best burger ever!. i grew up in east amherst and always thought of grover's as kind of a biker bar. obviously guy fieri's review catapulted this little restaurant into super-stardom, though it was becoming popular even before his review. i've wanted to go to grover's for many months, but it's always packed so i've been waiting for a slow night. (doesn't happen very often.) well, it happened the night of my birthday, and what a great suggestions my husband made to go there for dinner. it's very close to home and it was going on 8, so it was already pretty late. we arrived and sat down immediately, there were plenty of tables. i liked the hunting lodge atmosphere and it has that hometown, casual bar and grill vibe to it. i ordered the bacon and blue burger and a sam adam's seasonal. the beer list isn't extensive, but i was happy with the sam adam's. i ordered the burger medium rare, which i recommend if you want a juicy burger. the burger itself was huge and perfectly cooked. it came with a crisp, fresh, green lettuce leaf, juicy sliced tomatoes, white onion slices (vidalia?) a ton of blue cheese, and crispy bacon on a large, tasty roll. i like that you can order a burger here rare or medium rare. many restaurants won't serve burgers that way due to e. coli scares. anyhow, i was willing to take my chances and i'm so glad i did! the burger was absolutely delicious! it has to be the best burger i ever had. for reviewers who state that the meat is unseasoned, there are burgers with cajun seasoning and so on if you prefer. i however prefer burgers with less seasoning because i think that too much seasoning takes away from the taste of the burger instead of adding to it. i was also surprised that we didn't have towaitvery long for our order to arrive. my husband had the bacon and swiss burger, which he said was delicious, and we split a basket of fries. very tasty with malt vinegar. our waitress was courteous and friendly, so overall a great experience. you could probably duplicate these burgers if you really wanted to using fresh ingredients and grilling the burgers, but with two feet or more of snow on the ground, were not going to be using our bbq grill anytime soon, so this is a nice alternative. if you love a great burger and a small local bar and grill atmosphere, then i highly recommend you try grover's.
