it's just that good. mason between us1 and nova is probably one the most forgetful areas in town, but it is home to a few culinary masterpieces. the most recent i discovered is the chucherias hondureñas. it's not the prettiest place, but when i stepped foot inside i scanned the kitchen immediately to my left. i could see the cooks working their magic, and the smell of the tastes i was about to enjoy captivated me.
agoodfriend told me about this place, and she says it's hard for her to go anywhere else. even while i was expecting the best, the sandwiches surpassed my already high expectations. the staff is as sincere and authentic as the food is. the rice, beans and plantains were good, but not extraordinary like the black bean deli in winter park. however, the bread, sauces and service are all great and i ended up eating way more than i should have. i'll definitely be back.

this little restaurant is fantastic! it has the best cubans i've ever eaten and the lady who runs it is passionate about making really good, quality honduran food. she is also very friendly and generous. wonderful food andgoodservice, this is a place i will go back to every time i'm in daytona.

decided to go here as it rated highly on here and trip advisor. this restaurant is very good, the service is outstanding, but you do pay for it, in fact us is over priced in my opinion. we had a glass each of sangria which was very nice. we had corn fritters for entree, (shared) which were nice but nothing special. main, (which we shared) of shrimps (prawns), which was 8 prawns arranged on a bed of mashed potato with 2 chips, again nothing special. for sweets, strawberries marinated in grand marnier with whipped cream (also shared). everything was very nice but we have had better. we were staggered to get the check for $76.31 us dollars, then put a tip on top and the total is near $87. remember this is for 2 drinks, 1 starter, 1 main and 1 dessert. the food is average to aussie standards at best. i understand why this place rates so well as it is verygoodfor us food standards.

tonight was our first visit and we were not disappointed! our server was top notch and we had an owner stop by the table. from the warm bread with guava infused cinnamon butter to the pupusas with cabbage, to my arros con pollo and my husband's cubano sandwich, everything was delicious. the flavors and ingredients were fresh and balanced. even the side salads and plantains made us happy. two salsas: a sweet cilantro and a not-too-hot habanero salsa paired well with all of our meal components. we put the cilantro sauce on everything and it worked. the next table over ordered a few different desserts, which all looked amazing, including flan and a large crepe, with espresso and other coffees. we ordered the restaurant favorite: the sticky toffee. it was a dark heated cake slice (sorry, but i'm not sure if it was chocolate or ginger), homemade raisin rum ice cream, and sliced strawberries covered with warm toffee sauce which was poured at the table. perfection. we ended the meal sipping a sweet port wine and left with smiles on our faces, declaring to go back and try the lunch menu, too.

the parking is plentiful and easy - go through the breezway to find the entrance. we were also advised to phone ahead for a table reservation to be sure we can be accommodated. two large parties were there tonight, so it sounds likegoodadvice!

good food, not so sweet ending.. my husband and i recently went to this restaurant to try something new. our first impression was that we might have made a bad decision, because one of the waiters asked us if we had reservations and acted like it might be a problem if we didn't, even though there were about 10 empty tables. we did get seated, and then were helped by a different waiter who was very nice and gave great service. we were a little surprised by the limited menu, but on the other hand, a bit refreshing from some of the chain restaurants that have pages to choose from. we both selected an appetizer and entrees and waited. one of our entrees was the conch soup, which was delicious, but we were a bit shocked when the bill came to learn that bowl was $16. we understand that conch is not cheap, but were still shocked, it wasn't a huge bowl. however, all the items we ate for dinner were delicious. it was refreshing to have fresh, goodfood, served in the right proportions and dressed up with a bit of class. we had also decided on some desserts to finish our meals and ordered 1 tres leches cake at $7. it was a very small piece of cake that was ok at best. the alcohol was so overwhelming, that we couldn't taste any other flavor. other than that, and the one waiter, the service was great and the main food was delicious.

don't pass this up.. what an great place and what great food. this is the sort of restaurant you hear great things about and then have a hard time finding and when you see how small it is, you think that maybe you should go to the next restaurant on your list. that would be a huge mistake. i had lunch there and the food was awesome. we were greeted by a friendly young man that said that the restaurant was owned by his aunts and that they did all the cooking. i asked for some recommendations and he recommended the finger foods but said that everything was great. he asked if we'd like to sample the black bean soup which was a special of the day. he brought us each a cup of the soup and we know instantly that we had made agoodchoice. it was delicious!

we ordered/split the meat turnovers and griddle cheese corm cake. they were really special. the flavors just popped! i had read someone's review saying that the pineapple juice was really good. as a rule, i'm not a fan of juices and usually stick to water but something made me feel adventurous and i ordered it and boy was i glad.

we finished off with an order of poffertjes which were tiny dutch pancakes with butter and powdered sugar. the server explained how dutch pancakes ended up in a honduran restaurant and then explained that it would take a few minutes as they made it from scratch. we were in no hurry and it didn't take too long and wow was it wonderful.

i find it hard to say enoughgoodthings about this place.

outstanding!. chucherias hondureñas

i probably drove past this little honduran restaurant a dozen times before a friend pointed it out and recommended it as a reallygoodplace to have lunch. after having been back twice now, i wholeheartedly agree!

all of the magic happens in a small open kitchen just inside the entry door. it's about half the size of my modest home kitchen. you are greeted by an amazing flurry of sounds, aroma's and activity during peak lunchtime periods and you know as soon as you sniff the air inside the building that you're going to have something reallygoodto eat.

the menu has agoodselection of choices from appetizers to entree's, cuban-style pressed hot sandwiches, soups, salads and desserts and is vegan-friendly. thus far, all the dishes i have tried (including the pupusas de queso, the sandwiches, soups, etc.) have all been top notch. for dessert, try the poffertjes (a serving of small shortbread cookie sandwiches coated with powdered sugar) they are a sinfully addictive finale to a great meal.

whether you're in town for one of the annual events, looking for a new place to try, or just passing by on the way to the beach and hungry, i believe it's worth your time to stop in and try some of chucherias hondureñas's offerings.

their hours are 10:30 am - 4:00 pm on weekdays and 10 to 4 saturdays.

enjoy

awesome family owned restaurant, not in best part of town but the food is great. my wife and i had the steak and pork dinners and both were great; steak a little mire flavorful, but both used high quality cuts of meat, and only cost $7.50! the free chicken soup starter was the best we have ever had anywhere. the meal is served with homemade sauces, they were sogoodwe asked them to make us a bottle and picked it up on our second visit if the week! restaurant is absolutely spotlessly maintained with the cleanest bathrooms we have ever seen. the owners cook and wit on the tables...a truly great find!!
