chikoko rises from a humble family establishment to a well-known local eatery for korean fried chicken. chikoko is famous for crunchy chicken skin andjuicymeat, and is a perfect combination with pickled radish and soju. the order takes time, but it is worth the wait. besides fried chicken, you can enjoy jumeokbap (seaweed rice balls), ramen with tteokbokki (rice cake), bibimbap (rice bowl), etc.

when chikoko first opened, the service used to be friendly and attentive. the chicken came with a very good portion and price. most importantly, the flavours were superior.

chikoko, a newly emerged egotistical celebrity, is now less likeable. the pricing increased but the food quality declined. suddenly portion was much more humble. on one occasion, we visited the restaurant at 8 pm and was informed by the staff that the kitchen would close in 15 minutes. as regulars, we ordered straight away after being seated at our tables, and to our surprise, that very same staff informed us that “the kitchen is now closed”. mind you, the closing time is 9 pm. honestly, if you cannot commit to doing business properly, then don’t bother accepting customers.

it used to be excellent, but now it is okay.

p.s. home delivery is available but cash only

i've been here with my girl friend for lunch. we only ordered half of mad red koko but the portion was huge enough for 2 of us. i don't eat a lot of spicy food but this was not as spicy as the menu indicate. the chicken is crispy andjuicyand the flavour is very authentic. highly recommend it to others.

this is a pretty good place for korean fried chicken in hurstville. we had the original fried chicken which was good (crispy batter andjuicychicken) and ramen which was okay as well (probably better to get it with cheese or rice cakes next time). happy to come back to try their other fried chicken flavours!!

got take away from this place. was still warm and crunchy by the time i got home. the original chicken was well seasoned, the skin crispy and the meatjuicyand tender. i tried with all three sauces but thought that the seasoning itself tastes better than the sauces. also had the soy boneless half chicken. decent amount of tender chicken, again crispy, and the sauce was pretty good, sticky and sweet. unfortunately, i didn't get to try the pickled turnip as there was a fly happily attached to a piece as can be seen in the photo. however, i honestly don't know whether the fly was already in there or whether it had flown in when i returned home and landed on the turnip when i opened the lid (i must admit i was looking at something else when i opened the lid). i tried to shoo the fly away before taking a photo, but it wouldn't budge so i guess it found the pickle really tasty...

came here with a group of friends and was pleased with the service, however food was not my fav.

first impressions: good service however would not let us bring our drinks in or have it out. (couldn't even drink my own water!! perhaps it is a health regulation thing? didn't really mind though.)

food: ordered the fried chicken and the tteokbokki+fried chicken. the soup base/sauce flavouring wasn't as tasty as i'd hoped, however the other friends thought it tasted amazing so perhaps it was just my palate liking. rice cakes were good, fried chicken was amazing and not greasy, was also perfectlyjuicyand tender. price was decent for the portions!

overall decent korean food, would recommend fried chicken over tteokbokki!

hurstville’s brand new and only* - korean fried chicken restaurant. reviewing fresh off its grand opening it delivers exactly what korean fried chicken is ; fresh, juicy, succulent and crispy without feeling weighed down by frying oil. the chicken is the best korean fried chicken i’ve had to date, better than arisun which is a big claim. the chicken is really the star and the care taken that each morsel of chicken an experience for the senses is clearly evident.

food;
red koko - fab fried chicken with slightly spicy red sauce. not enough sauce for my liking but can always ask for more sauce
sweet soy koko- same as ^ highly recommend
boneless cheezling koko - unlike other places that usually make this type of chicken dish dry and really unpleasant to eat, chi koko adds a clear and distinct parmesan taste that comes through delightfully
noodle tteokbokki- a stable korean dish done properly
dumplings - ajuicyand meaty experience with crush bonito flakes adding almost a takoyaki like experience
rice balls- a bit on the dry side, but can easily be rectified with some extra kewpie mayo. otherwise another standard korean dish done alright
steamed eggs - perfect. better than others due to a stronger depth of flavour coming from some pieces of beef and garlic

service
being a family owned restaurant the staff is relatively small, being that the staff consists of the mum cooking the chicken in the back and daughters and nieces serving. that being said the service is slow due to the amount of staff, but servers and service made the experience overall was very nice

ambience
a nice and cosy restaurant, relatively small but was told they would increase capacity.

highly recommend/10
