blah. i live about a 2 minute walk from this place and was happy to see a promising pizza place open on locke. it seems this promise remains unfulfilled and after four or five visits, i see no reason to go back.
i've tried the pizza a couple of times and it's truly disappointing: the crust is soggy and wet, droopy and mushy in the middle, unable to bear the weight of the toppings.
another time i ordered the chicken wings. big hairy deal, they're chicken wings and if you're going to offer them at a place like this you can do a bit better than dunking them in a bland korean-whatever sauce. might as well walk a block down the road and go to ray's boat house for better wings at a better price.
breakfast was decent enough the first time, although if you're not into porridge or sweet things, maybe i could use more options than just bacon and eggs. but the second time, the beans that came along with it were undercooked, harder than al dente, and the runny bean-water broth they had simmered in had been left to pool up in the centre of my plate - very unnappetizing. the home fries, which were fair enough the first time, were now just a few undercooked blobs of lazily seasoned spuds of varying sizes. and let me emphasize "just a few".
another thing, i guess it's hilarious that the bacon + eggs special is called the "a.b.o.e.". of course, you gotta ask what this means, which i did, only to be told by a visibly embarrassed server that it meant "anything but over easy". what a side-splitter. har har. i actually like my eggs over easy.
what i don't like are pretentious signs telling me that david suzuki doesn't like plastic water bottles, i came for a meal not a lifestyle.
please not a new pizza place opened down the road, across from the west town. from my one visit, it's much better pizza.
