every time when you visit pondicherry , there is always some new restaurant , new cuisine or new concept to try out. here , many old bungalows have been converted in to beautiful restaurants and coromandal cafe is one of them . there are small , open air garden space tables available but as the gap between them was very limited so we opted for indoors , corner table to chat freely . ambience is very nice , clean and calm place , service is little slow so if you have enough time to relax and enjoy your meal then definitely book a table in advance and must try this place. prior bookings are must as even on wednesday it was full so you can imagine the crowds on weekends . however i didn't like their fried dishes like crispy prawns and fish n chips as they were very oily and greasy but their italian food is just awesome. not only their bruschetta bread is different but their toppings are equally unique . like we ordered bengali mango chutney and cheese bruschetta , as the name suggest the indian sweet and sour chutney with cheese .... a great combination . next we ordered organic roasted chicken with chicken risotto . roasted chicken was good , as i'm not pakka non-vegetarian , my taste buds are limited to indian types of marination only , so not their fault . but the chicken risotto was yummmm 😋 , the sauce was very very nice , i have never tasted this kind of risotto before . in fact i have tried mushroom n cheese risotto at 2-3 restaurants and i always hated its bland taste as it is tasteless patient food . for vegetarian dish we ordered grilled vegetables with grilled halloumi cheese , greens and black hummus . however i got only two pieces of grilled paneer rather than halloumi cheese but i forgot to notice that because we were very busy exploring the black hummus . i have heard it for first time and tasted for first time only - it was very tasty , nutty and smooth . frompizzasection we ordered pondicherry vegpizzawith paneer and sun dried tomato toppings - was really good . exceptional was their pink pasta - i thought pink pasta means pasta in white and red sauce which we normally call as pink sauce . but it was fresh home made beetroot pasta in white sauce and herbs - very soft pasta with sweetness of beetroot was complimented with little pungent flavour of red onions . overall it was a great evening well spent at very neat and clean , calm place with excellent and unique dishes . this is the place where i would like to again and again whenever i visit pondicherry 😊 .
