earth to table bread bar

best pizza i've ever had.. i heard about thisplaceon you gotta eat here (which i'm sure a lot of people have) but i also saw them at the food & drink fest, but thought they were just a catering company or bakery.. not a fully fledged restaurant.

i ordered the meat mountain pizza today and good lord... it was the tastiest pizza i think i've ever had. the lineup was a bit too long inside to sit, so i took it to go, but it stayed hot all the way back to my office in burlington.

next time i'd love to eat in though and have one of the surprisingly good selection of beers.

i have been here numerous times and every time i have been happy with it for the most part.
atmosphere- loud, loud, loud. when it is busy ( it is busy often) it is very loud. you sit very close to your neighbours.  thisplaceis too small for the amount of people that want to be there, great for restaurant, not so good for the people forced to listen to another  tables conversation.  luckily the food makes up for the noise.
food- i have had many things here. pizzas are wonderful. any of them are good. the fries are good.especially the thyme fries. ( i don't recommend the features fries because they are overwheming with sauce- i know a lot of people like that .m i happen to be not one of them) this time i went for the novemberburger- it was one of my favourites. i liked the sweet chutney with the burger and the fried egg added so much to the meal. my daughter had the tuna melt- |she loves this meal and has had it several times. the soups and desserts are also fantastic. i couldn't eat anything for dessert this time but i have had a lot of choices there,. i especially like the cookies. i do want to mention the coffee and lattes are good in their own rite. you dont  have to finish up a meal for coffee or a good cup of tea because thisplacehas it too, ( maybe that is why it is so full al day long)
service- our waitress this day was nice and attentive. she filled our water bottle often ( i love that they have bottles on table )
impression- i will be back again and again.

nice place. fresh atmosphere and nice food. we got the hummus which was really nice. i had the avocado chicken sandwich. that was really delicious and fresh. my sister had the soup of the day which was a cauliflower soup. i didn't care for that at all. overall really niceplacewith good food.

i’ve been waiting for quite a while (almost a year) to try thisplaceout. i don’t know why it took me so long but that’s besides the point. i finally made it!. since i’ve moved to hamilton, whenever i talk to people about restaurants to try in the area, the bread bar is always one of their top suggestions. my dad wanted to come to hamilton for dinner last week and it didn’t take much convincing on my part to get him here. he checked out the menu beforehand and was just as excited as i was.

satisfied and delicious!. i'll keep it short and sweet- it's true that ingredients matter, but thisplacenot only uses exceptional ingredients but have an amazing cooking staff too! menu is great- and although their burger options are limited- there are still some vegetarian options available with other items (pizzas) on the menu.
we ended up getting the vampire slayer pizza, and definitely was worth it! calamari was also perfectly spiced with a nice sauce too. definitely a gem in hamilton :) will be going back!

disappointing breakfast. went for breakfast and the menu was rather unimaginative (i.e., the typical breakfast items that one would find at a diner). i was surprised that theplaceis called "bread bar" and bread was not featured on the breakfast menu. tried the pastry plate and did not like it: the scone was hard and not very good, the muffin was not as good as it is at tim horton's and then there was a croissant. we also ordered a fruit plate.this fruit plate had grapes in it that were not very fresh (i.e., the bottom side of each grape was brown) and then there was about half an apple, half a pear, a couple of orange slices and a couple of grapefruit slices. the service also left a lot to be desired. i will not return.

