food: okay. service: terrible. my hubby and i are on vacation. it rained most of the day today and we were experiencing "cabin fever”...so, we wanted to venture out for dinner. after reading many of the posted reviews on urbanspoon, i suggested that we try fisherman’s corner. the outside of the restaurant was what i expected it to be (an older mobile home/bait-n-tackle shack). upon entering, we were greeted by a sullen hostess, who asked if we wanted to sit inside or “on the patio.” we decided to sit "on the patio”, which was a mistake because it wasn’t really a “patio.” it was an enclosed deck...and all of the windows were closed. to make matters worse, the fans were off and there was no air conditioning; it felt like a sauna (outdoor dining in may...in florida = open the windows, please). we waited several minutes before our server, theresa, appeared and asked what we would like to drink. we each requested ice water...and waited. and waited. and waited...no theresa, no ice water. about 10 minutes after requesting our ice waters, theresa finally emerged...and had a laughter-filled conversation with the patrons at the table behind us. finally, she asked if we were ready to order. i asked again (as politely as possible) if we could please have some ice water first (we were in a sauna, remember). she mumbled something and walked away. several more minutes passed before theresa delivered our ice waters. we placed our order (hubs orderedshrimplinguini, i ordered the bronzed chicken) and waited. i knew from reading other reviews that we would likely be in for a good wait. i was right...and that’s fine; good food takes time, right about 20 minutes later theresa delivered our entrees. both entrees looked appetizing, although i must point out that they were enormous...and that's not necessarily a good thing, considering the fact that they were expensive and bland. my husband’s linguini ($18.00) was presented in the form of a huge pasta mound, which appeared to be large enough to feed 4 people. my bronzed chicken came with 3 breast cutlets and 2 sides (what?!?!?). thankfully, i ordered a salad as one of those sides, bringing our total to just under $42.00. at some point during our meal, theresa stopped by and stated that she would, “be right back with some more water.” again, we waited several minutes, with no sign of theresa. after both our glasses were totally empty, i flagged down another table’s server and apologetically asked for more water (which was delivered right away). several minutes later, theresa finally came by with a pitcher of water. regarding the excessive size of the entrees...perhaps they should consider lowering prices by $5.00-or--$6.00 in addition to cutting the portion sizes (at least!) in half. overall, the food was somewhat tasty, but certainly not worth the price. the service was absolutely, completely unacceptable. i doubt we’ll be back...
