"experience of injustice- refused service by same rude male staff member"
the same male staff member, see prior review below, told me he wouldn't serve me again, when i last visited on monday night, the 8th of february. also, the same guy does not regularly clean the tables and does not bring customers cutlery when they order something to eat. that's bad customer service too! this lack of service was unjustified and inappropriate as there was no reason at all for him to deny me service upon my next visit. this denial of service is not based on anything, rather on a prejudiced non-professional personal opinion. it is not based on facts or evidence.

rude male staff member & management unresponsive towards complaints: 1. guy was very rude to me at the customer counter, sun 24th of may. i entered the cafe at approximately 8pm, and the guy took my order and when i asked him to wipe my table, saying 'can you wipe mytableplease- he replied 'you need to talk nicer'. excuse-me, but i said 'can you wipe mytableplease'. that was polite, calm and reasonable. he also talked back to me, saying it's already clean. however, when i looked at it, it looked dirty. i then walked out because he did not want to wipe the table. that was a reasonable request and in this climate of covid-19, i would expect mytableto be wiped. after all, i asked him nicely and politely, saying 'can you wipe mytableplease', and as soon as i said that, he angrily and unprofessionally replied, ' you need to talk nicer'. that shows his reluctance to be polite to customers, inability to comply with social distancing and health regulations. why can't the guy just wipe my table, after all, it is a reasonable request and is simply enough to oblige without objecting and being rude. 2. when i complained to management, they refused to take any accountability saying i was mistaken and talking about a different cafe and telling me not to write reviews: 'we wipe our tables and chairs after each and every customer.you must be talking about another cafe! please do not write reviews without ensuring you are on the correct cafe site" (response from management)

good service and place if you're white/caucasian. if you're not, good luck. i've been here twice and on both occasions, the guy behind the counter (not the owner) was extremely disinterested in serving me or advising me. on the flipside, the dude was very friendly, helpful and even gavetableservice to the people he felt were worth it. i observed this multiple times while i was having my meal.

absolute shocking. while the food was respectable (if ordinary) the service bordered on offensive. upon arrival i waited at the entry as most tables were littered with dirty plates and food scraps. i was going to leave but grabbed a menu out of interest. i asked a member of staff if i could order some breakfast. "to take away?" she asked. i told her i was wanting to dine in. she caustically told me (with a kind of cold hard stare) that i should sit at atableso she could take my order. the exchange continued in this vein as i ordered some food. rude, uncaring and so obviously chemically altered from the night before. i should have left then, but was hungry and had little time. i urge anyone considering this 'cafe' to go elsewhere. this level service is completely inexcusable.

late weekend arvo, a pit stop between appointments and a place to rest the feet.  the coffee turned out so good, it was the right choice to stop. not as packed on breakfast and brunch mornings but service was efficient. corner location is great, with a side road and outsidetableseating as well.

avoid. it's difficult to say what i hated most about this place. purely because i am overwhelmed by a selection of reasons why and i don't think i can rank them. was it when the waitress brought our drinks and one was overflowing, spilling down the sides and onto thetablewhen she placed it? or when we had to request a napkin rather than the waitress making one available? or how about when the waitress sprinted away before we could even finish a sentence when ordering? perhaps there was an emergency inside, either that or the concept of remembering two simple orders was so startling for her that she had to run to the closest available paper and pen. granted our meals did come within a reasonable time frame, but it was a short lived silver lining, the hot cakes were, in reality slightly cooked starch with a heavy aftertaste. they also looked like the yoghurt and berry compote had melted on the 5m journey to our table. the eggs could only have been microwaved and would explain why our meals were so quick to arrive. i guess a frying pan is a little too 2014 for these guys. luckily though, we knew some water could possibly save our taste buds from annihilation, so we went inside to see if they had self serve. they didn't. so we waited 3 minutes in the empty interior to be assisted and asked for some. first, they forgot. second, they ducked a head outside to see us and thus jog their memory about the simple task we asked of them. third, out came the water but alas with all the empty tables and only two customers (us) outside they were confused as to whichtableneeded the water. so they wandered for a moment before common sense kicked in. then we reluctantly paid and left, avoid is all we can say.

