food: okay. service: terrible. my hubby and i are on vacation. it rained most of the day today and we were experiencing "cabin fever”...so, we wanted to venture out for dinner. after reading many of the posted reviews on urbanspoon, i suggested that we try fisherman’s corner. the outside of the restaurant was what i expected it to be (an older mobile home/bait-n-tackle shack). upon entering, we were greeted by a sullen hostess, who asked if we wanted to sit inside or “on the patio.” we decided to sit "on the patio”, which was a mistake because it wasn’t really a “patio.” it was an enclosed deck...and all of the windows were closed. to make matters worse, the fans were off and there was no air conditioning; it felt like a sauna (outdoor dining in may...in florida = open the windows, please). we waited several minutes before our server, theresa, appeared and asked what we would like to drink. we each requested ice water...and waited. and waited. and waited...no theresa, no ice water. about 10 minutes after requesting our ice waters, theresa finally emerged...and had a laughter-filled conversation with the patrons at the table behind us. finally, she asked if we were ready to order. i asked again (as politely as possible) if we could please have some ice water first (we were in a sauna, remember). she mumbled something and walked away. several more minutes passed before theresa delivered our ice waters. we placed our order (hubs ordered shrimp linguini, i ordered the bronzed chicken) and waited. i knew from reading other reviews that we would likely be in for a good wait. i was right...and that’s fine; good food takes time, right about 20 minutes later theresa delivered our entrees. both entrees looked appetizing, although i must point out that they were enormous...and that's not necessarily a good thing, considering the fact that they were expensive and bland. my husband’s linguini ($18.00) was presented in the form of a huge pasta mound, which appeared to be large enough to feed 4 people. my bronzed chicken came with 3 breast cutlets and 2 sides (what?!?!?). thankfully, i ordered a salad as one of those sides, bringing our total to just under $42.00. at some point during our meal, theresa stopped by and stated that she would, “be rightbackwith some more water.” again, we waited several minutes, with no sign of theresa. after both our glasses were totally empty, i flagged down another table’s server and apologetically asked for more water (which was delivered right away). several minutes later, theresa finally came by with a pitcher of water. regarding the excessive size of the entrees...perhaps they should consider lowering prices by $5.00-or--$6.00 in addition to cutting the portion sizes (at least!) in half. overall, the food was somewhat tasty, but certainly not worth the price. the service was absolutely, completely unacceptable. i doubt we’ll be back...

we went over the weekend 10/10/2015 for dinner. it was quite busy from what i heard and read. the food was good but not all that great. even worse the waiter didn't give my husband and i any attention. he seemed to be always in a hurry and didn't seem like he wanted to serve us. there were people behind us who he talked for a good 10 minutes and we waited for him to give us our check. the fried cheesecake is not worth trying. he is literally taste like pancake with a dash of cheesecake. probably is better made at home. i don't think we plan on goingbackthere. just from the service we got.

love it!. this is definitely a "don't judge a book by its cover" kind of place. i'll admit pulling in to this place i was concerned. i walked in and i was still a little concerned, but they had white table cloths so it can't be too bad right? the food was absolutely amazing...worth the 30min wait. it's a tiny place and very popular so i recommend reservations even during the week. it was so good i wentbacka week later when i had guests visiting from out of town.
the seafood was incredibly fresh. unfortunately they didn't have crab cakes when i wentbackthe second time, but i respect the fact that they don't serve you something that isn't freshly caught...the crab cakes are delicious. having come from the d.c. area i'm spoiled by maryland blue crab cake expectations even though i'm in pensacola. i've been really let down on more than one occasion since moving here, but they did not disappoint. a lot of crab and not a lot of breading/fillers...perfect. steak was done perfectly and the bread pudding was equally perfect...that's another popular dessert item in the gulf and for some reason restaurants think they can't screw it up, but they do; just because it's simple to make does not mean the flavor should be simple; it's a popular thing to make with stale bread, but it tastes like it when you do. i've had bricks of bread pudding and i've had melt in your mouth bread pudding...fisherman's is melt in your mouth. can't wait to go back...favorite restaurant in the area hands down.