happy patron!. i visited bread bar for my birthday this past weekend. i made a reservation for 10 people at 7:30. i had been wanting to visit for some time, but was never able to get in, theplaceis always packed. so when making the reservation, i wasn't aware of just how small theplaceis. upon arriving, i told the hostess that we would only be 8, as 2 friends were felled with the flu. they proceeded to show us to our table, which was in the middle of the room, and on the small side. it was a tight fit for 7 adults and a toddler in a booster seat, i'm not entirely sure how they would have accommodated a group of 10. i will admit to being a tad disappointed at first, since it was definitely a cozy affair and table space for glasses and plates was at a premium, but that quickly wore off once our food arrived. delicious! my boyfriend and i split the cured meats before moving on to the mac & cheese and butter chicken pizza. i had a couple caesar's, also very good. spicy and briny, they were the best i've had in a long while. everyone else at the table was happy with their food as well. we all agreed that while the table was small and the room was a tad overly warm, the great food and service more than made up for it. upon asking for our bills, our server kindly told us that to make up for our small table, they wanted us to have desserts on the house. as we were moving our festivities to a friend's home, they graciously packed up 2 large boxes of treats from the pastry bar- cookies, brownies, squares, macaroons. we were all so impressed, since they had already apologized for the table, we certainly weren't expecting anything. the food had already cemented my decision that we would definitely return again, but the excellent service (and treats for the road) really made the night special. can't wait to go back!

overhyped. my lunch companion and i are at a loss as to why this restaurant is so popular. unless you ask, sandwiches are served on bland white bread, the server explained this is on purpose so the bread won't overpower the flavours of the sandwich filling. kinda funny aplacecalled the bread bar promotes white bread. also had the winter salad which was supposed to have roasted winter vegetables...but there must have been a special on beets because that, with the exception of a roasted garlic clove was the only vegetable in the salad. my friend had roasted garlic pizza with arugula ... just large cloves of garlic tossed on a pizza crust that was soggy. coffee also was lukewarm, seating is tight and it is one of the loudest restaurants i have ever been in..acoustics are horrible. server was friendly. we won't be back and can not recommend it.

did not like it...was very disappointing!! after seeing this restaurant on the show "gotta eat here" theplaceseemed promising so we had to give it a try. had the popeye pizza and it was tasteless. ..ricotta cheese has no flavour!! don't waste your money!!! service was good.

the food was delicious, the atmosphere was wonderful and all the staff were very friendly. thisplaceis busy so reserve a table if you can. i will definitely be going back again and again!!!

thisplaceis amazing for a wide selection of tasty casual local food, with upscale twists and of course the vast array of sweet treats and coffees for visit with friends. the addition of the alcoholic beverages will make this an excellentplacefor a nice dinner out that's not too fussy, but super delicious. i've never made it here for breakfast on the weekend but am excited to try it out soon. thisplaceis a staple in hamilton now and hopefully forever!

big prices for tiny portions. $13 for about a cup-and-a-half of mac and cheese? even locally sourced ingredients would have made the cost for this dish $3 or less. $17 for chicken souvlaki, which included one skewer of chicken. the only portions that weren't tiny were the dips included with the $7 "bread and 3 dips" appetizer. sadly, that only came with three slices of bread (cut in half to try to make you think there were six). that's right. aplacecalling itself a "bread bar" gives you more dip than bread.

needless to say, there is no way i will be returning to this place.

good ingredients don't matter. i went to the bread bar with some friends in the mood for dessert. i ordered "seasonal" pie. i was excited for rhubarb or strawberry but it turned out that "seasonal" in late june meant apple/blueberry. when the pie came, i could tell from the taste that they didn't use butter in the pastry - butter gives a nice taste but is more expensive than other fats. as a vegetarian, i was worried they might have used lard, so i asked the server what was used in the pastry. she asked the kitchen, and it turns out they use shortening in their crust. cheap, hydrogenated, non-organic shortening... that stuff makes me feel sick, and i would never have ordered the pie if i had known. i guess when aplacehas a big sign on their wall, "good ingredients matter", maybe you shouldn't trust them.

o.k. - some good, some bad. theplaceis cool and the concept is different from most places in hamilton. i have had good food and other times it was mediocre and/or poor. i think it's more of a funkyplaceto hang out than to enjoy a good meal. i personally think it's overpriced for what you get and the service isn't great either. i will probably go back just because hamilton doesn't really have anywhere else to go like this.