i read a few reviews to see if i'm being a little harsh but i don't feel so bad now. i live 10 minutes down the road and pass it everyday on my way home. i've only ever been here for coffee (which is average) but this place for whatever reason always attracts a crowd and i can't understand why. i haven't eaten here as every time i walk past i look at what the dishes look like sitting in front of the diners outside i am turned off. the food in my option is below average and with so many better choices it baffles me that people continue to dine here. maybe that's a good thing, if everyone keeps going to corellis that means there will always be atablewaiting for me at my fave cafe.

amazing. well it was valentine's day and after walking the streets for over half an hour and been told by a few places sorry we are full. this nice little cafe with great opening hours had atableinside out of the terrible weather it was.

although it seemed a little disorganised the food was amazing value, the service was friendly, not much professionalism about it but chilled which is the kind of dining i like to experience. i was greatly impressed by the service when another group came in after us they went out the back to pull out more tables and chairs to put outside instead of saying we are full.

slow service on a slow day. while the food is passable the service is slow. friendly, well meaning but vague wait staff seen to have no comprehension of turning tables over or getting coffee and meals delivered promptly with any sense of urgency. food arrives without cutlery, served with an 'oops' .. only to watch anothertablebe served food by the same waitress, before bothering to provide the necessary eating utensils. coffee was mediocre and food was overcooked yet cold. there are other options nearby who serve better food and more quickly. if you don't have taste buds or have plenty of time to waste, then corellis is the place for you.

not worth the wait.. i went in there a few days ago at 8:40 in the morning. it wasn't busy at all - maybe 4 people having coffees. realising that this was a good time to be getting a quick breakfast, i ordered the eggs benedict and sat back and waited. and waited. at 9:00 i asked the waiter who took my order if my eggs bene was coming any time soon. at that very moment, i could hear the sizzle of something being put on the grill. she said that they had just started.
why it took so long (bear in mind it was not busy) was not explained, nor was there any acknowledgement of the length of time it was taking.

life is too short - i walked out, down the road and around the corner to another cafe. they had my eggs in front of me within 5 minutes, and they were a lot busier. i wonder why...
the previous time i was there, the staff would simply sling the drinks on the part of thetableclosest to them without even trying to give the coffee to the right person. slack.

on another note - newtown bohemia doesn't exist any more as the place is increasingly gentrified. any review talking about people watching and inked and tattooed people is 10 years out of date.

we have walked past this cafe every time we go to the supermarket or gym in newtown and it's always very busy. curious, we decided to give them a go, and even at 7pm, the tables both indoors and outside were nearly filled. we found ourselves atableindoors in this bohemian-looking cafe and scanned the menu as well as specials' board to decide on our order. jono went for their barramundi salad with mango salsa while i ordered the sirloin steak with mash and peppercorn sauce.

food and ambience were ok. good value for money but otherwise basic cafe fare. staff were very rude. ignored us upon entry when we clearly didn't know whether to sit or order at the counter. failed to mention that their juices were unavailable until we tried to order one - we also overheard thetablenext to us rebuffed twice when trying to order something. we were treated as if it was a privilege to receive their service. i ordered a 'long mac' and was given a long black, which wasn't a problem because the misunderstanding has happened to me before. was brought out another long black and when i pointed out that i had ordered a long macchiato, the waitress rolled her eyes and tool the coffee back to the barista, who made no attempt to hide her frustration. when they finally brought out my coffee, it was overextracted and very burnt, not to mention impossible to drink because it was so hot. i dont expect staff to be totally impassive but a few manners go a long way, and i don't appreciate being treated like i am the idiot making the mistake. i know what it's like to work in hospitality, and the staff here have it very wrong - change of attitude please!