the service has gotten so bad that we have quit going here. if you are in a hurry don't even try it. no warmth for locals as in the early days when they would move heaven and earth to quickly seat and dote on devoted natives. well the honeymoon is over, the tourists can have it.

best food in pensacola!!!!. the west side has a new jewel in her crown!
fisherman's corner has completely changed course as of january, 2011 under the brilliance and integrity of jim green and his extremely talented team of chefs! my husband and i heard through the grapevine that exciting things were happening at this formerly pitiful frozen food hole in the wall and went to check it out for ourselves---oh my heavens! divine! scrumptious! the best!!!! our first visit this week (yes, we had to return for another taste 2 days later) between the two of us we sampled the calamari (deemed the "best i ever had" by my husband---very lightly breaded, huge and meaty. i tried some too, and i even liked them and i don't even like calamari) and the fried green tomatoes. the fried green tomatoes are served in a yummy stack stuffed with thick creamy slices of dreamy melted mozzerella and topped with a really flavorful crawfish sauce. reeaaallly good. my squeeze had the fried oyster dinner with loaded baked potato (which to his delight was perfectly cooked with crispy skin, and clearly had never spent a single moment in a steamer) and it was so yummy he wentbackfor seconds on dinner #2. my entree on evening #1 was the fish taco. i have heard of fish tacos and thought it sounded kind of gross, but finally curiosity forced me to take the plunge. let me describe: perfectly fried, juicy tender morsels of grouper, the thinnest ribbons of lightly seasoned coleslaw, a flavorful mix of black beans and corn and just enough sour cream to bind it all together wrapped in a soft flour tortilla. it was light, fresh and really delightful! it was also huge---took 1/2 of it home and zapped it in the microwave for lunch the next day---still yummy! on our second visit we also sampled the cajun mac and cheese (moans of pleasure) and i had the shrimp and grits. oh, baby! you have got to try the shrimp and grits! huge shrimp perfectly cooked swimming in the creamiest sauce was the perfect complement to the enormous super crisp ball of fried cheese grits served in the center of it all---i had to take a picture. there are no words. . . i'm in love. that's all i can tell you. run to this place. go now! throw lots of money at them, if they ever go out of business i will just have to sit down and cry. oh, man. . . almost forgot to mention the gumbo: the most amazing roux i've ever put in my mouth filled with super fresh ingredients. full of groceries. perfection. the wait staff is awesome too---great service, very upbeat girls, really friendly and sharp. great personalities, very knowledgable and eager to please. kudos! five stars all across the board. very reasonable prices, too!

bad service. i've eaten their several times but today the service was bad. my crab cake was salty and not very good. the waitress camebackto our table three times during the time we were there, once to bring the food and we reordered drinks at that time and the second time to bring our check. i was really disappointed. we have eaten here several times and it's always been good. hopefully this is not the beginning of the end.

great dining experience. my husband and i had the pleasure of dining at fisherman's corner last may, 2013. it was by far the best food we had during our entire stay. we loved it so much, we ate there 3 times and sent our daughter and son-in-law. we can't wait to getbackthere when we come to perdido beach this may.
god bless

world's worst waitress. i always take out of town guests here but never again. the server we had last night was confrontational, belligerent, rude and downright nasty. i have never had a dining experience where the server actually wanted to pick a fight with the customers. we were given a new server who excused her behavior because she was having a bad day. go home if you can't do your job..don't take it out on the customer. management should have sent her home, so i put the blame on them. even though the food was good, this completely ruined the dining experience. with so many good new restaurants in the orange beach area, there is no need to ever gobackthere and risk being insulted by the wait staff. i will never ever gobackand plan to tell my coworkers about this experience today. oh..they did comp us a free dessert.

