congee noodle house

love the food, hate the service. i love the food here, i get take out from there all the time and sometimes i eat in. i noticed that when i go with my chinese co-worker they are always nice to me. but any time i go by myself or order take-out over the phone in english (i am caucasian), they are extremely rude to me. i'm not sure if they are racist against white people or not but every single time i have gone about ordering without my co-worker around, they treat me like i am wasting their time. has anyone else had this experience?

watch out for the bill and the change. this is not a very honest place in terms of billing and getting the correct change back. there have been numerous times the cashier short-changed us in different occasions. if you do not notice, you wil always get a dollar or 2 dollars short-changed. if you notice it and the cashier (the owner) denies it right in front of your face. she would accuse you that you've miscounted the change. in addition, she purposedly returns the change with big bills like $5 bills with few coins in between. that means that you have to give her a big tip for the bill. the food is good, but this dishonest owner is up to no good. you think about it, if every customer gets 1-2 dollars short-changed, there are at least $400 extra per day, then x30 days=$12000 per month ....i will never go back again for the rude service and a scam like this........no matter how good the foods are. this is not the only place where offers good foods. i don't want to feel like a fool and get cheated with my eyes open.......

too much msg?. quite a busy monday lunch time. beef noodle soup was a bit greasy. the congee was quite tasty but i suspected there might be too much msg in it - felt very thirsty afterwards. service was ok for this kind of chinese noodle house. will hesitate to go back.

the go to place for our family dinners seems to be congee noodle house these days. i’ve been here so often that i’m not really sure what i haven’t tried anymore! congee noodle house offers chinese cuisine family style.

i like the food, but the one post tiffany h posted i have to agree, service and attitude is so poor! i mean we ordered the food and then we ordered wonton noodle soup and they made a mistake. instead they brought wonton soup. so we asked for the waitress and one waitress comes and asks what do you want? and then the lady who took the order comes over with a mad face and says you said "wonton soup"!. my dad was nice enough to leave a tip but if i was paying the bill i would leave no tip, i'm sorry but bad service and there i won't go back!

the restaurant is your typical chinese establishment - cash only, and "bad service" in that you usually have to wave down the servers to get what you want. but the food is pretty tasty, and their late night menu (which starts at 9:30pm) has some fairly priced deals.

i was a little surprise when they offered us free sweet soup 糖水! this is definitely something new as i never remember they do that before. but hey, why not! i like free sweet soup! black glutinous rice with coconut milk is one of my favourite chinese dessert! this was delicious with good amount of the rice and not overly sweet. the coconut milk made it that much more fragrant and tasty! it definitely end the meal on a sweet note ;)

have been going to this restaurant for a few yrs now and i really do like it. the noodle dishes and congee are good and its open pretty late. i must mention tthough, i actually boycotted this place for 2 years after an incident where i found 3 pubes in one of our dishes. maybe it was because we complained about something earlier but the attitude we got from the manager was ridiculous. i have forgave them for that and now i do go back there but it always stuck with me. thats my 2 sense

food is great.. service not.. great congee and small dishes. service is hit or miss. they run out of things after 9pm. love their fried donuts.

congee noodle house is my all time favorite asian restaurant. not only does it have amazing value but the food is incredible.

i always order the beef brisket rice noodle soup, by far the best in town. the meat is so tender it melts in your mouth and the noodles are so thick and flavourful. don't even get me started about the soup. unreal.

if you haven't gone to try this place it is a must.

just the congee.... been here about a dozen times now and come to the conclusion that this place is just really good for congee and not much else. tonight, ordered several dishes and everything was so greasy. at the bottom of the plate of the soy noodles was a pool of oil...
would only come back now on a cold and rainy day for the seafood congee to go. note: they have "itchy bum" chairs. meaning once you sit down on their chairs, you get an itchy bum. wonder why?!

cnh is our usual go to restaurant if we are craving chinese food. unfortunately, they are victims of their own success. though the food is tasty the service has been lacking. the last time we were there, it was smoking busy...even at 11:00 pm during mid-week. the food was substandard when it arrived and afterwards decided not to go back for a long time. last night was ridiculous and the last we will ever step foot in there again (too bad, i really enjoy the congee). we arrived after 10:30 pm and was immediately seated and our orders taken. just your typical congee, donut and a rice dish. we waited close to 30 minutes and nothing came out. we were trying to flag people but unsuccessful and decided to wait a few more minutes. we then noticed people coming in after us and getting their orders after a few minutes! the waitress forgot to enter our order! we just got up and walked out the door.

good chinese. good authentic chinese food, this is my regular go to place. try the congee, it made me go from a non congee fan to a big one. this place is hands down the best for congee. i also would recommend the spicy deep fried squid, which never disappoints. service is lacking, but it is the usual chinese casual restaurant manner so if you are used to waving your arms to get the servers attention, than you will be ok.
