fish curry rice

the views expressed in my post about the fish are my family's. :)

first off, it's a cosy, homelyplacein a vintage structure. it has ample seating on two floors. we sat on the ground floor, close to the kitchen.

as soon as we were seated, we were given a bowl each of tival. it was welcoming and tasty. for lunch, my family ordered prawns green fry and surmai goan curry. they were very happy with both. the prawns disappeared at a worrying speed. 😅 the surmai was very fresh and well cooked. it had a great texture. the goan curry was moderately spiced and paired well with rice. my husband does not like too much spice in his fish; he likes to enjoy its texture, so the curry suited him just fine.

in my vegetarian thali, almost all dishes were yum. please see pic for the contents. the rice bhakri was to live for. only the dal could be tastier.

solkadhi was refreshing. not too sweet, not too garlicky. just right. ✅

overall, a good place. my family will go again and so will i. :)

theplaceis a must go for crab lovers. if you love crabs you must order crab thali. also the bombil thecha fry is excellent.

ordered a surmai & a pomfret special thali.. the fish was hard & rubbery.. & the curries were bland.. we literally had to leave half of our food without eating. the manager insisted for a complementary kharvas after hearing our complaint, but i don't think that changes anything. yes, theplaceis clean & presentation is good. but our 1700rs.was for the food, & it totally got wasted !

this is a must visitplaceif you are in pune. the food is divine. every morsel is so flavourful that it feels the food should never end. इथे फक्त पोट नाही तर मन ही भरते.

a beautiful wada turned into a dine in restaurant with a garden area. inside it has several rooms, on ground floor and first floor, interiors- white walls have pictures of movies, wooded doors, windows and staircase, simple furniture and a very cool ambiance. an open kitchen for all to see whats cooking inside 😉

fish curry rice is a to goplace…food that screams coastal - both non veg and veg treasured by punekars for a long time since its inception. consistency, promise of good quality meat, authentic preparation in goan, karwari, konkani and more, plus good service. it has bagged several awards over the years. so it definitely needs no introduction and it is apt opening a new branch to come closer to customers at tilak road.

we stared with #stuffed_bombil_fry it is such an amazing way to start your meal…absolutely delicious
#surmai_fry : crispy and fresh .. i loved it!
#pomfret_fry : a sizeable sized pomfret ..again very delicious.
#tival : a spicy cool drink . this one had a vee bit sweetness.

with ordered for a tisrya (शिपल्या)thali and crab (खेकडा)thali. each #thali has sukat, cauliflower pickle, coconut tamarind chutney, onion lemon, two fish curry( goan and karwari), sol kadhi, chappati/bhakri and rice. it came along with crab/ tisrya thick curry/fry. the crab curry was spicy and the tisrya curry is flavourful.

every item on the plate was bliss. one can ask for unlimited siders and ask for hot chapati /bhakri /rice servers are courteous however on a busy day you need to wait your turn to be served.

dessert #kharwas … it was a perfect way to end to this meal. kharwas is sugar based, out sourced, portion is huge. it tastes is more like a kharwas custard.

fish curry rice has a well thought out menu. it plays a vital role.starters were top notch. every element in the thali has defined taste and one can surely enjoy this lavishness if you are a born foodie.

recently visited thisplacewhich serves authentic fish with a decent ambience.
since the restaurant owners have a background from theatre and drama field they have kept the ambience with boards of various dramas in which they have contributed in some way . these drama boards have been hanged in the outdoor area which is the garden kind of area outside the restaurant .
for the indoor ambience warm lights with various frames of actors , actresses , etc all over the wall.
the restaurant has three places where the sitting is available the outer garden area , the indoor ground floor area and the first floor area.
in the fish fry we had surmai rava , surmai masala , bangda fry , bombil thecha fry and also lasuni paplet which i personally tried out for the first time.
in lasuni paplet a masala with base of lasun was stuffed in it never thought ( this was the first time i tried lasuni paplet ) it would taste so good.
all the fish variants surmai rava fry , surmai masala fry , bombil thecha fry were top notch the quality and taste is heavenly.
coming to the thalis a perfect plate , a plate of happiness i would say , the curries served with the thali were authentic and so delicious that one could even enjoy sip by sip.
meanwhile the owner also told us about how actually should we eat rice with curry.
so the actual way of having curries with rice is to add curry and also add same amount of solkadi in it .
this actually tasted so good .
we also tried their tila ( kokam) and solkadi which were totally authentic in taste.

fish is my soul food. after a long time i found aplacewhere i my soul food was served to its perfection. i have enjoyed every bit of it . to add the experience the ambience is a cherry on the top. you will get the comfort of home while your taste palate is served with the fish cooked to its perfection. thanks to mandar joshi and bhushan desai sir who helped us select the perfect dish on the menu. i would highly recommend this place. it is worth the visit.

fish curry rice.. as simple as thisplacesounds, the flavors are immaculate. home style food with pure joy and service beyond belief. i actually had an epiphany here that sol-kadi traditionally doesn't have ginger flavor in it. highly recommend thisplacefor lunches and dinners. i had an opportunity to peep into the kitchen, thisplacehas a clean kitchen just how any of us would have at home.
also, for people who dread coming to sp college chowk, tilak road thinking parking may be an issue, guess what.. they valet!!!😎😎

me and mom visited this lovelyplacefor a lunch. we ordered pomfret and surmai thaali respectively and taste was out of the world. fish was fresh and well cooked. bombil fry thecha is something, which is highly recommended. kharvas in dessert was an icing on the cake.

classy ambience, exquisite, tasty, mouth watering food, excellent management, friendly staff.. what else do you except from a restaurant?!
thisplaceis an epitome of what we call epic !

what’s best of all that i had for dinner here?? ummm.. the bangda fry, green prawns fry and crab masala were out of the world .. the sol kadhi and tikhla .. woooow!! i am still drooling!!

best sea food restaurant in the city
fcr just opened their 3rd outlet at tilak road, pune. they took a large dining area and spread over 2 floors. indoor sitting arrangement is available with wooden tables and cushioned chairs. a large kitchen is located on the ground floor.
i placed an order for the stuffed pomfret fry(bharli paplet), which was properly stuffed from the inside and crispy from the outlet. i also had bombil thecha fry, which was stuffed with spicy green chilli thecha and very crispy outside. bombil thecha fry were served 2 in pieces. both the fried dishes mouth watering and tasty. i also had a prawn curry and rice, which were perfect and the quantity of prawns was good. finally, i had solakadhi which was the perfect full stop to my dinner.
service was very fast and the staff was very polite.
overall, if you're looking for the sea food restaurant in the city, then this is the perfectplacewhich definitely deserves a visit.
