the chinese parsley & sea bass congee is still my favorite and will still keep me coming back. the congee is very good here - in my opinion, one of the better places in vancouver for congee (although overall, i prefer congee noodle king for the consistency and value). ofcourse, congee noodle house has so many other items on the menu to offer. a huge menu of congee is complemented by a huge menu of noodles and rice. therestaurantis very spacious – and the atmosphere is incredibly casual, but the service is very quick. as casual as the items may look, they do prepare fancier ingredients like live seafood, which are likely for dinner meals. there’s a tank holding the seasonal items (lobster, crab, live prawns etc). today we saw king crab being offered. there’s also parking behind therestaurant– although the lot is often full.

this is a casual chineserestaurantlocated on broadway near main street with a very large menu consisting of congee, noodles, rice and chinese barbecue. i had their pineapple sweet & sour pork on steamed rice (which i upgraded to fried rice for an extra $2.5) and their b.b.q. duck with noodle. the food was actually quite good, and the prices are reasonable given the quality and portion sizes. unfortunately, what really soured my experience was the rather poor service. since i was a single diner, i had to share a table with a few other diners, which is understandable as they have mainly large tables at the restaurant. however, they were quite slow in cleaning the tables, and i found myself sitting with a pile of dirty dishes from a previous diner right next to me. moreover, the staff were very inattentive and never checked once on our table other than to bring the food. one of the other diners that i was sharing the table with asked for her bill and i swear she waited probably 15 minutes before the server finally arrived with her bill. i seriously felt sorry for her. all in all, while i really did like the food, the lackluster service prevents me from whole-heartedly recommending this place.

pineapple sweet & sour pork on steamed rice ($12.50 + $2.50 for fried rice):
4/5
the pork was very good: it was tender, meaty and quite crispy wihtout an overly thick batter. the sauce was thick, and had a good balance between sweet and tangy. i got the dish with fried rice for an extra $2.50, and although the rice was quite tasty and had a nice savoury flavour, i actually don't think that you need to have it as the sauce was very flavourful and probably would be better paired with plain rice. although a bit on the pricier side, the portion that they provide is fairly generous, and given the quality, i do think it's worth the cost.

b.b.q. duck with noodle ($10):
4/5
they have two versions, either the the noodles in soup or with the soup on the side - i had mine with the soup on the side. the noodles had a very nice bouncy texture. there is a pretty good amount of bbq duck. the duck itself was quite flavourful, although i found it to be a bit too boney. the side of broth had a good savory flavour, and went well with the noodles.

summary:
food: 4/5
price: 4/5
service: 1.5/5
overall: 3.5/5
recommendations: pineapple sweet & sour pork on steamed rice, soup/mixed noodles

very authentic chineserestaurantwhere they take their food and efficiency seriously. the decor is minimal, and it has the feel of a simple noodle/congeerestaurantin the depths of hong kong. on weekends, expect few waits (people rarely spend more than 45 mins there!) the lady who served us seated us right by a table by the window at the corner of the restaurant, and it was cold over there! i didn't notice it at first but when i took off my jacket, it was pretty much an icebox. i didn't really care though at first either. i ordered the supreme soy sauce fried noodles, as i really craved a good chow mein. we also ordered two congees, mine was the meatball and fish slice congee, and the chinese fried lettuce. then the lady left- and we realized we wanted 粽 (sticky rice dumpling). we waved our hands but the lady returned our wave with her dismissive one. i feel like there aren't enough servers, but after all the food comes quickly (we got our 粽 anyway.)

first came the noodles, and they were fried really well. the noodles were really oily but that was just because of the soy sauce (and just one meal with too much sodium- who cares?) the texture was perfect (springy and chewy) but because of the icebox table we were at, the noodles went too cold too quickly. with the congee, i could taste the msg from the first spoon....but the congee was still really good (fish slices added a pleasant texture.) the sticky rice dumplings had little flavor, and there wasn't any meat, all just duck egg. it was a little disappointing considering the authenticity of the rest of the dishes. the veggies were really good but the accompanying sauce had a strange flavor.

i feel congee noodle house needs a renovation, the place looks really worn out and the tables are old and the chairs are dirty.....

overall there is not much special about the restaurant, but if you want traditional hk fare, come here.

congee noodle house is regularly ranked by zomato as one of the top 10 restaurants in metro vancouver based on popularity.  serving hong-kong style dishes that is delicious and affordable, congee noodle is also a hit for anyone looking for late night eats as they open until 2 am.  earlier this month, i visited congee noodle house for some comforting eats, specifically congee and noodle.  what better place to enjoy these than at arestaurantwhose name suggests that they specialise exactly in those things?

the congee is very good here, we usually order the congee with fish, chinese donut, bbq duck, chow mein, and the green beans. most of the food is pretty standard for a chinese place. this is the type ofrestauranta lot of young people come to after a night at the bar.

