congee noodle house

to be completely honest, the quality of the food here was forgettable (and so, i don't even remember the taste of the congee). however, what i distinctly remember was how poor the service here.

we came inside and looked at the menu. below is a transcript of what happened:
"do you have any sesame sauce for the steamed rice rolls?"
"no, we don't serve."

"... could we have the ostrich cong-"
"we don't have ostrich."

"could we order the stir-fried noo-"
"the chef isn't here."

honestly, if you're going to open a restaurant with no options available for customers, you might as well keep your doors closed.

really bomb place 👌 the food is always great, but service is eh. they servers seem pretty cold, but then again, i'm not exactly sure. but whatever, the food makes up for it anyways.

caution !! parking is frightfully atrocious at the back. the restaurant has squeezed too many stalls into too small an area. i have sometimes not gone here because of absurd parking and cash only policy. however it's open late & food's not bad - congee is pretty good.

not bad for quick chinese take out on a lazy day - ordered sweet and sour pork as well as a spaghetti with egg, tomato sauce and bacon/ham. these are some of my dad's favourite hong kong style comfort foods and although nothing special, pleases his palate so no complaints. decent eats for decent prices.

i went to this place on a sunday afternoon, there was a short line up, about five minutes wait, i ordered chinese won ton noodle and soup, and chinese rice flour wrap in pork, very good sunday brunch, would recommend this place to chinese food lovers.

the food is great. good congee! they have many selections that you can choose from. furthermore the menu is longggg! lots of items. they are not too greasy and not too salty! the chow mein was really good - i think we ate it all and still wanted more. we'll be back for sure but the service isn't that great...but the food makes up for it!

i'm a huge fan of congee (lean pork & preserved egg to be specific) and i've been to several congee houses in vancouver as well as richmond but i always end up coming back to this location for their congee. their other dishes are generic dishes you would find at chinese restaurants and they're flavorful. love this place for late night eats!

hello everyone! doing a super short post today because i've been loaded with homework recently. the other day after driving to surrey with my bro to do some errands, we ended up going to congee noodle house for lunch. it was a cold, chilly day in vancouver and i was really craving for some good and cheap asian food. this restaurant is located on broadway and main. they have a few parking spots at the back but it's very limited. we went on a weekday, so there were plenty of spots at the back. everything on the menu is super affordable and my whole family loves coming here for a simple and delicious meal. i ended up getting a wonton noodle in soup. (approx. $6.00) the soup tasted great and the wontons are made out of real shrimp. it's an extremely simple dish but i love it. we ended up getting two dishes & ordered another meal on the side for my other bro. total came up to approx. $19.00. $20.00 bucks here can get you three filling meals and i highly recommend coming here if you are on a budget and want some great food to warm up your belly. service: 3/5 food: 3.5/5 price: $ overall rating: 3.25/5 enjoy! -jess

racist !. walk in and waited sometime for service, ordered food and waitress was rude, food was cold

even though i don’t really like congee that much i liked this! this was the century egg and pork congee. they state on their menu that all their congees come with peanuts and green onion. the congee was well flavoured as in salty and didn’t taste plain like what my mom makes haha i think that’s why i don’t like congee at home…

i was in a rush so i ordered some items to go but i found that congee noodle house was very slow. as it turns out, they forgot my order and didn’t realize it until one of the waitresses wondered why i was still there.

the wonton in chef special spicy sauce was indeed very saucy… too much so for my liking. if anything, it was more of a sweet sauce rather than spicy but the wontons were okay...

very good. i am new to congee.
i understand it is an asian breakfast dish, and a very good food when feeling unwell or having digestive issues.
i recently visited this place at mid-day on a friday. super busy and a bit disoriented about where to wait / get in line for a table.
i stood in the cashier line up and they sorted me out: wait over there, it will be about 20 minutes.
5 minutes later i was seated, brought (free) tea, and ordered sliced beef congee, and salted chinese donuts.
i normally wouldn't eat any (deep fried) dessert type item but i was curious. a sizeable plate of donuts arrived, which i topped with red vinegar and chili sauce. delicious.
congee is porridge-like in consistency. it was not salty at all, but the subtly seasoned (ginger, peanuts etc) blandness makes sense for this dish.
it was only $6, and i couldn't finish it all.
my body 'told' me that this was a healthy dish.
the place is super busy, hard working wait staff. very prompt and business-like. flag them down if you need something seems to be the custom.
i just asked a server to bring me a take-away container and packaged the left-overs myself.
pay at the cashier. your bill will be magically waiting for you.
i'm looking forward to returning for 'breakfast' again.

half is tomato sauce with chicken on rice and the other half is shrimp with cream sauce on rice. both are pretty good but i think i like the cream sauce better. this was $13.50.
