four pegs beer lounge

hit or miss. been to this place three times by now since we live close by. first time, the very aloof bartender with the attitude of a snooty maitre d' took our order with a show of annoyance. we waited with trepidation but the girl who delivered the food was sweet, attentive. food was good. so we wentbackagain. well, the bartender hasn't changed. service this time was ok, had to ask for silverware, ketchup etc. so we wentbackthe third time (we do live very close by :-)), and it sucked. the order took 15 mins, food came an hour later, dessert order got missing. the chef came out and gave us a card for a free appetizer but don't think we are going to be using that any time soon. we really wanted to like the place but the owners must not care about creating a clientele.

in response to "never again". just so everyone knows, this is coming from one of the bartenders at four pegs. i was the "cold person" behind the bar who served the people who wrote the review "never again." and i wanted to clarify a few things. first of all, we were busy that night and i was sendingbackone entree order every 3 minutes for 3 straight hours, so our kitchen was a little backed up. nevertheless, it did not take a hour for them to get there burgers. they were not even there for a hour. i also tried explaining that certain items can get backed up if everybody orders the same thing, while other items can be made faster if they don't require the same parts of the kitchen to make as the backed up items. i guess he didn't think that was a sufficient answer. as for "the cheesy goop," that was due to a kitchen error that caused them to get free poutine. i didn't realize that they had received poutine by mistake until after they left, but if they had asked, we could have made fresh fries for free in three to five minutes. finally, in addition to apologizing for the wait, i even went so far as to give them a coupon for a free app for their next visit. but i guess they won't be using it. i know that you can't please them all, but i wanted the record to stand that i at least tried.

germantown highlight. so much better with service, good burger and beer.

service sucks. but who really cares? this is a great place to throwbacksome beers and burgers, won't break the bank. stop in when you're in the neighborhood, not really worth driving across town to visit.

compliments to the chef. to put it simply, the food at four pegs is amazing. when my friends and i stopped by for lunch on saturday, it was pretty slow, which meant that we got to talk to the chef about the food. and based off what he told (and based off my taste buds), four pegs is now one of my favorite places in town. they practically make everything from scratch, and it really shows in things like the beer glazed burger and chicken and waffle sandwich. i'm looking forward to goingbackin the future and trying the other items from their menu.

oh, and the beer is pretty awesome as well.

meh. food- decent but noth.... meh.
food- decent but nothing i'd gobackfor. beer selection- meh, there are better in town. service - really meh. bad system. had to go up to the bar to order, to get napkins, to get silverware, to get another beer, to pay... you get the idea. pretty much self serve.

torn about this place. the food was so incredibly good and the service was so incredibly bad. they have the best fish and chips in town, even better than irish rover! the hamburgers are very good, fries are perfect. you feel you are putting the bartender out by
plaing an order, terrible system. everytime you need something or they forget something(often) you have to go wait for bartender and ask and receive his rath for interrupting him. by end of meal we were practically drawing straws to see who would go. shame a place with food this good feels the need to make their customers jump through hoops to eat. i would gobackfor food, my gf will be a hard sell.

great food, terrible service. i have been there twice now and had the same experience. all to food we had both times has been very good! the beer selection is also very nice. the service has been terrible both times. the first time we went we actually left after appetizers because the attitude of the bartenders was awful! if you really feel like you are doing a customer a favor by listening to what they need and getting it for them "whenever you have time" then get another job. i really can't believe that the owner wants these kind of people working for him. i actually know people who are friends with the owner, so i feel bad giving a review like this. last night (the second time we went) we thought we would give the place a second chance. the attitude was the same. i guess we were ruining the bartenders night by asking for things. he was also very slow. it seemed like he would get around to getting your beer whenever he felt like it. i can understand waiting when you are very busy, but there were only about 10 people there including us! i have been a server/bartender/manager for about 15 years and have worked in much busier environments than either night we went. one place i used to work i would have at least 60 people on my side of the bar and still give table service while working behind the bar, getting server drinks and taking to go orders. i would even do it with an attitude that made people want to come back! after this second trip i will sadly not bebackto four pegs.
