not worth the hype!. this place was too dark and borderline creepy. the service was okay, but the food was terrible! our food was clearly heated in the microwave, it didn't taste fresh. and worst of all, they overmicrowaved the food! the refried beans were so burnt, they were hard. they comped one plate (i suffered through mine-btw, the cashier and server did not seem surprised or apologetic that the food came out in this condition). i ordered some kind of "popular", yet forgettable, steak dish. the steak was dry, my rice was dry, but my refried beans were not as badly overheated as my lunchmate (the food lacked the usual flavorful profile i expect from mexican cuisine). overall, this place was a horribly dissapointing experience. the lunchpricewas a bit high, but if the food had been good, thepricemight not have stood out as much. also, i could have sworn a spider fell from the ceiling-eek! maybe this was a really bad day, but i am not intrigued enough to give them a second glance or chance.

no longer awesome. this place used to be great - if you'll notice, most of the glowing reviews are from 2+ years ago, while most of the negative reviews are from within the last year. there is a reason for that. the portions have diminished significantly while thepricehas either stayed the same or (in some cases) increased. go elsewhere.

pretty amazed!. i found this place on urbanspoon and so we headed off. driving up there was a crowd of people and a wait on a friday night so that was a good sign. when i went in to check with the reception, they gave me a baseball. i looked at it like ok what the heck am i going to do with this now? they told me i was a party of four baseballs! fun. looking around at first was sort of eclectic but then once i had become a baseball i realized just how much fun this place was going to be. we were a party of four and got a pitcher of top shelf margaritas. pretty much watched a bottle of patron silver disappear before our eyes with a bottle of cointreu. so we were not a bit daunted when they said $65 dollars. doing the math i was happy to figure out how nice apricethat actually was.
we parked ourselves on a crowded bench to wait laughing when we heard mr. obama and the dead chicken your table is ready. a man soon appeared with a colorful stool for me to put the pitcher on and a few of our drinks. my love then let me rub her foot while we waited. the owner took note. more names were called and within 15 minutes a "special" table was ready. we were given "the lovers bench". we ordered queso dip and many other things. i had a chicken special "pollo tamarindo" that was wrapped in bacon and served with a nice sweet tangy sauce along with perfectly marinated eggplant and roasted sweet potatoes. our less adventurous had a chicken burrito of which she declared was the best she had ever had and the other who doesn't like black beans consumed an enchilada piuebla filled with them. my love had the garnachas that's a very authentic centeral american dish. it was made with sweet potato as a base and then topped with various layers of morsels, that just might make me go back again tonight to have them again this time getting the lover's bench with just my lady! of course we all left extremely stuffed. our final bill was only $69 for four of use and was worth every peso, err cent. funny i used peso since i really did feel like i was in mexico, which i have never felt that way since i was in mexico when dining out. now i really understand the high rating it has received!
