specialising in north, central and south indian dishes delhi 'o' delhi is a cut above the regular. a hatted restaurant with a greater emphasis on presentation, it's cuisine, unlike the many curry houses that tone down the flavours for australian palates, is unapologetically authentic. we found the dal makhani, a slow-cooked black lentil stew with ginger, and the kozi pudina, free-rangechickenstew, cooked with mint and lemongrass, were excellent, tasty dishes. the chutney beef, braised with mint, chillies and ginger, was one of the hottest dishes i've had in a long time. the menu describes it as 'not for the faint-hearted' and they weren't kidding. it really took a lot of yoghurt and a few parathas to finish it.

not very impressed. have meant to try this place for ages and finally got around to it, due to many positive reviews. i found, personally, the flavour and spice was lacking. i thought it was going to be pumped up authentic indian cuisine but it was sort-of-pimped up (and really expensive) westernised indian-ish food. butterchickenwas the standout (ok only), and the rest was “meh”. worst peshwari naan i’ve ever had - virtually no filling. oh, and they didn’t deliver the mango lassi i ordered and paid for. never again.

went here with a mate and had the butter chicken, goat and camel curries as well as the tandoori sharing plate(non vegetarian) plus rice, garic naan and pappadums and whilst it cost about 150 we enjoyed all dishes but the camel curry. it was our first time trying camel so i guess we didnt know what to expect. the butterchickenmade it all worth while. def recommend a visit

great indian restaurant located in the hearts of newtown, the place is small but don't judge by its size. the server was nice, bassist us with the menu and recommend the popular dishes. thechickenpepper was the best dishes, it has an complex insane of flavour that goes well with the naan. (to be continued)

busy cosy corner indian a short walk from newtown station. place was packed - a good sign. we sat outside since it wasn’t too cold and we’re glad we did as inside is very crowded and a tad stuffy.

service is fine, efficient.

menu is fairly standard traditional indian. has all the classics.

we had the palak paneer andchickentikka masala with some rice and naans. everything was nice, fresh and good flavors. food came out pretty quickly.

overall a good place if you are looking for classic indian done well.

casual elegance and refined service were the hallmarks of our meal at delhi 'o' delhi. complimentary papadums were followed by superb naan bread, and the butterchickenwas rich and fragrant, i only wish that there was more of it!

good indian restaurants are surprisingly hard to find but i’m glad i found this one.

the staff are attentive but not obtrusive and the service overall was always faultless.

the food was soooo good. i normally steer clear of butterchickenbut thought this one sounded worth a shot and i’m glad i gave it a chance because it was the best i’ve ever had by a very very long way. the way they grill thechickenfirst gives it a really nice charred, smoky flavour that you don’t usually get.

the korma was really good, the lamb was tender and there was not fatty or chewy bits, just nice, soft meat but it was a little on the mild side of mild. i was hoping for a little more kick but it was by no means bad.

thechickenentree was one of the most delicious things i’ve ever eaten too.

the naan was light and fluffy and soft and a decent size too.

only downside i would say is that while they are byo, they charge $8 per person corkage which does seem a little steep. i’m happy to pay for corkage and like to bring my own wine because i get a better choice of wines and it’s not about saving money but this does seem a little excessive.

entrees were nice. we had the chick pea and potato entree which was surprisingly served cold. also had the samoas which were fresh and delicious with just enough heat. mains we orderedchickentikka and husband ordered the beef chutney dish. now the description was in red. the only dish on the menu written in red. maybe a warning before ordering it about its spice level?.
hubbie and i like it spicy, very spicy but this here was spicy inedible. it was insane. i don't eat beef but tried half a tablespoon of sauce on some cheese nan and omg!!! my mouth was on fire. that type of fire that lingers and ruins anything else. i thought about walking it out with my tounge out but people would probably think i was mad. hubbie was dripping in sweat. he ate a whole mouthful of meat and sauce. we ordered some side yoghurt but that couldn't even mask the heat. honestly hottest dish i have tried ever and inedible. we left it. shame cause flavours were nice.
we ordered the eggplant and prawn curry as well as hubbie was still hungry. this was nice with prawns cooked well.
breads and rice were delicious. service was attentive tonight. definitely a memorable experience but for the hottest dish in the world over the deliciousness of the food.

i had a craving for authentic indian food this evening but i was disappointed with those at delhi 'o' delhi.

i asked for spicier servings of currychickenand chukandari chicken. i would say that the indian food at the restaurant were adapted to the australian taste and were mild and less authentic. for a price of $27, i would expect more curry too.

we came on the new years eve 2016. they had a set menu. food was mild spiced but very tasty. we loved the fish and thechicken. staff were super nice. very authentic india food made mellowed to serve the australian tastebud. lack of cream in the food makes it much tastier and they know what they are doing. definitely recommend this

tried this interesting indian 'street food' called khasta kachori. a crispy shell filled with chickpeas and potatoes. a little bit too saucy for my liking but it was very tasty. the naan was on point and the curry was out of this world! hands down the best butterchickenever! ✌ @foodiesguidetosydney

we went for a work gathering and were greeted by friendly staff. we were waited on by hand and foot! so we didn't have to wait long to get a waiters attention. we had ordered a various amount of dishes - and they all were at a very high standard! but the few dishes that everyone was talking about the next day was the garlic cheese naan, beef vindaloo, butterchickenand the prawn entree - we would definitely be back!

we've ordered the grilled paneer as a starter, the butterchickencurry, the lamb curry with 2 garlic & cheese nans. food was good but i did not find it that tasteful except the nans which were delicious. it's a pity because the service is wonderful, all of the waiters were really kind and considerate.

amazing indian food served with a smile. the kachori was delicate and tasty while the classic butterchickenwas one of the best i've ever had.

the only reason i'm not giving this place a rating of 5 is bc of the lengthy wait for our mains (25-30 mins). however, it was a particularly busy night and the staff were apologetic.

would recommend this place to anyone who enjoys quality indian cuisine.
