darjeeling is my favorite summer getaway and it's never truly complete without a visit toglenary'sand keventers!

glenary's is a three storied eatery located at chauk bazaar, darjeeling. there is a beautiful cafe cum bakery in the basement and ground floor. the first floor consists of a luxurious dining area that has both indoor and outdoor seating.

i have visited this place many times and of the many things i've tried my favorite are-

1. chocolate tart------ recommended! a perfectly baked tart with a lovely smell of butter, coated with chocolate and filled with the smoothest chocolate ganache!
they cost rs.50 each.
i wish i could find these in kolkata too! 😭❤️

2. chocolate roll----- a crispy wafer roll, filled with whipped cream and coated in chocolate.

3. croissant------ recommended!! the softest, fluffiest croissants i've ever had, made with ample quantities if butter.

4. paris brest----- choux pastry with a filling of smooth coffee cream! tastes quite good.

5. cheese pie------ not the best one i've had but tastes good nonetheless.

6. apple pie----- it tastes best when warm.

7. sausage and bacon pizza----- recommended! they put generous quantities of cheese, sausage and bacon on top. one is enough for 2-3 people.

cost for two: rs.300-400

this bakery was established during the british colonial days and the ambience here gives you a feel of the yesteryears. the iconic red telephone booth stands in the middle of the hall,
; an antique coin register, small coffee tables add to the beauty. the staff is polite but the service is a bit slow as this place is usually very busy throughout the day.

this place is etched as a part of my memories of darjeeling and i can't wait to go back and indulge in more of this amazing food. 💞

when in darjeeling, this spacious, insta-worthy bakery is the spanking place to be for solid breakfast. seating is limited, and most come by to quietly immerse themselves in the soothing aroma of baking cakes and brewing darjeeling tea atglenary'sbakery & cafe. this beautiful and nostalgic colonial space is set to be a hot hangout around the darjeeling mall.

it was raining like cats and dog since morning and my mind is telling me - no tea or coffee at hotel today, go straight forglenary'sand sip their hot chocolate while adoring the chill winds. the hot chocolate here is great for a rainy day boost — a perfect blend of dark chocolate and milk, and is the perfect cocoa fix to start the day with. let the cool wind gush in with the drizzle, let it rain!

when the weather forecast calls for a cold rainy day, hot roasted pork sub sandwich sounds the most appealing. don't miss out on the decadent roasted pork sub sandwich, featuring lightly seasoned roasted pork meat accompanied by onions, bell pepper, mushrooms, iceberg lettuce, cheese and a spread of chilli aioli sandwiched between multigrain sub.

after receiving an uncountable no of recommendation..100s of pictures and lot of praising finally it became possible to be there inglenary'sin last month..was there to have coffee and some snacks as i got some time in my hand before leaving darjeeling...for city people like us who have to bear with heavy temperature nd that typical hot and humid nature in kolkata throughout the year it's an awesome experience to have their meal sitting @ that altitude..in front of those majestic mountain range..in a pretty cold temperature.
lovely ambience..people are very much polite and courteous..look and decor was very cute and charming..you'll have that foreign like feeling over there and found it really cool.
now,the main thing, their food..well,foodie people must visit this place at least once,if possible..coffee and all the items we had were very much satisfying..sandwich tasted wow..price range low..
highly recommended!!

glenarys.. a name that comes simultaneously with the name darjeeling.. a name that is like a love to every food loving tourists & travelers visiting this beautiful hill town of darjeeling..

the bakery section ofglenary'sis just a love.. while you enter inside, the freshly baked smell of the cakes and muffins and chocolates will send a spellbound sensation throughout your mind and soul.. and the more you look into the displayed items, the more you will feel mad from inside!!! there are soo many varieties there.. which one to buy???

but alas, our hunger is big and stomach is limited.. so eventually have to filter from the tempting list and decide on some which can be enjoyed with a peace of mind 🙂
and finally decided just to have 4 items for the time being..

