fish curry rice

best fishthaliin pune. visited on a weekend for dinner. the owner was super friendly and made excellent recommendations. i am glad we went with his suggestions since the food was really nice. flavourful and with perfect balance of flavour and spice level.

one of the bestesssst fishthalii have ever had. the food was delicious. we tried out tisrya thali. the fish was perfectly fried. prawns curry and kharwas was the highlight. would surely visit again. must visit

my 3rd visit
first we went to law college road and had an awesome experience where prawns alu wadi was complemented and the experience was great

second visit i took my mom and she has a detailed eye on how food is cooked and her verdict was "awesome" which i think justify the quality taste which is given

third visit was with brother and we ordered special fish thali, which had pomfret, surmai fry prawns curry , goan curry the wholethaliwas awesome
this was suggested by owner himself and it was a right call the whole experience was just full of taste ....!!

a beautiful wada turned into a dine in restaurant with a garden area. inside it has several rooms, on ground floor and first floor, interiors- white walls have pictures of movies, wooded doors, windows and staircase, simple furniture and a very cool ambiance. an open kitchen for all to see whats cooking inside 😉

fish curry rice is a to go place …food that screams coastal - both non veg and veg treasured by punekars for a long time since its inception. consistency, promise of good quality meat, authentic preparation in goan, karwari, konkani and more, plus good service. it has bagged several awards over the years. so it definitely needs no introduction and it is apt opening a new branch to come closer to customers at tilak road.

we stared with #stuffed_bombil_fry it is such an amazing way to start your meal…absolutely delicious
#surmai_fry : crispy and fresh .. i loved it!
#pomfret_fry : a sizeable sized pomfret ..again very delicious.
#tival : a spicy cool drink . this one had a vee bit sweetness.

with ordered for a tisrya (शिपल्या)thali and crab (खेकडा)thali. each #thali has sukat, cauliflower pickle, coconut tamarind chutney, onion lemon, two fish curry( goan and karwari), sol kadhi, chappati/bhakri and rice. it came along with crab/ tisrya thick curry/fry. the crab curry was spicy and the tisrya curry is flavourful.

every item on the plate was bliss. one can ask for unlimited siders and ask for hot chapati /bhakri /rice servers are courteous however on a busy day you need to wait your turn to be served.

dessert #kharwas … it was a perfect way to end to this meal. kharwas is sugar based, out sourced, portion is huge. it tastes is more like a kharwas custard.

fish curry rice has a well thought out menu. it plays a vital role.starters were top notch. every element in thethalihas defined taste and one can surely enjoy this lavishness if you are a born foodie.

recently visited this place which serves authentic fish with a decent ambience.
since the restaurant owners have a background from theatre and drama field they have kept the ambience with boards of various dramas in which they have contributed in some way . these drama boards have been hanged in the outdoor area which is the garden kind of area outside the restaurant .
for the indoor ambience warm lights with various frames of actors , actresses , etc all over the wall.
the restaurant has three places where the sitting is available the outer garden area , the indoor ground floor area and the first floor area.
in the fish fry we had surmai rava , surmai masala , bangda fry , bombil thecha fry and also lasuni paplet which i personally tried out for the first time.
in lasuni paplet a masala with base of lasun was stuffed in it never thought ( this was the first time i tried lasuni paplet ) it would taste so good.
all the fish variants surmai rava fry , surmai masala fry , bombil thecha fry were top notch the quality and taste is heavenly.
coming to the thalis a perfect plate , a plate of happiness i would say , the curries served with thethaliwere authentic and so delicious that one could even enjoy sip by sip.
meanwhile the owner also told us about how actually should we eat rice with curry.
so the actual way of having curries with rice is to add curry and also add same amount of solkadi in it .
this actually tasted so good .
we also tried their tila ( kokam) and solkadi which were totally authentic in taste.

want to have a glimpse of konkan, then must visit this place.

had heavenly maharashtrian malwani seafood after ages.

ambience -
its a 2 storey wada converted into this lovely restaurant. it has got:
1) outdoor seating - it is a garden area with the boards of famous marathi नाटक प्रयोग
2) ground floor - amazing fresh decor with comfortable seating for small groups.
3) 1st floor - it is huge and has got sections for large groups too.
extremely refreshing ambience, they have put photo frames of greatest marathi actors from films and theaters. it gives you the ride to rich marathi film industry.

service - i loved their hospitality and quick service. staff helps you to select dishes from their wide menu that suits your taste buds.

food -
where do i start from? because every dish that we tried, gave us a mesmerizing experience.

1) crab masala -
typical malwani preparation in red gravy. tried crabs after years. it was medium spicy and crab size large. must try.

2) bombil (bombay duck) thecha fry
what an unique preparation. thecha was stuffed in bombil and it was rava fried. therefore it was crispy from outside and bombil inside literally melted in the mouth. highly recommended

3) surmai (seer fish) masala fry
one of my favorite fish dish. surmai was huge and luscious. masala was apt and it was perfectly marinated and fried. it had lingering taste.

4) stuffed pomfret/paplet -
entire large sized pomfret stuffed with garlic and green konkani masala and was rava fry. taste was captivating and fish was fresh.

5) prawns fry -
prawns were medium size. it was rava fry and starter which vanished (ate it) in seconds as it was so scrumptious. portions could have been better.

6)thali- they have wide range of thalis with option of pomfret/surmai/bombil/bangda/prawns. go for anythaliof your choice, you wont be disappointed at all.

7) tival and solkadhi
don't forget to try these appetizers which were refreshing and captivating.

highly recommended place. one of the best and authentic seafood is served here. overall had a fabulous experience

worst fishthaliever had ... no green chutney no lemon ... pompret curry was just water without taste.... prawns curry had gravy of paneer .... pompret fry had foul smell.....
i am regular customer of fish curry rice since last 3 year when it was a sb road
now the quality has become worst please stop fooling customers

bombil thecha fry is great, must have.
chickenthaliis very good , especially dry chicken part.
solkadhi is good.
chapati , rice good.
veg subji, daal very good considering this is mainly non veg restaurant.
packing, quantity perfect. zomato delivery was also very fast.
overall 5/5 from me, keep it up.

i definitely didn't want to miss the opening offer from 16th to 19th march on their signature fish thali!!
we had two surmaithaliwhich came with a big size surmai fry, prawns curry, bangda curry, sukat chutney, cauliflower pickle, solkadi, tival , rice and 3 chapatis.
•the fish was extremely fresh & crisp.
•both the curry were prepared differently.
•the prawns size in the curry was impressive.
•i was totally in love with the tival❤..
all together a very nice experience!!
