dub's a public house

lovely place!. dub's is a hidden gem on river street! both my husband and i loved the atmosphere and more importantly, the food! dub's was the first place we ate upon coming into town this past sunday and our waitress was so helpful in providing suggestions of where we should eat and places to see during the rest of our visit. our favorite of her suggestions was zunzi's! i can't disagree more with the reviews below about the service.

if you find yourself at dub's, try the tacos! my husband absolutely died for the burger with their house beer cheese. can't wait to come back to savannah and eat at dub's! oh, the wings were amazing to! perfectly cooked. i really regret not trying the cupcake...

biggest surprise in savannah? in many respects, it might been dub's pub, also called dubs, a public house. it was near where we were staying, easy to access via stairs and an alleyway. they are advertised on urban spoon as a gastropub, though it was hard to tell when we went. they were down to only tacos when i arrived. their beer selections are good, however, and they sell beer flights. a flight is 5 different selections of beer, 4 ounces each, all for a reasonable price. i had never had tybee blonde before, and sandwiching that between a bells and a allagash wasn't so bad at all.

great food! burgers are great!!! bartender's and drinks are wonderful!

basically if you read this, go to the establishment anyways, have an issue, and are faced with the delema of "should i say something?!?".... then you've done this to yourself. this place doesn't care about it's patrons. if you have a great experience then great! but don't expect any sympathy or recovery from them if and when they drop the ball... onward...

there was a screw sticking straight out of the chair my mother went to sit in. luckily it didn't cut her but it tore her new pants. in further inspection other chairs had the same screw sticking out of the "bum spot" of the chair. we asked to speak to the manager and he was awefully rude. he said the chair manufacturer was at fault not himself or the company he represents. when we told him we were not happy with that response he yelled at us claiming we were trying to blackmail him and this and that as he stormed into the kitchen cussing. he did absolutely nothing to compensate for the pants and did not even apologize. i'm glad my mom didn't get cut on the screw but it was obviously sharp enough to cut her. just a warning if you go there. check your seat before you sit down so you do not hurt yourself. in my case, i will not be back. there are plenty of great hospitable places to go in this area and all we got out of our experience here was a ruined pair of pants and an attitude from the manager rob. rob, learn to recover from moments like this. you were in the wrong. you should have shown some sympathy and tried to make a bad situation into a good one. things happen. but being a jerk helps nothing except your failing ego.

great food! must try the jalapeño beer cheese and pretzels! one of my fav foods in savannah. has a great laid back atmosphere. you're on river street but you aren't in all the craziness.
service is kinda sporadic. servers are always nice though!
edit my husband and i have been sitting waiting for the check for well over 15 minutes. my husband finally peaked into the bar and saw our waitress and the bartender leaning over the bar talking and laughing. then we heard someone scream and it was our waitress continuing to flirt with the bartender in the next to us. it's a shame. this place has amazing food but the service is so off. we ended up waiting for a full 15 minutes for her to come back. all i can say is i hope bartender jordan gets his girl.

i think that the food at this place is underrated because a lot of people wander in after drinking too much on river street to appreciate it. their hummus plate is tasty as are their shrimp and grits.

horrible service! waited 20+ minutes for silverware or refills and 45 minutes for a beer. - unapologetic staff isn't banking on repeat customers.... - avoid this place!

late, bad, and expensive. terrible... i ordered four take out dinners and had a beer while i was waiting. waited almost one hour for the food (guess they thought i would order more beers). kept asking why it was taking so long as it wasn't really that busy. after 45 minutes i finally grabbed the manager and started a screaming match with that idiot. i had already paid for the bill otherwise i would have left long ago. food finally came and i just grabbed it and left. when i got back to the hotel i discovered they totally messed up the order. we ate it, but it was really bad. horrible experience. stay away from that place

never got served. over 10 minutes at the bar and was never acknowledged. seated at a table, ordered, waited another 5 minutes listening to a rowdy foul mouthed and loud group of football fans, still did not have a drink. no management interaction with the asshats behind us, no drinks = we left. not sure they even noticed.

racist establishment!. i went to this restaurant for my new years celebration and had a terrible experience. every time i walked by a certain group of people, they would snort like pigs at me. there was a group of three guys who i assumed worked there because they were all wearing identical shirts and when they would walk by they would act like monkeys and do other very distasteful things. all in all i would never recommend this establishment to anyone who hopes to go anywhere and be treated with respect.

decent for beer and chicken fingers. we dropped by on a sunday afternoon for some beer and a snack. buckets of beer are priced as you would expect for a river street location. we split an order of chicken fingers and fries. the chicken fingers were good enough, but i would have probably cooked them a tad bit longer for my taste. we did like their hand-cut fries.

the atmosphere is casual and relaxing. our waitress was prompt and attentive. it was not that loud even with tvs playing sports. all the other patrons seemed to be enjoying their meals and drinks. dubs is on the far end of river street so might not be noticed by many tourists.

non falcon fans horrible service to include both general manager and manager on staff. were do i start. we went to dubs to enjoy food and spirits along with watching the bears game. we were asked to move locations from one bar room to the next because the speakers were playing cow boy game. after 2 quarter's and half time our server finally came to check us. we asked to speak to manager and he argued that the speakers were playing the bears game. when he realized he was wrong he apologized and walked away. needless to say. .. serviced sucked! !!
