authentic and delicious. as chilly as it was the day we went for lunch most tables outside were full and withgoodreason ..

the kitchen kindly made a spaghetti olio which was delicious. generous serve.
cold bowl was a shame as pasta did get cold quite quickly which was a shame and the 1 little piece of bread was hard not crusty which was a shame as wanted to mop of the oil & chilli.

friendly staff who were helpful especially as my dining partner got his pasta (and eaten) before my arrived as apparently the italian speaking kitchen was unable to discern the difference between 'olio- daily special' but all good....

take extra $$ to take home from the deli which is replete with mouth watering cholesterol ridden salamis, hams and cheeses...not cheap but worth the money.

we had a quick breakfast at doc delicatessen on lygon. we have an avocado bruschetta and a tomato cheese piadina nicely toasted. lovely sitting outside and the masses of lycra wearing cyclists had just left which gave us plenty of room. service wise a little clunky with coffee order being wrong and having to be reordered. this was most likely due to our waiting staff members basic english skills and difficulty speaking and comprehend australian english. while accented staff add a little to the authenticity of these venues i have found this can be at the expense ofgoodservice and that was the case at doc this morning.

i purchased some italian pork sausages from their deli & they were notgoodat all. the sausages had a very strange flavour & odour, which comes from boar taint. the smell & taste was so offensive that it smelled like urine, which means they use low quality pork in their sausages. they were also quite bland & did not have that distinguishable italian taste. we fed the sausages to our dog, they just could not be enjoyed because of the boar taint.

absolutely love this deli in particular the number 11 sandwich. food here is always fresh, tasty and of high quality. the service is alwaysgoodand fast and it’s great priced

doc delocatessen sits next to what used to be carlton espresso. the place is perfect for lygon street, with plenty of italian foods, drinks and of course coffee. the coffee is decent, though obviously very espresso focused. food is on the expensive and small portion side. i've never thought it's really worth the price here in terms of quality, service or atmosphere to dine. seriously, the waiters are not very professional orgoodat what they do so it's lucky that the chefs & baristas know how to do what they do well. what i do like here is to have a glass of wine or campari / aperol spritz and people watch with friends. you can also pickup lots of italian deli goods to take home or give as gifts. the deli looks quite nice.

don't you hate it when a lecturer is so boring and it makes the most interesting content unbearable? i used to hate wednesdays because of this, since i picked out the subject based on the false belief that the content would be super intriguing, i mean okay, the readings are pretty dry and that's not the lecturer's fault, but agoodlecturer really makes all the difference. so glad i switched out of that subject. but anyway, this long rant introduction does have a purpose - a few weeks ago, after a bad wednesday, i was lucky enough to be invited to another zomato meetup at d.o.c delicatessen, and the food wasgoodenough to turn my day around!

this place is a great example of quality people and business, fit out and clever marketing. it's location also wins it extra votes but it's not the cheapest or the best delicatessen going around, that being said its a complete store in what it's aiming to do and achieve.


people travel far and wide to come here in the belief they are getting the best, and depending where they come from, may have passed many other businesses just asgoodon the way. but you can have an awesome authentic italian meal next door, and that's a winner in itself. agoodday out, and it's very sexy. style 4.5, quality and price 3.5, it's a 4 for me.

unbelievablygoodminestrone. service was great, location lovely but the main highlight was the food. its the best version ive had of one of my favourite dishes. comes with a generous helping of fresh homemade pesto and parmesan on top, and side of bread. needless to say, i will definitely be returning and highly recommend this place.

very italian. went here later at night to buy cheese for cooking and found the staff to be lovely, though i spoke to them in italian so perhaps that's a contributing factor. i'll definitely come back the produce is suchgoodquality!
