chucherias hondurenas

rain whipped through the panhandle sending children and both dogs into our bed.  i had the misfortune of driving through the rain storm a second time on my way towards florida’s east coast.  after a harrowing drive full of blue haired piloted land yachts absentmindedly drifting across lanes of traffic and tractor trailers cutting off fellow drivers i arrived in sunnydaytonabeach.  i needed to relax and made my way towards chucherias hondureñas for lunch. a large colorful sign marked the location of the restaurant, and i walked though a covered stone walkway towards the front entryway.  chucherias is located at 101 2 nd street in a large low slung stone building.  a large live oak tree draped with spanish moss reached its limbs over round tables neatly arranged on the patio and dotted with bright orange and yellow umbrellas. i walked inside and sat at a small bar.  a man behind the bar greeted me and provided me with a glass of water.  chucherias specializes in latin american food fro

when jacksonville top food blogger, told me i had to absolutely go to this restaurant i believed him.  i was spending a few days in st. augustine, so driving down to holly hill  close todaytonawas not a problem.  i left in time to take in a late leisurely  lunch.  it was a little strange once i arrived, my misconception of what i was looking for took over and i shot right past, circled around and finally spotted it.  the property looked like an abandoned strip mall, but there on the corned was chucherias hounurenas.  once parked and walking inside this is what i encountered;

amazing. went there on adaytonavacation, and it was some of the best food i've ever had. the sangria was great, the pupusas and chicken were amazing, and the catch of the day was amazing.

great lunch today!!. we had a great lunch today at chucherias! their new location is great, nice clean atmosphere of almost like a custom built cabin with a big stone fireplace, fresh roses on every table and great food. i had the pan con bisteca which was great, comes with two dipping sauces a cilantro and i think a red pepper sauce. my wife had turkey panini which was also very good. we also started with a complementary cup of soup and had empanadas. this place is a little gem if you are tired of the same old restraunts indaytona- port orange area. great flavors, authentic food. we have not been there for dinner yet but will try it out soon!! a must visit place for lunch!!

delicious chicken soup. best time to visit is after 1pm - love the chicken soup, and their chicken plate. to drink, i love the pineapple juice, it is freshly made.

the best lunch spot indaytonabeach. this is one of the best restaurants indaytonabeach if you are looking to enjoy a quick lunch that is out of the ordinary.

i would highly recommend their fresh pineapple juice - my personal favorite.

the chicken soup is delicious!

if i am on the run, i like to call ahead and order their cuban sandwich, but if i can seat down and enjoy.. i like always have their chicken plate..

highly recommended.

wonderful experience!. cozy restaurant only open during lunch hours. food was excellent. service was good - server spoke very little english, but made for an "authentic" experience. really enjoyed myself and will go again when i find myself indaytonabeach. thanks to urbanspoon for this local gem.

down to earth food. if i had not searched for rest. indaytonabeach i would never have found this place. and to my surprise it was the best thing that i did, place is small but it was extremely clean and the aromas coming from the front were heavenly. i went a few times so i pretty much got to order everything on the menu. and it was great!!!! plenty of food and the price was great. can't wait till next year this will be on of my regular vacation stops. oh, and i would like to thank the ladies for being so friendly kind of made you feel at home.

best lunch in daytona!!!!. best lunch indaytona, excellent service and the food is amazing. my favorite is the veg plate, my husband & daugther love the cuban sandwich.i'll give to this restaurant 5 stars

five stars. first time i review.. butthis place came highly recommended by the front desk staff at our hotel indaytonabeach as a great honduran eatery.
this place is very small but wonderful and perfect for any occasion. if i ever return todaytonabeach i will look forward to making a visit to chucherias hondurenas.
the tripe soup was succulent.
