choices - yas island rotana

we were there a while ago on saturday. the food was pretty good,staffwas okay. the selection was okay too. i have nothing more to say. it was good but not exceptional.
will i recommend it? yes

envoirnment is good food is average, not so much varieties in food drinks are also limited, didnt find tea and coffee in iftar and its too much crowdy toostaffis too much busy anyways overall exp is average.

food is affordable but not exceptional for the price however,staffare polite and very pleasant. kudos to thestaffbut couldnt say the same for the food

stayed for 2 days at the hotel and tried choices for breakfast and dinner. first day, went for breakfast buffet while at the hotel, during eid. the place was packed, service was overwhelmed, no covid safety applied. same thing for the night's buffet, where items went missing (we were informed that there was simply no coordination between kitchen and reservation!)
the next day is where things went from bad to unacceptably wrong. we went to the breakfast buffet, only to be surprised with a massive queue. chaos, queues lasting for more than 2 hours with shoulder to shoulder in covid time, people all over and having to wait for food on what is supposed to be a fun holiday.staffwas lost, people were asked to have breakfast in the lobby.. not recommended..

we stayed at the rotana for 3 nights and had breakfast for 3 days. really good ambiance and good variety for a sumptuous breakfast.staffwere polite and courteous. good variety in breakfast with fruit bread and hot food. there was also an omelette station which makes it all the more better. lovely coffee.

i was in rotana last weekend with friend and due to tiring day at beach , we decided to dine at the restaurant but i will say experience was below average , food was not up to the mark and dishes were empty , refil was taking time and in case of desert the main chocolate pudding ended by the time we decided to take desert . refill was not there .so definitely i will say it’s not offering value for money , in terms ofstaffthey are smiling and helpful but i guess this circle is beyond control for them as well .

we went for the dinner buffet as it was our son's 10th birthday. it was a working night (tuesday) and yet the restaurant had quite few tables occupied.

our son enjoys a good prank, so we requested the restaurant to provide us with a trick cake. emily (restaurant reception staff) put us in touch with the chef who promptly contacted us and kindly obliged.

on the night, thestaffdiscreetly checked with me when to bring out the cake and hence my son was quite surprised and excited to see a cake.

i expected a basic trick cake however chef arranged an elaborate cake that even my husband thought it was the real one. the serving crew also played along with the trick cake charade and my son thoroughly enjoyed the prank and even more the actual delicious chocolate birthday cake.

the customer service provided by thestaffright from reservation to billing was great. the waitstaff(miko) was quite attentive and promptly cleared our table after each course.

the buffet however was quite basic but was okay for the cost of 120dhs per adult inclusive of soft drinks and all taxes. there was a fair selection of salads, cold mezze, main dishes and desserts. the dishes should definitely be reviewed as it needs a fair bit of improvement with regards to its taste. the lamb biryani and beef stir fry were the only dishes that stood out.

the decor was good however the chairs were quite heavy and hence quite tricky to move.

overall it was a great evening for us especially our son but it would have been even better if the food matched the service provided.

i turned up at the brunch and was met by a rude member ofstaffwho gave nothing but bad attitude throughout the brunch. i then waited about 20 minutes to be served and i received my first drink at 1pm even though the brunch started at 12.3p. i had to go and take the knives and forks from the other table just to have enough cutlery for the group i was with. every time i wanted a drink i ended up walking through the whole restaurant trying to findstaffto serve me. even after that i ended up waiting 5 minutes for the drinks to turn up. i then found out at the end of the brunch that i was able to go to the curry house next door and take food from there, this was about half an hour before the brunch actually ended. the brunch wasn't worth the price i paid. i've been to better ones for half the price.

visited choices for an iftar buffet and it was great. good selection of food, the mandi was just awesome. the ambiance and attention fromstaffwas amazing. very comfy sofa-style chairs and we got a big round table for the whole family. juices and drinks included in the buffet which is a big plus.

excellent value for money. this buffet is much better than some of the premium priced buffets out there. will certainly visit again!

the place is good and very courteousstaffbut not too many dishes and the variety of food is very less ... price is high as compared to the number of dishes served ...

a delicious start of the day, the food was good and quality was not compromised. i was a walk-in customer with my family and restaurant was quiet busy, i was greeted by avie, she managed to arrange me a table in no time, ambiance is comfy andstaffwas helpful and offers good customer service. the best part of this restaurant was the egg counter, where you can customize it according to your taste palette, for me and my family, the variety of dishes was just fine, but the addition of fresh juices and improved coffee menu would be great.

choices is an all day dining eatery in yas rotana, i had their dinner buffets. the ambiance is perfect andstaffattentive, the food also tasted fine. the spread wasn't very impressive though, specially the mains. choices lack choices.

ramadan timings: it is open daily. for iftar specifically it starts from 7pm-10pm.

main part:

the moment i entered their premises, i felt welcomed right away. wonderful staffs to accommodate us and lead us to our seats. the interior design and table set-up are perfect for the ramadan theme. it’s very appealing and inviting.

as you can notice on the above image, the basic necessities ( dates & water) for breaking your fasting is placed already on the table.

you’ll be enjoying the handpicked choices of arabic specialities in their buffet. it’s divided into sections according to food categories. such as the main course, food finger foods, salad, bread, drinks, nuts & of course my favourite section, the dessert.

there were several delectable arabic dishes prepared for the guests. i’ve tasted few of them which are as follows:

– lamb harees – which is one of the famous ramadan dishes. it’s a mix of coarsely ground wheat and meat with a finishing touch of olive oil around it. the consistency is almost like of a porridge. it’s not on my expected taste though, it’s on a medium level taste. can’t find the taste of lamb in it that much and the presence of olive oil on it is not enough.

– seafood biryani – not a spicy kind of biryani. kids can eat this too. i was able to scoop with the shrimp portion. i enjoyed this one because i love seafoods. taste is great and flavoursome.

– lamb biryani – not a spicy kind of biryani too. which ok for me since i can feed our son with it. the flavour of the lamb won’t separate on the rice. it’s flavour is stemming on the rice itself. however the lamb is not that juicy. although the meat is tender i find it a bit dry.

– mix grill – meat is tender and the flavour is flowing with its juiciness.

– dawood basha – is an arabic meatballs in tomato sauce. i’ll prefer to have this on a plain rice.

– shish barak – is a most likely similar to ravioli. tiny meat of dumplings cooked in the plain yoghurt. the flavour of the dumplings are brimming in the intense flavour of the cooked yoghurt.

– vermicelli rice – if you’re looking for something sweet rice, this is it!

there were around 6 kinds of ramadan beverages on a table. such as tamarind, hibiscus, yoghurt, apricot, etc. the salad section is overflowing with fresh vegetables that you can choose from. by the way, there’s the pickle section too! this is really a complete variety of foods.

i’ve tried some of their dessert and oh boy! even if i want to have them all my tummy says stop! already. what can i do? it’s a mix of arabic and international sweets were there.

after all these mixed in your tummy, you can request for an arabic coffee or tea. all these are inclusive to a price of 165aed.

a lot of people come here and even after iftar people keep on coming in! it’s a recommended place, a family-friendly one.

v were here for dinner on the asian theme. and man, the food is so amazing. the variety was awesome. more than the food, the hospitality of thestaffwas out of the world. it was my daughters birthday and the moment one of thestaffcame to know, all of them came with the cake to make my daughter feel special. thank you so much guys.
