cute place to eat for cheap.. i've been tocliveburger a few times, my first time tryingclivewas definitely the greatest.

ambiance: the wall decor and the place overall is cute. the place looked bigger than i expected from the outside! cute and simple.

food: food is definitely greasy but hey, i love a good ol' greasy burger from time to time. my favourite part is where i can customize my own burger to my liking, depending how i feel that day. from the top bun to the patty, to everything in between, i do enjoy eating at this place once in a while. the fries are delicious, i think it's because they fry it with peanut oil instead of regular grease. best part of everything is... theclivesauce! i always ask for extraclivesauce.

service: can't say much about the service since it's pretty much like a fast food joint, convenient how they have a buzzer to let you know your food's ready while you sit down at a table; very smart.

decent little place to go to; hits the spot nicely after a drunken night out with friends for sure or just a chill hang out with some friends for a quick food stop on a nice day.

a ++ burger and shake. my visit was late on a sunday evening, so the restaurant was not too busy. service and staff were top notch! the menu is simple, which is great in my opinion. they do only a few things, so they should do them well. in fact, they do hamburgers great! i was absolutely knocked out by the quality of the double cheese i received.the bun and the fixings (hats-off to theclivesauce) were an enhancement to the overwhelmingly moist and perfectly cooked bugger patties. quite honestly, i wasn't expecting this. truly a contender for the best burger in calgary.

the fries were fine but not outstanding. theclivecustard shake is a destination item all by itself. simply terrific!

very sub par. i had high expectations going in, and was very dissapointed. first, the fries were awesome! perfect crunch and their sauce with it is great. but the burger was a huge dissapointment. the meat is great, the bun is decent, but the extras are dreadful. the lettuce on my burger was wilty, old and only one small peice was on the burger. for a $7 burger that thing should have fresh produce, and enough to be satisfying. the tomato was barely there and seemed old also, skimped on the sauce, skimped on everything really.
i compare this place to alley burger (about the same price) and the food experience isnt even close. you get what you pay for at alley burger, this unfortunatly is much to much. one in my group said a big mac would have been better than this thing, so once the "hipsters" are done with this place it will be gone soon enough. ill take the poutinery right beside it any day ahead ofcliveburger. 2 thumbs wayyyy down

really yummy!. i've been tocliveburger a few times. let me tell you, i love burgers, and i have tried many all over the cities. clive's is one of my favourites. theclivesauce is so good. their burgers are yummy and fresh. the fries are quite good, but make sure you eat them when they're super hot, otherwise they're kinda gross. the custard shakes are really thick and really good. i recommend the chocolate one. only downsides: a tad expensive for what it is, and sometimes it takes a while to make. otherwise, check it out if you're on 17th ave.

do one thing well.. they have greasy new-old school burgers. thin locally sourced grass-fed beef patty's fried on a flat top with buttered and flat top grilled buns. you get to pick from a list of toppings that for the most part are included in the price. also, they serve beer and some other alcoholic beverages that i don't recall. the only condiment i get isclivesauce, on both the burger and to dip the fries in. i appreciate the effort in creating a signature sauce that isn't thousand island dressing. the fries are thoroughly cooked and crispy. some people are into flaccid fries, i just don't get it. i've been to clive's at least 5 times, i guess i like it.

reply to frank "the latest foray into the "gourmet burger" game.". frank,
i went tocliveburger yesterday, and have good news for you, i think they took your recommendations, or this review to heart. there are print out menu's at the front door, so you don't need to look at the main menu, i never saw any magazines anywhere, they have 'buzzing' coasters that go off when your order is complete, the custard machine was up and running (and delicious!) and they now have rather cheddar or swiss cheese to choose from - and yes it is real.
my experience from yesterday was awesome! the staff was friendly and my burger was delicious.
i will definitely make it back here soon, although the cost is a little high for a burger - it really is delicious and it's also on 17th, which is expected.

oh, something else that was great, the place seemed very 20+ crowd, which may be due to the patio out front, but i enjoyed not having the annoying 17th ave teenage crowd ruining my meal.

liked it !. great burger , fresh toppings ( liked the big pickles ) , fries were also good and plentiful . very tasty chipolte sauce ! the cheese was a disappointing though , the texture and taste reminded me of craft singles . also liked the interior and artwork . will return .

the fact that the beef is home grown / hormone / antibiotic free justifies the extra price to me . how can anyone comparecliveto drive through burgers ?

this burger triumphs all. the title says it all. i got a double...definitely enough beef. not sure what the haters are talking about. this is pure perfection. best burger in calgary in my opinion...and i consider myself to be a burger connoisseur. thankscliveburger for finally perfecting the art of burger making. big thumbs up!

omg best burger joint ever. i went tocliveburger with my lovely friend that works there, and wow that was honestly the best burger i've ever had. juicy, full of flavor and just all around delicious. you get to choose your toppings, we took them all. and it was amazing. the fries are also ridiculously good. make sure to ask for theclivesauce to dip them in, you will not regret it.

easily one of the best hamburgers i've had. a nice range of toppings complement the amazingly juicy patties, made exclusively with alberta beef, i had burgers withclivesauce and added a fried egg and cheddar. had to have a second one! the poutine was quite good as well and the 'boozy shake' bourbon banana was pretty interesting. a must visit.

i love a good hamburger and the ones they do atcliveburger are amongst the best i've had. they may not be pretty (in the conventional sense) or have avant-garde toppings but the beef is great quality, the fixings fresh and the bun perfectly proportioned and tender. so  roll up your sleeves, remove your rings, wrist watch and prepare yourself for a messy, but satisfying experience.

it is not what it once was. . . the visit last week was a bit disappointing. i have been going here since it opened a few years ago. the quality had been going up and down for the last couple of years

i would say it you think you want acliveburger, go to the national on 17th on thursdays for thecliveburger and a beer for $15.00.

a great join for burgers & fries andclivesauce is off the chain! its like that good burger movie when ed makes the secret sauce.... well its here atcliveburger. staff are verry kind and cheerful in this open concept burger joint. the ambiance itself is bright and energetic and very well lit with booths and assorted seating!

i really like the burgers atclivebut i can't justify eating here because of the price. the burgers are on the small side and the patties are quite thin, so even if you get a double (which is around $10 not including a side) you'll probably still be hungry. the other thing i don't like is how the only options for cheese are processed cheese slices, which they charge extra for. that cheese is not even close to being worth a dollar, i wouldn't even eat it if it were free. great customer service and nice interior but they need to be more realistic about what they're charging.

good quality and tasty, with a pricey tag.
i ordered a double hamburger ($10), and got most of the free toppings. the bun is fantastic, soft and pillowy, and you can tell the meat is of good quality. i really enjoyed theclivesauce which is a spicy mayo type.
