chikoko rises from a humble family establishment to a well-known local eatery for korean fried chicken. chikoko is famous for crunchy chicken skin and juicy meat, and is a perfect combination with pickled radish and soju. the order takes time, but it is worth the wait. besides fried chicken, you can enjoy jumeokbap (seaweed rice balls),ramenwith tteokbokki (rice cake), bibimbap (rice bowl), etc.

when chikoko first opened, the service used to be friendly and attentive. the chicken came with a very good portion and price. most importantly, the flavours were superior.

chikoko, a newly emerged egotistical celebrity, is now less likeable. the pricing increased but the food quality declined. suddenly portion was much more humble. on one occasion, we visited the restaurant at 8 pm and was informed by the staff that the kitchen would close in 15 minutes. as regulars, we ordered straight away after being seated at our tables, and to our surprise, that very same staff informed us that “the kitchen is now closed”. mind you, the closing time is 9 pm. honestly, if you cannot commit to doing business properly, then don’t bother accepting customers.

it used to be excellent, but now it is okay.

p.s. home delivery is available but cash only

⭐️ the tteokbokki dumpling was too spicy but the dumplings was crispy and very good.
⭐️ worth the price.
⭐️ the interior is small but lovely and cute
⭐️ clean with not that many tables to eat at.
⭐️ very friendly staff workers
⭐️ location is far from station near the rivers retail store locating itself almost outside the hurstville main shopping area.

it was ok, an average ok.

food and service were all mediocre, no compliments no complaints either.

chicken would probably be the best thing here but the tteokbokki +ramenwere interesting and had a warm home-cooking feeling to it.

i would go here if i didn’t feel like making a commute elsewhere for korean food.

a new korean fried chicken restaurant in hurstville. the shop is not very big. limited seatings are available. take away is also a popular choice.

the flavor for either bone or boneless chicken is almost the same.

[chi koko fried chicken] $18
their signature fried chicken. i believe that the original taste is the best and no more sauce needed for this. thick skin, tender chicken, very great😀

[soy koko] $18
soy koko adds a bit soy sauce to it and is slightly different from the original one. it’s a bit more salty but still great.

[ramen with pork belly] $9
it’s more than a side dish than main. theramencomes in a small copper bowl. it looks pretty spicy but indeed it isn’t. the pork belly is rather the same as the one i’ve seen in the hot pot shops.

everyone is so friendly, service is a little slow and the ambience of the restaurant is really nice. the mad red koko was quite nice, nice portion and delicious. it didn't really strike a large impression on me though. i came in for theramenbecause i like how they present it. would come back again. it was delicious.

just 3 weeks old, this restaurant is becoming a must place to visit in hurstville.  just along the forest road, its not difficult to locate, although it could use a little lighting outside so you could see the name of the restaurant.

we arrived around 6:45 pm, but the place is not yet packed.  once inside we were welcomed by the staff and asked if we will be dining in or take away.  since there were still a lot of vacant tables i suggested near the window but suggested the ones by the wall.  the reason being the floor has a slope not good for the bub.  isn't that nice?  i rarely see staff being attentive to their customers.  anyway, ambiance and staff was already winning me.

for the food, we ordered half chi koko boneless fried chicken, half boneless red koko, pork bellyramenand steam rice.  ourramenarrived first, then the rice followed by the chicken.  theramensmelled funky according to the husband when it was served but.....yes...but it was good and he slurped it all the way to dry land.  the chicken was an absolute hit.  it was crunchy and tasty on the outside and the meat inside was juicy.  the bub enjoyed it very much.  the red koko was sweet with a hint of chili.  theramenon the other hand was spicier.  but the overwhelmingly so.  it was the perfect burn.  the bub even had three refills.  and the size was good enough for two to share.

i have nothing but good praise for this shop.  oh, i hope the serving size could go a bit bigger.  the one with korean fried chicken in strathfield serves almost the same menu and rate but more serving.  other than that it was a good meal.  total wallet damage for the meal was $62.  must must visit again.

actual rating 3.5/5

located in a moderately spaced store, chi koko was packed on our saturday night feed. there was extreme understaffing, as we were left waiting by the door with other patrons as empty tables remained unattended.
food wise, there is a decent selection of boned and boneless fried chicken, as well as other popular korean dishes such as ramen, mandoo, and tteokbokki.
we ordered the cheezling koko(only came in a whole size), mad red koko andramentteokbokki.
the cheezling koko was delicious- highly recommend! the mad red koko was nice and not as spicy as one would expect from the name. theramentteokbokki however, was cooked too soft for my liking.
there was only one side dish given, a small portion of picked radish which was difficult to refill due to the understaffing issue.
overall, i would recommend checking it out if you’re in the area, but maybe try to avoid peak times or hope that chi koko hires more staff.
