located in hillsboro village, fido is the preeminent college coffee hangout. owned by the team at bongo java and situated in a an old pet store, fido offers quality coffee, decentfoodand a good atmosphere to hang out and work in (at least until they shut the wifi off). when i lived across the river i was a fixture at fido for brunch and during late afternoon work/study sessions. it's been a long time since i've been back for dinner since becoming and east-sider, so we headed over one night before a belcourt movie. inside, fido is clean, spacious and comfortable. lots of dark wood tones and low lighting make the room cozy, if not dark at times. since expanding, there are lots of tables available and when we went for dinner we had quite a few seating options. i will say that since this is a college hangout the demographic skews very young. something about young blonde belmont and vanderbilt students talking about biology class made me feel really old. but my favorite part of fido is th

i love fido's and so does my family. my favs-breakfast all day and the eden salad.  if eggs benedict is the daily special, i'm all over that. it does have quite the wait sometimes, but thefoodis delicious.

this is one of our favorite places in nashville. coffee and speciality coffee drinks are right on.foodis always well prepared. be sure to order local sausage with any breakfast. we appreciate their gluten-free options. it is a college town coffee shop, so it’s perfect place to get the feel of the area. i would’ve given them 5.0, but there is a $1 request for a coffee refill.

first impression:  large space with ample seating.  the place gets a bit crowded, but it adds to the quirky atmosphere. tips:   taco the tortas!  (see photos) overall experience:  b  i'm not a nashville resident, but i do enjoying visiting my friend sarra and dining at some of her favorite spots. i have visited fido twice now, once this past summer and today, and on both occasions, i thought thefoodwas great but a bit under-seasoned.  the ingredients taste fresh and the portions are just right.  i think thefoodis prepared and presented well...it's just lacking some depth or richness in flavor. i ordered pete's breakfast torta this time around, and it was definitely more delicious than what i got last time...the portobello and eggplant sandwich.  the sandwich was cold and the flavors didn't seem to meld together very well.  the torta, on the other hand, was super yummy, but i wasn't entirely sure how to eat it so i made it into tacos.  it looked more appetizing to me this way. i also tried their latte today and it was really nice.  it was light, frothy, and not too strong, so i wasn't left a jittery mess. overall, i would eat here again.  it's high-qualityfoodthat is reasonably priced.  can't go wrong with that.

awsome fun funky eatery in nashville. i am a visiting vanderbilt alumni from 25 years ago. back then we had a handful of places to choose from to eat most of which are now gone (the cooker, perkins, etc) this restaurant was one of the best breakfasts i have had anywhere in the country. a welcome surprise. it is funky , spacious and thefoodis an a - don't miss it.

goodfoodjust be careful if you want internet...they shut it down when busy.. i love that they have good vegetarian options for breakfast. it is wonderful to sit at the window and study and enjoy a good cup of coffee and a breakfast that is reasonably priced and tastes great.

overhyped and a waste of time. i walked to fido from my hotel in order to do work. had i but known i would be wasting over an hour. when i walked in there was about a 2 minute line and though it was busy, the space is huge so there were plenty of seats. i was informed after ordering that the wifi was turned off during busy times. i asked when it would be back on and was informed that it probably wouldn't be on until at least 5pm. i was incredulous, but also hungry for lunch, and after reading reviews suggestion the fish tacos, i thought i could get a quick lunch. talk about adding injury to insult. the fish tacos were, to put it mildly, gross. they were greasy, the tortillas turned to glue in my mouth, and there was more avocado than anything else which basically meant that the taco tasted like gluey avocado that squirted grease with every bite. i couldn't take more than one bite of it. i had also, sadly, ordered sweet potato fries. these arrived cold, soggy, and inedible. they were clearly cooked because raw sweet potato would at least crunch, but these simply squished grease. the coffee was average. in order to actually do my work, i had to go to the starbucks down the street (another 30 minute walk) and their pumpkin spice latte is better. it's a sad day when you can say that about a local coffee shop. i cannot understand why people think this is a good place to go. it's unfriendly to people who want to sit in a coffee shop and do work, and thefoodis just bad.

long wait for saturday lunch but good food. this was some absolute kickass good food! but don't go during peak lunch hours on a saturday. we waited a long, long time to order, then another 15 minutes to get our food. don't stand in this line just for the coffee, but thefoodis worth it. did this instead of pancake pantry. if you want a lot of food, avoid the ham sandwich. my husband got it and the slices of ham were very thin! not enough food. the steak hash (i think this is the name of it) was great -- steak, eggs, onions, etc. taters, with salsa and sour cream. coffee was good. didn't try dessert, but should have.

i still love this place though the local burger bombed for my tastebuds. i know its made with beef and lamb and maybe that's how its supposed to taste and smell but it was a bit too gamey for me. beautiful thing is the manager swapped it out for a steak hash for no charge and it rocked. 5 stars for customer service.

this place is awesome! i had the best latte i have ever had and it was too pretty to drink i loved it. and then i ordered the flank steak scramble and man the steak tasted better than rodizio's filet mignon! and the croissant was also awesome! it's vibrant, hip, made me feel young and thefoodwas just delicious. can't wait to go back to try thier lunch menu!

i’ve been to fido many times, both before and since moving to nashville, and its always been an enjoyable experience. whether for coffee and to hang out, breakfast (the juevos rancheros and most all of the breakfast items are good), or lunch (soup and sandwiches or salads), thefoodand coffee have never let me down. but, for some reason it never occurred to me to review this “bongo java production” … until tonight. we decided to give fido a try for dinner tonight, as we wanted something quick, inexpensive, close by, and moderately healthy. i’ve never eaten dinner at fido before, i’ve always seen it as strictly a coffee/breakfast/lunch type of place. i’m glad that we decided to give it a try because i just ate one of the best burgers that i’ve had in a long time, maybe since i moved to nashville. i know what you’re thinking. yes, an amazing burger. from a coffee shop. while all of the soups, sandwiches, and plates that fido serves f
