours, the burnt caramel and couldn't go past the turkish delight. there are a handful of tables inside and people don't tend to hang around long. it's certainly more thick and gummy than any other ice cream i've eaten. took quite a bit to eat it but personally would prefer more well known options in this field. staff were very friendly and smiling and efficient in cleaning up the tables.

haikiki is a popular ice cream parlour which offers classic turkish ice cream or dondurma, baklava and an assortment of turkish delights. turkish ice-cream differs from the typical italian gelato in its thick and elastic texture. hence, it does not melt easily and dirty your hands (oh great!!)

i tried their version of pistachio and burnt caramel and they tasted thick and creamy. hakiki is a worthy alternative to the nearby cow & the moon, gelato blue and messina. i will go back for their turkish delights and baklava flavours 😋😋

enmore is my favouriteplacefor ethnic and artisan food because they rarely disappoint (look at my ratings and the spot ons!). and enmore/newtown is fast becoming the dessert paradise in sydney 😆😆

delicious - but service left a sour taste for me :(. i'd heard lots of good things about hakiki, and had been really excited about visiting for some time. the icecream certainly lived up to expectations and we had a coffee and apple tea which were lovely too. however i felt i was very unpleasantly treated by one of the staff when i was there, and this really ruined the experience for me.

the two women who seemed to be on primary service duty were absolutely lovely, and were inviting other customers to try many flavours before purchasing, and talking them through the process of making the icecream, and through what some of the less common and more traditional turkish flavours were. this seems to be indicative of the general standard of service at hakiki, as we saw many groups come through while we were seated and they were all treated to this lovely experience, which the other reviews here also echo. however, this wasn't my experience.

there was only one couple in front of me in the line when i was waiting to order, and they were being talked through the range of flavours and trying several. i was just waiting my turn, when another lady came up to serve me and pretty brusquely demanded that iplacemy order. when i asked politely what some of the flavours down the opposite end of the cabinet were (because i couldn't see due to the couple in front of me), she snapped 'well they all have tags on them, what do you want?'. when i asked some questions about things i didn't understand (what some flavours were, the difference between their hand-churned icecream and their other icecream) she responded unhelpfully, with the minimum explanation possible and in an extremely rude tone. i felt rushed, condescended to and as though i had done something wrong. i could have understood this manner if they'd been busy - but i was the only customer in line after the couple who were already being served so i thought it was quite unacceptable. i was left feeling uncomfortable and personally unwelcome given that everybody else in the cafe seemed to be experiencing such wonderful service. it just really ruined something that i'd been looking forward to for ages.

the icecream itself is delicious and they should be proud, and it seems that generally the service is good there, so i would still say to go without hesitation. but i was made to feel so small that i'm not sure i'd go in again :(

totally just dug into the icecream without taking photos - oops :p tried thisplacefor the first time after watching a show at enmore theatre. theplacewas packkked!! i can see why though, there were heaps of awesome and different flavours. we got the strawberries and cream and baklava scoops for $7, good value considering one flavour is $5! the former tasted amazing but while i enjoyed the latter, i personally didn't like it as much. wanted to try their turkish delight ($1?!) but totally forgot by the time we picked our icecream flavours hahah... next time!

yummy yummy in my tummy. wandered in here and was pleasantly surprised by all the interesting flavours. sour cherry tempted, and didn't disappoint, with that delicious stickiness and chewiness of the cherries being a real highlight. also had the sticky date and pecan which again was beautifully sticky and stretchy, with a full date flavour (coming from large pieces of dates). lovely littleplacewith some ambient seating inside and a few places streetside. service is friendly and efficient. their selections of teas and coffees look great, so i'll definitely be back soon for a more thorough sampling!

ok first let me tell you we have been to hakiki several times and it’s one of the best turkish ice creams in sydney and has some great flavours . however today how the server behaved with us is unacceptable and i hope the owners running thisplacetake note . here is the encounter : my sis-in-law is visiting us in sydney and i very excitedly took her to visit hakiki and wanted her to try the flavours before ordering since she is a big ice cream fan . i asked the server to give us a tasting of their turkish coffee and burnt caramel. my sis-in-law loved the coffee but found the caramel a bit too sweet so wanted to try another flavour before ordering a double scoop. when i asked the server for a tasting of cacao and molasses tahini he says “didn’t i give you a tasting already ?”
we nod our heads and say we wanted to try 2 more flavours . then he asks us “how many did i give you ? “
we say “these 2 flavours “ pointing at the turkish coffee and salted burnt caramel .
his response in the most rude tone -“ thats it, it’s a policy here to not give more than 2 flavours for tasting and i can’t give you any more “ . my sis in law is still astonished at his behaviour and whispering at me to leave while i just quickly ordered the double scoop coffee and burnt caramel and walked out
i hope that dude was having a bad day and even if they have had a policy change he could have politely spoken to us (besides i saw other trying so many flavours so i am a bit confused about the policy change ) . for now i am just plain sad , disheartened and disappointed about this kind of behaviour from one of our favourite ice cream shops!

strawberry & peach : 😍 amazing
burnt caramel : 😍 amazing
melon & feta : 😍 amazing
turkish coffee : 😍 amazing
baklava : 😁 great

if you’re looking for good quality traditional turkish ice cream then hakiki is theplaceto go. their ice creams have that true texture and they also experiment with lots of different flavour combinations. my favourite had to be the burnt caramel. it was insanely addicting. a little overpriced, not going to lie, but if you really want good quality then you’d best be prepared to pay for it.

theplaceis nice and clean. the staff was super friendly.
they had some unusual icecreams, like the melon feta.
the ice cream was different than other places in a good way and felt more stringy that other gelatos.
must have: burnt caramel and the coffee chocolate( not the name, i had forgot the real name)
