the food andpastrieswere both amazing. i loved the little butter cookie that they give you with your coffee. the coffee had great flavor and paired perfectly with the apple danish. my boyfriend's omelette with the gruyere cheese was top notch, the caramelized onions added a nice sweetness. the service was fast and friendly.

after visiting guglhupf, it seems like a nice place to grab a lunch/brunch bite, drink some coffee in the afternoon, or to study. i was really impressed by the environment- very laid back, nice decorations, and there were options for inside seating upstairs and downstairs as well as outside seating. they offered a number of options when we went for lunch and had quite a fewpastriesin the display case.
i ordered the schnitzel, my girlfriend ordered the southwestern omelet, and we split an apple danish from the case. my schnitzel was fried perfectly. it was still tender on the inside but had a nice crust. it lacked seasoning or flavor, however, and the salad it came with was just a basic set of greens. my girlfriend's omelet was a pretty standard omelet. i don't like eggs much, but it seemed very average and she agreed. the danish was good and had a really nice flaky crust. the apples were really tart, and we both would've preferred something sweeter, but the flakiness of the pastry was spot on. based on this, i would think that a lot of the scones, muffins, cookies, etc. here are probably very high quality but i'll have to come back and try some more options to see!

this place is top-notch. lunch was excellent, thepastriesand desserts are as well. i think the mass amount of reviews of this place speaks to that. my wife and i will absolutely keep going here, it puts most places to shame.

very good. the best pretzels of all time. i used to swing by there to grab a dozen for the games or for beer sessions. be careful! eat them quickly. theirpastriesare truly amazing. cream filled this, glaze covered that, fruit layered, etc.

swing by for brunch and a beer.

delicious!. their food is so good and so fresh. breakfast is my favorite, i love the muesli. lunch is great, delicious salads and sandwiches. dinner is a bit over priced and not as good. theirpastriesand bread.... i've not found their equivalent. parking is a pain, so try and go at an off time if you can, around 10 or 3.

fresh and authentic food. when i first visited guglhupf after opening, it was little more than a small bakery selling bread and pastries. since then it has evolved into a much larger restaurant/cafe.

on the bakery side is a great selection ofpastriesand breads. elephant ears, lintzer cookies, and tarts are all great to enjoy with some coffee or tea in the relaxing patio area. the restaurant side offers a lot of delicious sandwiches and brunch dishes that make good use of the excellent bread they produce.

the only negative thing i have to say is that weekend brunch can get quite crowded - good luck finding a parking space!

love (almost) everything about it. the bread is great, the desserts are fantastic and thepastriesare divine, but the coffee...oh, the coffee is so, so bad. somehow weak and burnt at the same time. and stale. it is so offensive that we've taken to driving to the hupf, getting ourpastriesto go, then dropping by parker and otis for espresso on the way back home (reverse problem at p&o, where we love everything but the pastries, which are not bad but not 'hupf caliber). however, the food is terrific, and they made a cake for my dad's 60th birthday at the last minute that was beautiful and very good. it was one of the mousse cakes and it was great because it wasn't overly sweet or overly rich---perfect after a large celebratory meal. seriously, though, someone has to work on the coffee...i don't know if it's the beans or the brewer, but back in the day i seem to remember that they had intelligencia and counter culture, which are worlds above whatever they brew now. all this aside, i love the place, and i must add that i like being able to split my weekend breakfast dollars between two great durham establishments.

i still haven't had an opportunity to eat at guglhupf's cafe so i can't review the meals at all. but i've been to the bakery many, many times. thepastriesat guglhupf are the best in the triangle, maybe even the best in north carolina. it's quite a drive

wonderful experience inside or outside. we've taken all our parents here and they loved it. from the enormous cups of foamy chai paired with richpastriesto the tastefully dressed salads, guglhupf doesn't miss a beat.
outside you sit under umbrellas surrounded by flowers and a water fountain. inside you cozy up to wooden tables under clouds of japanese lanterns and abstract modern art paintings. prices are completely reasonable.
the only annoying thing is you have to fetch your own silverware and napkins.