♡ japanese cheese cake - smooth and soft and melting in your mouth is what would describe this lovely cake from glenary's.. just loved it..
♡ blueberry cheese cake - one of the best cheese cakes i had till date.. prepared in a 3 layered combination of blueberry on top, full cheesy affair in the mid and cake part on the bottom, it's a heavenly item and must have from this outlet..
♡ choco roll - another lovely item from the house of glenary's.. although from outside it seems to be a simple choco roll, but this one is also made of 3 layers; a lovely white cream in the mid which is being surrounded by a nutty layer and then a chocolate layer on the top.. the combination is really awesome!!
♡ bacon quiche pie - coming out from the sweeth tooth, we decided to have a pie prepared from bacon.. pie was a first time for me.. and it didn't disappoint me though.. fresh and tasty, it was really good one..

on a final note, theglenary'sbakery will surely spoil you with a variety of splendid bakery items.. so try as many of them as you can while you visit this lovely hill-station darjeeling 🙂😍🤩

even though my experience in theglenary'srestaurant was disappointing, it was totally compensated by the desserts in theglenary'sbakery. we ordered a doughnut, cheesecake and a scone. also, packed a brownie and fruit cake. everything was very tasty and the fruitcake lasted till 3 days even though we were travelling to kalimpong. the flavours are so good and everything is fresh and inviting. you just feel like ordering each item from the display.

about the food, the bakery serves you with fresh bread. the sub sandwich and pizzas are made with fresh slices of cheese and they were delicious. you can order their authentic darjeeling tea which also worth a sip.glenary'sis also renowned for its pastries. we recommend the red velvet cake.

must-try: chicken sub sandwich, chicken pizza, red velvet cake, darjeeling tea

about the ambiance,
the bakery is from the british colonial era and has an architecture that used to host the aristocrat people of that time. they have a balcony dining space where you can enjoy your meal with the view of kanchenjunga. the wall has been beautified with antiques such as clocks and showpieces. the balcony is separated from the indoors by a glass wall beneath whose plants with red flowers add to the mesmerizing ambiance.

popularglenary'ssits above the famous bakery-cafe of the 1950s and is a classy darjeeling staple. when you hear about darjeeling, the first name automatically blinks in your mind is "glenary's". it was my first ever visit to darjeeling, and on my stay, i visitedglenary'sfour times. it clearly, depicts how amazed i was with the place. since it was build in the 50s era, the floor is made of solid wood and so are the doors, and windows. one can spot the old and classic newspapers from the british era, framed and hung on the wall. the view from the outside sitting area is something i cannot express into words, it's so breathtakingly beautiful. one can even spot the kanchenjunga ranges, on a clear day.

(note :- the bakery and the restaurant are different, the restaurant is on the 2nd floor of the building.)

coming to the food part, we had -
their famous darjeeling green tea, sausages, egg cheese omelette, brownies, chocolate tart, hot chocolate and capuccino.

i really don't have to say much about their bakery, because the spread is so huge and unique, that one will actually take hours to order something. also, chocolate tart is one of their famous and in demand item. i loved the brownie too, it was filled with nuts.
the darjeeling tea was served on a pot and smelled heavenly. the cheese omelette and sausages were hot and crispy and i totally cherished it to bits and pieces. and, on the cold rainy nights/mornings, the hot chocolate is the ultimate saviour.

i had the best breakfast of my life. and i couldn't be more happy. the attendees were really co-operative and friendly. one extra star for their service too.
we have had also, parcelled some choco tarts for home. and, i hope i visit them real soon, again. ❤️

it's impossible visit darjeeling and not visit glenary's. it's like the 2 names accompany each other. i was at darjeeling for 3 days & i couldn't resist visitingglenary'sat least once each day! it's a paradise for a sweet tooth & bakery lover like me!

from the mousse to the pizzas to the cheesecakes to the overloaded sandwiches to the hot chocolate & pastries, i tried to taste as many varieties as i could within those 3 days & i'm so satisfied to say that it was absolutely worth the trials.

the ambience, the hospitality, & especially the food, everything was perfect! i'm absolutely overwhelmed with my experience at here!
