i have frequented this place for close to two years now, over the last six months the service and quality of food has been steadily declining. there are better breakfast joints to spend your dollar at.

very delicious! had memphis french toast, chinook eggs, cheese grits with chili (wow!), and monkey bread. portions are generous and the prices very reasonable. a fun, funky dive with awesome food!

the food is always good; i like the decor, particularly the mural. the waitstaff is always attentive and rarely intrusive. a couple of months ago, we had family visiting. we had been out sightseeing for hours and were all ready for sustenance. i always prefer locally owned establishments so suggested classen grill. upon our arrival, i realized we had arrived 5 minutes before closing! i felt a bit chagrinned, well more than a bit. our waiter, however, never missed a beat. he approached us immediately, smiled, took our orders and took great care of us during our visit. one of our visitors was from here from france. she had been told she 'had to' try a chicken fried steak while she was in oklahoma. although i had never ordered the chicken fry here, i encouraged our guest to do so. it was great! the breading was tasty and just the right amount of crispy; the meat was tender and flavorful. great choice and she really enjoyed her meal as did we all. sorry it took me so long to post!

never been more disappointed in my life. they run out of a iteam and just add extra stuff to the plate i wouldn't eat. come on you should ask the person first before doing that.

beignets with blueberries on the side, never-ending cup of coffee, great creamer selection | respect the staff and they will respect you kind of places | consistently consistent | definitely a goto for this guy

we had lunch. the food was non greasy and generally good. they're apparently non vegetarian friendly. my entrée unexpectedly had meat in it, which i haven't had in a very long time, so i wasn't used to that taste and can't fairly judge it. the side dishes were great.

the service was bad for us (abrupt service, check was brought out before the food), the building was in disrepair, and i especially disliked the advertisements on the tables.

while i didn't enjoy it, i can see how someone else might like it.

what has happened? classen grill used to be a favorite and i realize it's considered "hip" but man, i'm not seeing it. take it easy on these omelettes back there, you're overcooking them and the ingredient portions were so small and chintzy. not impressed. also, my companion said she felt ill after a taquita. i was going to eat that later. instead, i was cockblocked by a taquita:

husband and i came for brunch on a sunday morning. we didn't have to wait for a table which was good.

husband had the eggs and sausage with diced fried potatoes (their hash browns?) and subbed biscuits and gravy instead of toast. i had the colorado burrito which was filled with chili and scrambled eggs, topped with chili con queso (but was really just a cheese sauce) and served with chips, salsa, and sour cream.

all the food was good but it wasn't "wow!" we weren't blown away by it. i don't know if it's because we didn't get a special or whatever it is they're known for. we aren't sure we'll be back again and it's not on the top of our list.

food was slow to come out. it wasn't super busy but it took at least 20 mins to get our food when there was only 2 of us!

they do have freshly squeezed orange juice which was good but i wasn't too big of a fan because i don't like pulp in my orange juice. it wasn't cold either.

so this place is completely classic when it comes to breakfast in oklahoma city. i recommend asking for loretta's section. she may look intimidating but she's been there more years than i can count, she knows the menu well and she can keep up with their customers even when this place is feeding a full house. go for what you like, they do well with most anything and the prices are very accommodating. definitely try some of that fresh squeezed orange juice and go for a waffle if you feel like packing on the morning pounds.

i don't get the crowds at this place. had the chinook eggs, really bad. salmon cakes were mushy and that had bits of eggshell in them. my son had the colorado burrito. he was not impressed either. the building itself really needs some tlc. the coffe was good.

classen grill is good for breakfast. a group of about 8 men have been eating at the classen grill each friday during august. we are generally happy with the food and service. it's an old established mom and pop operation. the decor is pretty dated and looks like it did 25 years ago. all that said, the food is pretty good. i usually get the short stack and they taste homemade. several in our group get the debris biscuit and it looks good and is a lot of food. i don't really care for the hashbrowns as they taste bland and overcooked. i looked at the posted menu and the prices are out of date. short stack is listed at 2.99 but today it is $4.99. service can be good or at times slow. all in all, it is a nice place to eat breakfast.
