order: burrata with house salad (395), salted egg (210), stuffed chicken (395), smegg (450), bomb (405), meat (515), pitcher iced tea (125), pitcher calamansi (150).
place: gino's at serendra bgc is small but not tiny, clean, with well placed tables and chairs and with just enough space in between to maneuver.
staff: attentive and always ready with a smile. when asked about specific dishes on the menu, they are able to provide satisfactory answers and ready with a recommendation.
food: burratta with house salad - ordinary romaine lettuce but the cheese is to die for! pasta - salted egg and stuffed chicken - each order is good for 2. stuffed chicken pasta was ok but the salted egg is such a unique twist to an ordinary pasta it's like a pinoy version of carbonara and it's soooo good. i kid you not. pizza: smegg, bomb, and meat - all recommended by the staff. neopolitan style pizza and each order has 6 huge slices good for 3 or 2 really hungry people.
impression: i'd come back for the burrata with house salad and salted egg pasta alone. and maybe a slice of meat pizza. throw in a slice of smegg, too.
negative observation: maybe this is nothing, maybe i'm reading too much into things but one female waitress acting as a door greeter while i was there rolled her eyes and eyed a female customer who was exiting as soon as the customer had her back turned. she then smirked at a fellow male waiter silently laughing behind the customer's back conveying some sort of message. it gave me the impression that they had talked about the female customer and perhaps had a not-so-positive opinion about her. october 12, 2015 around 8pm and i was seated facing the door in full view to observe this particular incident. like i said, perhaps i am reading too much into things and perhaps the look the waitress conveyed or tried to hide behind the exiting customer's back is misinterpreted by me. in which case, i apologize for the misconception. however, if it turns out not to be some misguided interpretation of facial expression, then i hope this waitress is aware that even if the retreating customer had her back turned, other customers might not be so unaware.
overall: i would definitely recommend gino's to my friends and i cannot wait to go back for another round of salted egg pasta and burrata.
note: as to the negative impression section - it may be an isolated incident perpetuated by a single waitress and i hope this will not count against your decision in trying out gino's.
p.s. try the salted egg pasta!