service is terrible (no surprise), and prices are not as cheap as you would expect.

it's been a few years since  we visited cnh on main and broadway for congee.  we came on a saturday morning before 11am. . it was strange because therestaurantlooked very empty.  from our previous visits, we always had to wait for a table so we were quite surprised. . we ordered some chinese donuts. they were done quite well crispy on the outside and doughy and soft in the inside. 100x better than the crap we got from neptune wonton out at the yvr outlets.

consistently solid congee. love their variety and seems like no matter what time i come, it's always busy. this time i tried their duck on rice and my opinion on the bbq is mediocre. the skin seemed too dry for my liking.

there was also one waitress who came out of the kitchen yelling at all her colleagues for placing a dish at a wrong table. she yelled so loud the entirerestaurantwent quiet. very unprofessional but hopefully not a regular occurrence.

i was feeling a bit sick and wanted some congee. my bf suggested congee noodle house. we arrived what seem like right after lunch rush at 12:50pm on a tuesday.

therestaurantis fairly large and they have 3-4 waitresses. one seems to be concentrated on cleaning tables. the others are busy running around. we definitely had to get their attention to place our order.

the congee is excellent. super smooth and silky texture. the sweet fried biscuit was a bit tough on the outside but soft enough inside. we had an order of the rice in a leaf and it was huge! the beef flank was super tender and the flavour was bang on.

overall we had a great experience with the food and will definitely be back!

to be completely honest, the quality of the food here was forgettable (and so, i don't even remember the taste of the congee). however, what i distinctly remember was how poor the service here.

we came inside and looked at the menu. below is a transcript of what happened:
"do you have any sesame sauce for the steamed rice rolls?"
"no, we don't serve."

"... could we have the ostrich cong-"
"we don't have ostrich."

"could we order the stir-fried noo-"
"the chef isn't here."

honestly, if you're going to open arestaurantwith no options available for customers, you might as well keep your doors closed.

caution !! parking is frightfully atrocious at the back. therestauranthas squeezed too many stalls into too small an area. i have sometimes not gone here because of absurd parking and cash only policy. however it's open late & food's not bad - congee is pretty good.

hello everyone! doing a super short post today because i've been loaded with homework recently. the other day after driving to surrey with my bro to do some errands, we ended up going to congee noodle house for lunch. it was a cold, chilly day in vancouver and i was really craving for some good and cheap asian food. thisrestaurantis located on broadway and main. they have a few parking spots at the back but it's very limited. we went on a weekday, so there were plenty of spots at the back. everything on the menu is super affordable and my whole family loves coming here for a simple and delicious meal. i ended up getting a wonton noodle in soup. (approx. $6.00) the soup tasted great and the wontons are made out of real shrimp. it's an extremely simple dish but i love it. we ended up getting two dishes & ordered another meal on the side for my other bro. total came up to approx. $19.00. $20.00 bucks here can get you three filling meals and i highly recommend coming here if you are on a budget and want some great food to warm up your belly. service: 3/5 food: 3.5/5 price: $ overall rating: 3.25/5 enjoy! -jess

therestaurantis your typical chinese establishment - cash only, and "bad service" in that you usually have to wave down the servers to get what you want. but the food is pretty tasty, and their late night menu (which starts at 9:30pm) has some fairly priced deals.

have been going to thisrestaurantfor a few yrs now and i really do like it. the noodle dishes and congee are good and its open pretty late. i must mention tthough, i actually boycotted this place for 2 years after an incident where i found 3 pubes in one of our dishes. maybe it was because we complained about something earlier but the attitude we got from the manager was ridiculous. i have forgave them for that and now i do go back there but it always stuck with me. thats my 2 sense

cnh is our usual go torestaurantif we are craving chinese food. unfortunately, they are victims of their own success. though the food is tasty the service has been lacking. the last time we were there, it was smoking busy...even at 11:00 pm during mid-week. the food was substandard when it arrived and afterwards decided not to go back for a long time. last night was ridiculous and the last we will ever step foot in there again (too bad, i really enjoy the congee). we arrived after 10:30 pm and was immediately seated and our orders taken. just your typical congee, donut and a rice dish. we waited close to 30 minutes and nothing came out. we were trying to flag people but unsuccessful and decided to wait a few more minutes. we then noticed people coming in after us and getting their orders after a few minutes! the waitress forgot to enter our order! we just got up and walked out the door.

good chinese. good authentic chinese food, this is my regular go to place. try the congee, it made me go from a non congee fan to a big one. this place is hands down the best for congee. i also would recommend the spicy deep fried squid, which never disappoints. service is lacking, but it is the usual chinese casualrestaurantmanner so if you are used to waving your arms to get the servers attention, than you will be ok.
