awesome burger. edit: apparently grover's now has an atm inside their restaurant. this is better than not having one, but they should still be working to accept credit cards so guests don't need to withdraw cash (and the related fees that go with that).
grover's is a neat little burger joint. the menu is very limited to basicallyburgersor typical fried fare, which they do well. this is a very casual and laid back kind of place.
we all ordered burgers, which were monstrous. the toppings were good, burger was cooked right, meat tasted fresh, buns were fresh. overall it was one of the betterburgersi've had in buffalo, but the big attraction is probably just the sheer size of them.
the bar had a lot of drink offerings, i had a guinness.
the service was pretty good, a little pushy but that's probably because it's such a small place and they need to turn tables quickly. overall not bad though, server was friendly and got everything correct.
i have two main complaints, and they're big ones:
first, they only accept cash and they do not have an atm on site. in 2014 this is just crazy, and a massive inconvenience for a big portion of their guests i'm guessing. they really need to step it up and accept credit cards, or put an atm out front/in the bar.
secondly, there's no hostess. the way to get on the waiting list is through writing your name on a chalkboard, which isn't intuitive for first time guests. also, you sort of have to stand around the board to make sure someone else doesn't just grab your table if you're up next. this is something guests shouldn't have to worry about when coming to a restaurant to spend money to eat. again, step up your game grover's, hire a hostess, and let them mitigate the seating. don't make it a free for all.
overall it was pretty good, i'd go back but the limited seating capacity, inability to accept credit cards for payment, hectic seating process, and limited menu are definitely deterring factors though.
