dish has a nice, down home feel with very solid southern food. my girlfriend and i shared themeatloafsliders appetizer and the chicken and dumplings dish with a side of mashed sweet potatoes.
themeatloafsliders were very good. the best part of the meal by far was the cajun spice on the meatloaf; if i come back to dish, i will probably order themeatloafas my entree because it was excellent. the slider buns were a little dry and took away from the greatmeatloafjust slightly, but overall the sliders were still very good.
the chicken and dumplings were just okay in my opinion and my girlfriend's. a lot of people have raved about them being amazing, but they were definitely not life changing. the chicken was very tender and the dumplings were as well, but as a whole it wasn't extremely flavorful or memorable in any way. the mashed sweet potatoes on the side were amazing, however. nice and sweet but not too much so, and they had a little cinnamon taste that balanced it all perfectly. the biscuit was a little dry, and the deviled egg was pretty good.
overall, the food was good but not great with some things better than others. the service was solid as well, and the prices are pretty cheap, especially for the amount of food you get.

hmmm.... saw this place on the food network, and went to check it out. i had themeatloafand mashed potatoes, which came recommended by the waitress. themeatloafitself was ok. it didnt blow me away, but it did it's job as a comfort food. the potatoes were a little dissapointing. they were kind of thin (not quite runny) and they threw some skins in there for texture. however, themeatloafand potatoes were topped with an amazing gravy. i wish they would have brought a bowl of that stuff to dip every bite in. i also got green beans as a side, which were average. i paid about $11 for the plate and drink, which was a little more than i would normally pay for a weekday lunch. overall, i would give them a 6 out of 10. pretty good, but not great.

dish is a very eclectic place but when it comes to the food it's a nice balance of your down home comfort with a little twist of modern. our favorites are the classicmeatloafbut spiced up a little, the chicken and dumplings are simple but amazing, and what's not to love about every meal coming with a deviled egg and a nice buttery biscuit?!

zuchinni bisque and mashed colliflower. excellent bisque texture with small and larger chunks of.zuchinni; the perfect amount of salt to hold flavours of vegetable and cream together. mashed calliflower is just that, with pepper to taste and served warm.
key lime pie with homemade whipped cream. good and tangy, not too tangy that it leaves a sandpapery, dry feel but still tangy and sweet. it's very balanced. creamy in color and crust holds together well. topped with homemade whipped cream. subtly sweet, soft & wet but not runny. whipped enough to hold a loose shape and delectible on the tongue.

-spice hits immediately but isnt a peppery spice. a lingering spice that doesnt build quickly but stays even throughout. has a spicy sweet ketchup.meatloafis hearty but not super filling as it is a slider. toped with american cheese and lettuce with pickle on top. i had a creamy mac & cheese.
superb service and this time i sat at the bar and bartender was engaging, laid back but very knowledgeble!

i love the meatloaf!!!!!. had the cajun spicedmeatloafwith mashed potatoes. great flavour, and home made mashed potatoes. my daughter had the chicken and dumplings, smothered in a fantastic gravy. my wife ate the salmon cakes, which were a nice twist to the traditional fish cake and was served with collard greens. the hamburger my son ate was also delicious. the one item that blew me away were the biscuits. my aunts make delicious biscuits, but these were the best buscuits i have had in a long time. i would love to be able to go back to dish soon.

comfort food at it's best. dish comes thru every time! my husband loves the chicken and dumplings and i loves the chicken fried steak! there is something for everyone to a veggie plate, fish of the day, to the traditional items on the menu asmeatloafand mac and cheese. i love the fact that every dish comes with a deviled egg! welcome to the south! i would recommend everyone needs to try dish at least once. it won't disappoint!

local recommendation = great lunch. while visiting charlotte we stopped by dish on a local recommendation and had a great lunch. the potato cakes were amazing; i could have made a meal on those alone. the cajunmeatloafwas really good, i expected it to have a little more kick than it had, but it was the perfect amount. the atmosphere was exactly what we were looking for, local and relaxed. definitely worth checking out if you are in charlotte.

mmmm!. soo yummy! friendly waitstaff, comfortable environment, plenty of seating, very little wait, for both food and tables. the menu selection is quite different than most restaurants, everything looks so delectable! i ordered the meatloaf, and the only thing better than thatmeatloafwould be having meatloaf, the singer hold me in his arms. my husband wouldn't like that as much as the leftovermeatloafi brought home to him. some of the best grits in town! i want some more right now. im also going to watch somemeatloafmusic videos on youtube. mmmm ;)
