good . . . but over-hyped.. like everyone else going to grover's, i was told that they had the best burgers ever. because of this, i passed on a really amazing-looking fish fry to get a "cattleman," their take on a barbecue (cowboy) burger. it was good, don't get me wrong, but it was a burger. and i love a good burger. just don't get all worked up about going there, and definitely don'twaitthree hours for it. you can get just as good a burger at a five guys, if they ever come to town, and even applebees gives them a good run for their money. they get extra points for atmosphere, though, it's a really nice little bar.

i gave them a don't like, but it's more of a not living up to expectations than true dissatisfaction.

always solid. been going here for years. you'll have to expect awaitto get a table, just write your name on the chalkboard. the burgers are absolutely huge for the price, great, great value. since it was featured on tv, it's been even busier, which they definitely deserve! also have a great friday fish fry! takeout is a lot easier, especially if you call ahead to place your order!

stopped by here on a sunday afternoon, but they were closed. came back about a year later on a thursday evening. small place, and as a result, it was very loud. there is a sign posted that they do not accept credit cards, which is slightly annoying, as i usually use my credit card for everything. i had to check how much cash i had on-hand.  we were told to write our names on a chalkboard, which served as thewaitlist. we were seated in about 5 minutes. the service was friendly, although disorganized. everything is a la carte, so a burger, fries and drink add up fast. my wife and i both had the cattleman burger. we split a fries / onion rings combo, as well as a cheeseburger soup as an appetizer. everything tasted great, and we left full (and feeling slightly disgusting). if we were looking to binge on a huge burger and fries, i would return here.

amazing burger!. grover burgers are the best burgers in the area. the only downside to going is that it can take a long time to be seated if you go at dinner time. the burgers are huge and always cooked the way you want them. although thewaitcan sometimes be long, and paying in cash can be annoying, the food is well worth thewaitand the hassle.

grover’s is not a large place and if you have towaitto get a table (like most of the time on weekends apparently) there is not a lot of room to stand around and wait.  the place does give you a relaxed,  comfortable vibe though and while it is more bar than pub, you could definitely take your family here.   the food is good and the place is cool. eet smakelijk!! grover’s bar and grill 9160 transit rd east amherst, ny leave a reply cancel reply enter your comment here... fill in your details below or click an icon to log in: email (required) (address never made public) name (required)

review on grover's. went to grovers in a group of seven people on a saturday at 2:00pm.waittime was only a few minutes which i thought was great! place is very small, but we sat at a table that was near a window away from the bar. seemed to be the best seat in the house, but the only issue was that there were lots of people meandering around waiting for a table. service was very good. burgers and soup were good, but not quite cooked to our specifications. at the end of dinner, we had wanted three bowls of soup to go, but were told they were too busy to get that for us. i took it as the waitress not wanting to help us out, after all, she had already received her tip from us! the other negative was that they don't take charges and don't readily advertise it. they advertise that they are handicap accessible, but it sure doesn't look like it! overall, we all had a very good dinner and would come back again.

best burger ever!. i grew up in east amherst and always thought of grover's as kind of a biker bar. obviously guy fieri's review catapulted this little restaurant into super-stardom, though it was becoming popular even before his review. i've wanted to go to grover's for many months, but it's always packed so i've been waiting for a slow night. (doesn't happen very often.) well, it happened the night of my birthday, and what a great suggestions my husband made to go there for dinner. it's very close to home and it was going on 8, so it was already pretty late. we arrived and sat down immediately, there were plenty of tables. i liked the hunting lodge atmosphere and it has that hometown, casual bar and grill vibe to it. i ordered the bacon and blue burger and a sam adam's seasonal. the beer list isn't extensive, but i was happy with the sam adam's. i ordered the burger medium rare, which i recommend if you want a juicy burger. the burger itself was huge and perfectly cooked. it came with a crisp, fresh, green lettuce leaf, juicy sliced tomatoes, white onion slices (vidalia?) a ton of blue cheese, and crispy bacon on a large, tasty roll. i like that you can order a burger here rare or medium rare. many restaurants won't serve burgers that way due to e. coli scares. anyhow, i was willing to take my chances and i'm so glad i did! the burger was absolutely delicious! it has to be the best burger i ever had. for reviewers who state that the meat is unseasoned, there are burgers with cajun seasoning and so on if you prefer. i however prefer burgers with less seasoning because i think that too much seasoning takes away from the taste of the burger instead of adding to it. i was also surprised that we didn't have towaitvery long for our order to arrive. my husband had the bacon and swiss burger, which he said was delicious, and we split a basket of fries. very tasty with malt vinegar. our waitress was courteous and friendly, so overall a great experience. you could probably duplicate these burgers if you really wanted to using fresh ingredients and grilling the burgers, but with two feet or more of snow on the ground, were not going to be using our bbq grill anytime soon, so this is a nice alternative. if you love a great burger and a small local bar and grill atmosphere, then i highly recommend you try grover's.

plan to share when you go. all i can say its "wow" when we entered this typical down home bar and grill place with the reputation for the large burgers i was not disappointed. the waitress showed us where to write our party on the board andwaitfor a seat. there wasn't an empty seat at the bar either. we eventually got a table and it was worth the wait. however, i would recommend that you share unless you are extremely hungry. the burgers are huge! we ordered large onion rings and a large fries to split with our burgers. we had way too much food on our table but it was all really good. another table mate ordered the cheeseburger soup and has raved about it for a week since we were there.

great place for a burger and fries. they also offer other classic wny fare. you willwaitsome time for a table but it is worth it. tables are on top of each other but folks are respectful of the space. food is fresh, prices are very reasonable and atmosphere is fun. we enjoyed it.

burgers worth waiting for. i'm from toronto and have been going to grover's at least once a month for the past 6 years. they have by far the best burgers any where. the staff are all extremely friendly and the food arrives quickly, so i'm surprised by a few comments from some who say they had poor service. i expect they are people who are just hard to please. my shortestwaitwas 20 minutes. the usualwaitis about an hour. there is a reason people wait, the food is great! if you want a fast burger, go to mcdonalds, but if you love a great burger, grab the chalk, record your name, have a drink at the bar and chat with the locals. time will fly by and you'll eat an awesome burger and likely have half to take home too!