wow. my wife and i had been enjoying the day and were very casually dressed. so we figure, we'll go in here, ( fisherman's corner ) it's casual , thet'll probably just have sandwiches and over breaded ,fried shrimp. we didn't even look at a menu. we just ordered a couple of salads. but then it happened, our server, brought out an order to the table next to us. it was fried green tomatoes, with crawfish sauce.

it was on then. brother. we got a menu and realized that we had found ( after 24 years of visiting the area ) the place for us.

well this weekend we had a group of about 30 young people from our church with us and we were going on the pirate boat cruise. ( a hoot )

i told our servers dean and page, we were in a hurry and if there was any to speed us up. they camebackand told me, that ( not on their menu, just good service ) the manager would make it happen. we had fried green tomatoes as appetizers and then they bombarded us with plateful after plateful of fried fish and shrimp ( not over breaded at all, just delicious ) potatoes and squash in a sauce, and so on and so on. then came time to pay the bill. the price for all of that service, specifically designed to cater to our needs and our schedule, was no more than if we had all, ordered off the menu. it's one thing, for a group of folk's at a restaurant to give above and beyond service, but, to do that just because our day was important to them is overwhelming.

this place and these people are the real deal. you gotta do this.

bad service and problems with the food!. we first went to fishermans corner in february of this year, and had great food and service. due to this experience we decided to headbackto the restaurant because we had family from the bahamas in town in july, and wanted to share with them a great little place. not so much! first off it took our waitress over 10 minutes to even acknowledge us, and another 10 minutes to bring our drinksback(ice tea and water). we ordered appetizers and bread pudding to start off with, and these items came out about 2 minutes before our dinner was delivered. i asked about tuna or mahi mahi and also the catch of the day (it was now 6pm) all i was told is the chef had not told them what the special was for the day and we would have to wait at least another hour for him to decide. she then stated that they had no tuna, mahi mahi or baked potatoes because they were so busy that day, and according to the chef she stated there would be none the rest of the service day. additionally, the waitress never refilled our glasses, never attended to the young couple with their child behind us because she was so busy hanging out with the other staff gathered around the wine bar. when our food finally came out 1 hr and 15 minutes later, after my sister in law got a 1/4 way through her chicken parmesan she found a piece of glass or plate in her food. after getting another waitresses attention, our waitress came over took the plate and never offered to do anything (not even an apology). she brought our ticket and we still had to pay for her food even though it wasn't edible. we never saw the waitress again after she took the plate and dropped the ticket, and we are so disappointed in the service that i do not think we will ever go back.

we just left fishermans corner without being waited on. we ate here on wednesday and were impressed with the food and service. today we were promptly seated only to have a waitress take care of the table beside us. the waitress was so enthralled with the baby and carrying him around to show everyone never once looking at us. herbackwas constantly at us. we waited patiently for 22 minutes without even water offered. when we got up to leave. i walked over to the group of waitresses just hanging around and told them we were leaving because of no service. instead of apologizing. they immediately looked at each other as to which waiter was to blame. even going as far as walking to the hostess book to look who to blame. no offer of apology to us. i can't believe customer service was so bad

fried gumbo!. this was a salad worth making the drivebackfor!! busy little 'shack' down under the bridge. and i can certainly understand why people flock there!

my husband had a po-boy, 'since the bread was right' -- they get real french bread from gambino's bakery in new orleans. they might consider adding creole mustard, but the sauce provided was not bad at all.

great food! owner rude. the food was just delicious!. when we arrived, the owner asked my husband what he wanted a drink and he asked about what kind of beer they had. he told him, bottled some imports and drafts. my husband asked the names and he said i don't know, so he said water will be fine. when he brought our drinks he threw his card on the table and said.""if you have any complaints write a review! " he was very sharp with us. i thought he gave the card to everyone, but it was just us. the waitresses couldn't, have been nicer. i will gobackagain for the food, but the owner needs to let the girls do their job. he should also know his beer list as the place is pretty pricey!
