four pegs beer lounge

this place has the best chicken and waffle sandwich and some awesome fried green tomatoes. i'm always intrigued by the different flavors of creme brulee. as far asservice i've not had a bad experience but it goes from average to good. normally go at lunch but i have been around for dinner. i prefer lunch time due to less noise.

bad service; cold food. i wanted to like this place. this is the second time we have been there andservicewas terrible. it was like the kitchen just made the orders they wanted to make and ignored others. total space cadets. if they want to run a business, they should try to do so. if they want to have a party, they should just do that. but what they're doing doesn't work.

hit or miss. been to this place three times by now since we live close by. first time, the very aloof bartender with the attitude of a snooty maitre d' took our order with a show of annoyance. we waited with trepidation but the girl who delivered the food was sweet, attentive. food was good. so we went back again. well, the bartender hasn't changed.servicethis time was ok, had to ask for silverware, ketchup etc. so we went back the third time (we do live very close by :-)), and it sucked. the order took 15 mins, food came an hour later, dessert order got missing. the chef came out and gave us a card for a free appetizer but don't think we are going to be using that any time soon. we really wanted to like the place but the owners must not care about creating a clientele.

never again.servicesucks. burgers took an hour while people who
ordered 30 minutes later got their fried chicken
before us???? either old chicken laying around or the
worlds coldest grill.burgers were grey and flavorless.
i asked the cold dude behind the bar if they came with fries
and he said yes but failed to mention they were drowned
in cheesey goop - gross....... do yourself a huge favor
and go to one of the other great places in louisville
and skip this lackluster establishment.

haven't been back. had the worstserviceever @ this place a while ago. i want to support our neighborhood, but every single member of the serving staff would not even acknowledge our presence & our server was rude & acted put out to serve us. find another job if you don't enjoy interacting with people! horribleservicethat has made us never go back. i heard that four pegs changed owners or management. did they change out the staff as well?

good food, good beer.. four pegs (formerly germantown cafe in my childhood), is pretty good. the food has always been delicious... my favorite are the fried green tomatoes (maybe the best i've had in the city?), and the fries. the chicken and waffle isnt too bad, but its severely heavy and definitely worth splitting. a great beer selection is available and theserviceis fast and straight to the point.

food is pretty good and well priced.serviceis terrible. staff were rude and uninterested. i won't be back.

food- decent but nothing i'd go back for. beer selection- meh, there are better in town.service- really meh. bad system. had to go up to the bar to order, to get napkins, to get silverware, to get another beer, to pay... you get the idea. pretty much self serve.

this is now one of my favorite places in louisville. the fried green tomatoes, hummus and the philly sandwich were all perfect and delicious. wednesday night they have $4 pints. we sat at the bar and theservicewas good.

great food, great beer. when my friends and i are looking for a place to hang out, four pegs is always high on the list. the food is delicious, especially the beer glazed burger and chicken and waffle sandwich. the beer list is also amazing. some of my favorite beers in the world (dogfish head 120 minute, founders kentucky breakfast stout, and ommegang three philosophers to name a few) have all been on tap here!

i've noticed that quite a few people have commented on theservicebeing "bad." however, i don't understand what they're talking about. the staff is awesome, and they're really knowledgeable about the beer and food. i suppose that ordering at the bar might throw a few people off, but the bartenders have always been prompt whenever i've asked them for something.

overall, if you like good beer and tasty food, then you'll probably like four pegs.

torn about this place. the food was so incredibly good and theservicewas so incredibly bad. they have the best fish and chips in town, even better than irish rover! the hamburgers are very good, fries are perfect. you feel you are putting the bartender out by
plaing an order, terrible system. everytime you need something or they forget something(often) you have to go wait for bartender and ask and receive his rath for interrupting him. by end of meal we were practically drawing straws to see who would go. shame a place with food this good feels the need to make their customers jump through hoops to eat. i would go back for food, my gf will be a hard sell.

great food, terrible service. i have been there twice now and had the same experience. all to food we had both times has been very good! the beer selection is also very nice. theservicehas been terrible both times. the first time we went we actually left after appetizers because the attitude of the bartenders was awful! if you really feel like you are doing a customer a favor by listening to what they need and getting it for them "whenever you have time" then get another job. i really can't believe that the owner wants these kind of people working for him. i actually know people who are friends with the owner, so i feel bad giving a review like this. last night (the second time we went) we thought we would give the place a second chance. the attitude was the same. i guess we were ruining the bartenders night by asking for things. he was also very slow. it seemed like he would get around to getting your beer whenever he felt like it. i can understand waiting when you are very busy, but there were only about 10 people there including us! i have been a server/bartender/manager for about 15 years and have worked in much busier environments than either night we went. one place i used to work i would have at least 60 people on my side of the bar and still give tableservicewhile working behind the bar, getting server drinks and taking to go orders. i would even do it with an attitude that made people want to come back! after this second trip i will sadly not be back to four pegs.
