tasty gluten free burger!. first time i've had a gluten free burger that didn't have soggy bread. it was very yummy. the fries were great too and they are fried in peanut oil and came with a tasty dipping sauce. i ate the whole bag. however, the smokie was pretty dry and tough. atmosphere is nice, but they could use some arcade machines or something. but i will def gobackfor the burger and fries!

meh - nothing special. i tried the single with cheese ($7), which isn't a bad price if the burger was good. instead they were extremely tiny and had an average taste at best. seriously, where was the meat?!? the fries ($4) were over cooked and extremely salty (trying to get customers to buy more beer?) to the point where i couldn't eat them any more. i will say that there were a lot of fries in the bag, but again what's the point if you can't eat it. with all the burger options in this city, i don't see myself headingbackany time soon.

reply to frank "the latest foray into the "gourmet burger" game.". frank,
i went to clive burger yesterday, and have good news for you, i think they took your recommendations, or this review to heart. there are print out menu's at the front door, so you don't need to look at the main menu, i never saw any magazines anywhere, they have 'buzzing' coasters that go off when your order is complete, the custard machine was up and running (and delicious!) and they now have rather cheddar or swiss cheese to choose from - and yes it is real.
my experience from yesterday was awesome! the staff was friendly and my burger was delicious.
i will definitely make itbackhere soon, although the cost is a little high for a burger - it really is delicious and it's also on 17th, which is expected.

oh, something else that was great, the place seemed very 20+ crowd, which may be due to the patio out front, but i enjoyed not having the annoying 17th ave teenage crowd ruining my meal.

where's the beef?. first the good: great atmosphere and location, great fries, and good custard shakes. the not so good: super expensive for what you get. the burgers are good (not great) and insanely small (i.e. they are mini-burgers, you could order a triple and still have room for desert). nice place to try...if burgers where better (or 2 for 1) i would bebackmore often.

honestly, there is nothing cuter than the little cartoon hamburgers, fries, hotdogs, etc. adorning the walls of this local burger joint. they offer single ($7), double ($10), or triple ($13) hamburgers with your choice of the usual toppings. for $1-2 more you can add a fried egg, bacon, fried mushroom, or fried onion. i got a single with cheese which was the perfect size for me. beef was well seasoned and juicy. bun was yummy. i also got a poutine. i didn't like it. the fries were drowning in a bath of gravy and were rather soggy as a result. i noticed several people grabbing poutine from next door at the big cheese and then grabbing a burger at clive lol. maybe that's the way to go. nevertheless, i will comebackfor the burgers, and i would like to try their smokies too!

i used to go to clive burger about 4 years ago, regularly. i just movedbackto calgary and had to check it out again. the burgers are juicy & flavourful and the bacon is definitely a must (cheese should never be forgotten - it's delicious).
my finance got the poutine with his burger and a small is definitely a fair sized portion. it has black pepper in the gravy which he enjoyed. he also got the cherry custard shake which he loved! he says he'll comebackjust for that!
we will definitely beback- making clive burger a regular spot again!

just had a veggie burger, found the price (for 17th ave) to be really fair. i thought the amount of free toppings was a nice touch. the lightly toasted super fluffy bun was quite nice. will have to gobackand try the fries as well one day soon.

nice name clive burger but just how good are the burgers? located on 17ave it can be a bit of pain trying to find parking. but once you're inside you'll instantly notice their cute decor art plastered all over the walls. anyways they have a giant menu to the right where you order and first thing struck me is that damn when did burgers get so expensive? this better be one damn amazing burger to justify this price tag. i heard their shakes were to die for but i'm not fond of heavy drinks so grizzly paw sodas for $4 each was my choice.

my girlfriend got their $10 double burger and i got their $13 triple burger clive style. also a small $6 poutine to share. they have lots of seating in thebackof the restaurant tucked away. but when my order was called and i gave it a glance, looked pretty promising. the burger bun is amazing, nice shape to it and pillowy. but when i took my first bite all expectations went down the drain. man what a mediocre burger especially considering the price tag. what ever happened to salt and pepper on burger patties? even with all the toppings it was just mediocrely bland even with all the toppings. what's worse was the poutine. cheese curds, check. fries, check. gravy almost like water, no thanks. man my fries were just swimming in this water gravy.

overall, clive burger was really meh. lunch for 2 was just shy over $40. quite expensive if you ask me for some simple burgers. i like their artwork and all but i probably wouldn't go back.

a clean, trendy, and clever restaurant. the service is excellent, the prices are reasonable, and the toppings are fresh. my only complaint is that the burger patty was quite thin, a traditional burger patty should be thick and juicy. overall, an excellent burger joint and would comebackhere again.

its been a few years since i have beenbackto clive burger and i must say i am still impressed.  the burgers are juicy and fresh and the fries were just as good.
my customized burger included a fried egg, lettuce, clive sauce and the beef patty and that was satisfying enough for me. i love the fries, they never disappoint and this was the first time i dipped it in the clive sauce. wow sooo good. i much prefer that over the ketchup.  thank you for a satisfying meal :)

camebackafter a long absence because of a bad experience with a less than standard burger that i had known clive to pump out.

today was completely different! the burger was great! fresh groceries and a nice juicy (but not greasy) burger. i was really excited that they had added poutine to the...

this is the best burger in calgary!!! loved everything about this place. the burger quality was amazing - so fresh and you can tell they aced everything in that burger to be the absolute best. the decor was modern and sleek, and i was impressed with how eco-friendly the place was: from the materials they used in packaging to their bins that indicate specific recycling. i'll bebackfor sure! clive burger, you rock. ps: i've rated a bunch of the better burger joints in town and this is for sure the winner.

it was okay, but nothing that would bring mebackagain.  there are much better burgers out there for a much lower price. the milkshake was delicious though, i will give it that.

it's ok.... i don't hate clive burger but i don't love it either. there's nothing special about the place and it's not a place i crave to gobackto. i do love love love the clive sauce, the fries and the milkshakes. the burgers are extremely plain and only have any taste when smothered in sauce and toppings. the burger itself doesn't taste good, like would it hurt to put some salt, pepper and seasonings in the meat? it's decent if you're looking to eat somewhere late but definitely won't go running back.
