good service andplaceif you're white/caucasian. if you're not, good luck. i've been here twice and on both occasions, the guy behind the counter (not the owner) was extremely disinterested in serving me or advising me. on the flipside, the dude was very friendly, helpful and even gave table service to the people he felt were worth it. i observed this multiple times while i was having my meal.

this is the first time i have ever written a review of aplaceor felt compelled to leave a complaint. i have never experienced such horrendous customer service as i did at this cafe (saturday 21st november 2015). the staff that took my order and brought out my food were friendly, but when it came time to pay for my meal, the man taking my payment was incredibly rude when he got frustrated by my wanting to pay for my friends meal and my meal separately. it wasn't a big order and very simple to do but as he was taking the payments he was shaking his head and i told him that isn't good customer service and there was no need for him to shake his head and then he got visibly angry so i told him to calm down to which he responded that i was the one who needed to calm down and that i was scaring him. i just stood there dumbfounded. as i left the cafe he shook his head again at me. this was more than someone having a bad day at work which i can understand, this man was arrogant and rude and clearly has no customer service skills or respect for his workplace.

corelli's rules. it's our favourite cafe. my housemates and i went there literally every morning for at least a year, and we still frequent it quite often. 
there's no friendly bullshit here - the staff are normal human beings that don't flash around fake smiles to everyone and are a bit on the cynical side. 
obviously, don't order any food because it doesn't look great (and the kitchen looks dodgy) - although the nachos look all right and the crumble is actually really good -they serve it to you heated up and with this big dollop of triple cream. 
the coffee is burnt half the time, but they give you tiny teddy's with with it and they're open until midnight. 
thisplaceis not about the food or the coffee though. it's a newtown staple. 
overall, corelli's is the pinnacle of freedom.

late weekend arvo, a pit stop between appointments and aplaceto rest the feet.  the coffee turned out so good, it was the right choice to stop. not as packed on breakfast and brunch mornings but service was efficient. corner location is great, with a side road and outside table seating as well.

appalling service. i walked in and sat at one of the tables. the waitress did come to take my order promptly. she even asked me if i wanted ice cream with the apple crumble. sadly, more than half an hour later i was still waiting. nothing arrived another staff member arrived and asked me what i wanted. i told her i was still waiting for my order which the other waitress had taken over 30 minutes ago. they'd obviously forgotten all about it. she asked me if i still wanted it? i really didn't feel like re-ordering after the long wait, so declined. i went to anotherplacewhere i was served promptly. rude staff, not even an apology!. won't be going back there again.

i read a few reviews to see if i'm being a little harsh but i don't feel so bad now. i live 10 minutes down the road and pass it everyday on my way home. i've only ever been here for coffee (which is average) but thisplacefor whatever reason always attracts a crowd and i can't understand why. i haven't eaten here as every time i walk past i look at what the dishes look like sitting in front of the diners outside i am turned off. the food in my option is below average and with so many better choices it baffles me that people continue to dine here. maybe that's a good thing, if everyone keeps going to corellis that means there will always be a table waiting for me at my fave cafe.

this cafe is a battlefeild. so the truth about thisplace(ive been going for years) is that the waiters are the rudest people in the word, they are like the soup nazi's, but at the end of the day they have massive servings, cheep food and the meals are pretty healthy, so as long as you are prepared to put up a little fight and demand respect, you will also get respect. its like you order a salad and enter into this new world of battle in which you must win honor and respect. i feel ive won respect as i have been playing the corellis game for a long while now and now know how to win.

slow service on a slow day. while the food is passable the service is slow. friendly, well meaning but vague wait staff seen to have no comprehension of turning tables over or getting coffee and meals delivered promptly with any sense of urgency. food arrives without cutlery, served with an 'oops' .. only to watch another table be served food by the same waitress, before bothering to provide the necessary eating utensils. coffee was mediocre and food was overcooked yet cold. there are other options nearby who serve better food and more quickly. if you don't have taste buds or have plenty of time to waste, then corellis is theplacefor you.

always a favourite. the service at corelli's is notoriously terrible but thats part of its charm.
have been coming here for many years and the food and coffee are always consistent. the coffee isn't the best you can get in newtown but since they are open till midnight every night you don't have many better options past about 8pm.
the food is great for the price and there is heaps of vegetarian options. having recently gone vegan i was surprised when i realised how little vegan there is on the menu but you can always get pasta without the cheese etc, staff all know what vegan means at least so its easy to check if something can be made vegan.
greatplaceto chill with friends and the opening hours make it even better, the recent change to only seating more than 2 round the side if you want to sit outside is kind of annoying but i'll still be coming back plenty.

terrible service. all i wanted to do wasplacemy order after waiting for over 15 mins and was told to f off for staring at the waitress. never been treated so poorly. wouldn't ever go back. if you don't want to take an order then find a new job!!!!

customer service. my partner and i went to corellis as we had heard good things about the food. what we experienced though was some of the rudest behaviour from a waitress that we're ever experienced. it was busy when we turned up so service was understandably slow. when we were eventually served the waitress gave off such a hostile vibe that i actually thought it might be a practical joke. unfortunately it wasn't. when the food came (which was actually pretty good) she displayed a similar attitude and when she came back a third time she was even worse. really curt and rude. we didn't say anything as we didn't want to make a scene but won't be going within 10 feet of theplaceever again. it was so surreal. maybe it was a case of mistaken identity and she thought we were a couple she knows and doesn't like!! shame as we've just moved to the area and live quite close.

not worth the wait.. i went in there a few days ago at 8:40 in the morning. it wasn't busy at all - maybe 4 people having coffees. realising that this was a good time to be getting a quick breakfast, i ordered the eggs benedict and sat back and waited. and waited. at 9:00 i asked the waiter who took my order if my eggs bene was coming any time soon. at that very moment, i could hear the sizzle of something being put on the grill. she said that they had just started.
why it took so long (bear in mind it was not busy) was not explained, nor was there any acknowledgement of the length of time it was taking.

life is too short - i walked out, down the road and around the corner to another cafe. they had my eggs in front of me within 5 minutes, and they were a lot busier. i wonder why...
the previous time i was there, the staff would simply sling the drinks on the part of the table closest to them without even trying to give the coffee to the right person. slack.

on another note - newtown bohemia doesn't exist any more as theplaceis increasingly gentrified. any review talking about people watching and inked and tattooed people is 10 years out of date.

crap service. went to correlli's early yesterday morning to get my morning coffee. the rudeness shown to me by the woman behind the counter was simply stunning. i offered her $5.40 to pay the $2.90 for the long black so i would get a straight $2.50 change and the woman behind the counter translated that to "i shagged your mother and her pet dog", or something equally as insulting such was the venom shown to me.

my change was actually slapped into my hand while she muttered under her breath and i was then flowered with the most disgraceful display of sarcasm. if it were the first time it happened, then i'd just think that she was having a bad morning, but it seems to be a common theme. it also seems from looking at this site that a mountain of other people feel the same way about correlli's.

i actually wanted to throw the coffee from the counter and over the counter for the way i was treated.

definitely aplaceto stay away from. i will not be spoken to like that again.

fantastic!. love, love, love this place! food, coffee, atmosphere, thisplacehas it all! huge servings and great value for money! a must if you're in newtown!

the menu is amazing,shame it's lacking in execution and flavour.the service is not what i would call "customer service friendly",but my experience was not as bad as friends have informed me about there own experiences. theplaceitself is quite quaint,but unfortunately it is lacking in substance.my good itself wasn't exceptionally horrendous,but by no means would i hurriedly find my way back there. there are much better places to eat at newtown.
