i was tagging along on my wife's work trip and i needed a break from my self-imposed bratwurst diet. we don't get good thai cuisine in our neighborhood and ee-sane's reviews convinced us to take advantage.

we avoided the standardpadthai fare. instead, we opted for what ee-sane's menu short-hands as "larb," which i think is properly called larb gai. larb gai is a meat salad (in our case, ground pork) that is flavored with shallots, limes, mint and chilis. interest is added by introducing toasted rice that is ground into a course powder, which provides a nice texture. we particularly like southeast asian food because so much of it mixes rustic meat flavors with refreshing, crunchy vegetables, and this dish (and ee-sane's execution) uses that contrasting bright/rustic to great effect.

we typically share entrees, particularly at asian restaurants, and the portion sizes were adequate for two. we ate for less than $30, having ordered more than our fair share (but skipping alcohol). i'm dinging the place slightly because it lacked ac and i'm from the south where we take that sort of thing for granted.

hadpadthai and the bf ordered some sort of stir fry dish. he immediately ordered crab ragoon and i ordered the spring rolls yay to the c.r. the spring rolls were rolled really poorly made them hard to eat. i suggested we split an entree because when had two appetizers but him being a big eater didn't want to share we ordered two. thepadthai was good not the best i've ever had(tommy's thai in denver) but pretty good. his stir fry was pretty good too we had left overs for two days! portions are huge!!!!!

fantasitic thai food is worth the wait. best thai food in milwaukee, at reasonable prices. love theirpadthai, green curry, and fresh spring rolls. on their spiciness scale (1 to 10), a 5 is quite spicy but still enjoyable. we ate there april 11, and i think they did hire an additional waitress- the service was definitely faster than usual (still not what anyone would call fast). for food this good, i don't mind waiting a little bit. someone commented that the restaurant looks messy. i've been there many times and wouldn't agree. i would say, it's clear their focus is on the food and ambiance takes a backseat, but i'm ok with that.

yum!. i love ee sane. their service is, indeed, pretty bad. but the food is so good! i have had cashew delight, padthai, curry fried rice, basil fried rice, and volcano chicken and it was all pretty much delicious. they also add extra vegetables if you as to your fried rice. it's awesome! it is also quite spicy. but good spicy. ordering to go is probably a good idea.

delicious. been there twice now. the food is fabulous. the interior...is your basic fairly plain thai restaurant. i always get the chickenpadsieu & it's delicious! try the thai tea with cream...such a unique taste experience.

good not great. we ordered spring rolls, volcano tofu (at 5), squash curry, padsie ew. spring rolls were good, nothing special. volcano tofu was spicy but not too hot - probably perfect. very good, but hard not to be if deep fried. squash curry was not spicy, but the grilled squash and coconut milk were really nice together. ordered this mild and would probably get a 3 or 4 at least next time.padsie ew was very mediocre with not enough sauce or veggies. we went at lunch and service was good.
i will probably stick to mekong cafe on north ave.

bestpadthai!. all around good thai food. i would agree the heat scale is a little off. but after reading the reviews i must be a wimp - i get a #3 and that (to me) is perfect.

bestpadthai in town. hands down the bestpadthai in town! the only thing that kind of bugs me about ee sane is that they're inconsistent with the spiciness levels. i normally get a level 7 and there have been a few times where it's felt like a level 2 but other times where it's been off the chart.

waitstaff is overworked and surly. i used to go here a lot. but the surly waitstaff was just too much to take. that, together with the gross interior, is just too much in the negative column. if you can get passed those two things, you'll like the food. i can't complain about it. love the curries and thepadthai.
