darjeeling is my favorite summer getaway and it's never truly complete without a visit to glenary's and keventers!

glenary's is a three storied eatery located at chauk bazaar, darjeeling. there is a beautiful cafe cum bakery in the basement and ground floor. the first floor consists of a luxurious dining area that has both indoor and outdoor seating.

i have visited this place many times and of the many things i've tried my favorite are-

1. chocolate tart------ recommended! a perfectly baked tart with a lovely smell of butter, coated with chocolate and filled with the smoothest chocolate ganache!
they cost rs.50 each.
i wish i could find these in kolkata too! 😭❤️

2. chocolate roll----- a crispy wafer roll, filled with whipped cream and coated in chocolate.

3. croissant------ recommended!! the softest, fluffiest croissants i've ever had, made with ample quantities if butter.

4. paris brest----- choux pastry with a filling of smooth coffee cream! tastes quite good.

5. cheese pie------ not the best one i've had but tastesgoodnonetheless.

6. apple pie----- it tastes best when warm.

7. sausage and bacon pizza----- recommended! they put generous quantities of cheese, sausage and bacon on top. one is enough for 2-3 people.

cost for two: rs.300-400

this bakery was established during the british colonial days and the ambience here gives you a feel of the yesteryears. the iconic red telephone booth stands in the middle of the hall,
; an antique coin register, small coffee tables add to the beauty. the staff is polite but the service is a bit slow as this place is usually very busy throughout the day.

this place is etched as a part of my memories of darjeeling and i can't wait to go back and indulge in more of this amazing food. 💞

an absolutely overhyped place!!! the onlygoodpart is ambience!!
ordered: whole wheat croissant, black forest cake, hot chocolate, bacon and sausage pizza.

except pizza, rest of the items were an absolute flop!!

service:2/5
food :2/5
ambience:4/5 (the balcony seating area was too congested but the view was awesome)

they charged 105/- extra for cappuccino which we didn't order!!
so,be carefully before you pay!!!

not agoodexplanation!!
never gonna visit again😶

this heritage breakfast joint, with its heritage breakfast platters, is sure to put a smile on your face the moment you step in. without a shadow of a doubt, however, this place is pricier than its immediate competitors.

in savories, i particularly enjoyed the ham platter, sausages, and the chicken roll (available at the counter)... but somehow could not bring to like their omelettes at all. the blueberry muffin is an all-time-favorite here (and so is the hot chocolate, of course). but come what may, please oh please grab at least agood250 grams of “the legendary” liquor chocolates from the counter before you leave.

if it's not too chilly, make sure to sit outside to enjoy the view... and if the weather is clear, kanchenjunga will surely make your meal a memorable one.

glenarys.. a name that comes simultaneously with the name darjeeling.. a name that is like a love to every food loving tourists & travelers visiting this beautiful hill town of darjeeling..

the bakery section of glenary's is just a love.. while you enter inside, the freshly baked smell of the cakes and muffins and chocolates will send a spellbound sensation throughout your mind and soul.. and the more you look into the displayed items, the more you will feel mad from inside!!! there are soo many varieties there.. which one to buy???

but alas, our hunger is big and stomach is limited.. so eventually have to filter from the tempting list and decide on some which can be enjoyed with a peace of mind 🙂
and finally decided just to have 4 items for the time being..

♡ japanese cheese cake - smooth and soft and melting in your mouth is what would describe this lovely cake from glenary's.. just loved it..
♡ blueberry cheese cake - one of the best cheese cakes i had till date.. prepared in a 3 layered combination of blueberry on top, full cheesy affair in the mid and cake part on the bottom, it's a heavenly item and must have from this outlet..
♡ choco roll - another lovely item from the house of glenary's.. although from outside it seems to be a simple choco roll, but this one is also made of 3 layers; a lovely white cream in the mid which is being surrounded by a nutty layer and then a chocolate layer on the top.. the combination is really awesome!!
♡ bacon quiche pie - coming out from the sweeth tooth, we decided to have a pie prepared from bacon.. pie was a first time for me.. and it didn't disappoint me though.. fresh and tasty, it was reallygoodone..

on a final note, the glenary's bakery will surely spoil you with a variety of splendid bakery items.. so try as many of them as you can while you visit this lovely hill-station darjeeling 🙂😍🤩

if u have gone to darjeeling, but never had anything at glenary, then sorry guys!! your darjeeling trip is incomplete. its a must recommendable place. it is situated opposite to the kfc, near mall. lets discuss regarding some points:

1. ambiance: this place has the best ambiance in darjeeling. just spellbound!! inner side and rooftop are also available. but my recommendation to take enjoy on the rooftop. well decorated also. in one word, "classy'.

2. food and quality: as the place, the food was really awesome. i had ordered cheese omelette and hot chocolate. trust me!! the cheese omelette was so yummy and so cheesy!! the size of the cheese omlette was huge, even enough for 2 persons. this cheese omelette is most recommended from my side. along with, the hot chocolate just had stolen my mind!! sogoodit was. in all, their food and quality is too good.

3. price: now lets come to this important point. i had become so strange with their prices. too much pocket friendly and reasonable also compare to ambiance and food quality. cheese was 100rupees and hot chocolate was 70 rupees only.

in all, i must say again that this place is must recommended from my side if you ever visit darjeeling atleast for once. this place has become an iconic place for all food lovers. the behaviour of their staffs are so polite. at last, i want to say that i went to darjeeling at a peak season and they maintained their hygiene and quality same as they do. it had done me so strange!! so, they deserve at least 5stars. :) really!! it was great experience.

visited this place to have breakfast during my trip to darjeeling with mrinal debnath . our experience here is not sogoodbecause the staffs of the place were not so welcoming but more ignorant to serve us. we got a seat and for 15 to 20 minutes there was none to take order. finally they took the order but the food arrived very late. they took more than 30 minutes to prepare two cheese omletes. we felt very bad with their service. the taste of the omlete was okaish. we took a parcel of two chicken rolls and they tasted very good. only for that i am giving 3 stars out of 5 stars.

even though my experience in the glenary's restaurant was disappointing, it was totally compensated by the desserts in the glenary's bakery. we ordered a doughnut, cheesecake and a scone. also, packed a brownie and fruit cake. everything was very tasty and the fruitcake lasted till 3 days even though we were travelling to kalimpong. the flavours are sogoodand everything is fresh and inviting. you just feel like ordering each item from the display.

if you have been to darjeeling and never tried a single bite of various confectionery and baked goods of glenarys then surely you are missing out.
it's one of the oldest bakery shop in whole of west bengal.
there is a restaurant and a pub( the buzz) attached to the bakery. which offersgoodfood and drinks.
i love cream rolls, chocolates, banana cake, also it serves great sandwich and burger.

my second visit to darjeeling and i was excited just like the first time. as i am too fond of bakery food items brought back home truck loads of food products from this place. there was plain sponge cake 140/- and fruit cake 170/-,loaded with cashew nuts which stole my heart. took home four packets of the regular biscuits 50/- each, and chocolate-butter cookie 4 packets 250/- each. every single food was ingoodcondition till i opened at my place after 24 hours carrying them through different temperatures till kolkata.

dined at this place with a cup of coffee, red velvet cake, japanese cheese cake and cheese-chicken pie. oh my god!! each and everything was so delicious that forgot to take pictures of them all and the price has lost from my memory because i was deeply engrossed in eating them.

wish them all the gastronomic success!

easily one of the best baking addresses of west bengal, you must try their cheese straw, donuts, chocolate cake and jam tart. the blueberry muffins weregoodtoo. they have beautiful outdoor and indoor seating with mountain view. but we preferred seating at the restaurant upstairs and packed our goodies as take away.
