not knocking the quality of the food here but the prices are really high. tonight, i used the menu on the zomato's app to place a to go order. i kept a running total in my head based on these menu prices and figured my order should be about $35. when my wife went to pick it up it was $52.

went on a busy friday night. wait time was 1 hour and 45 minutes. it didn't actually take that long. the tamales were excellent and so were the chicken fingers. will definitely be back, jut not on a friday night.

great server. the food was good and our server, eve was excellent. our original order was misplaced on another table and when another server (other than eve) delivered our order (which was incorrect) she was very rude and disconnected. eve immediately came over and diffused the situation making the rest of our meal/experience a delight. if it was not for eve being a server in this establishment we would not come back.

very good chicken. it is what everyone says. chicken has a little bit of a kick to it - not much but enough. beans and cole slaw are good side items.

40's and a coozie to fit? and great chicken to boot!
my family is from mississippi and i can say this is the real deal. haven't been to lamars yet, but this is the best fried chicken i have had in town thus far.

stolen. this place stole their chicken theme and recipe from a place a couple of blocks up called lamar's. if you want to experience true chicken and stiff drinks lamar's is where its at. this place is nothing but a zerox that sells 40 oz beers of all things.

awesome cheekun!. we heard all the buzz from friends, family and here about how great champy's was and had to try it. everyone is right!

we were surprised how busy it was for a late saturday afternoon (about 4:30). the place was packed! however we were quickly seated and our orders taken. i had to try the fried livers (if a place can get those right they get everything right), my wife got the 2 piece white meat plate, and an appetizer of pickled fried green tomatoes.

the tomatoes weren't exactly to our liking as the pickling is a sort of bread-and-butter sweet version, which neither of us loves, but neither of us considered when we ordered. they weren't unpalatable, just not expected, but they were prepared nicely with the crust being crunchy.

the fried chicken and livers were both fantastic, and my wife actually got 3 pieces instead of 2. the server told her just keep the extra chicken no charge. it was a mountain of food. the sides were also great (there is a bit of an upcharge for changing your sides from the usual beans and cole slaw) and our drinks stayed topped off.

champy's is not just a great meal for a good price, it's worth a special trip.

awesome chicken and awesome everything else. not much to say about champys other than it's a great place to eat and have a beverage. fun atmosphere with friendly staff. some of the best chicken anywhere and the crawfish are tasty as well!

fried chicken like it is supposed to be!. for those of you familiar with atlanta, it is like chicken from the pickrick in atlanta during the 50's or bob's dairy barn in roswell during the 70's.

power to the "forty and fowl".

visited again on sunday 9/11/2011 to try the tamales. wow - the excellence continues!
visited again on monday 6/15/2015. the liver plate was awesome!

i give this place a five on the chicken alone. it is about dead solid perfect. flaky skin but not greasy. i personally recommend all thighs as the breasts were just not quite as incredible and the dark meat. of the top 5 fried chickens i’ve had in my life. the fried green tomatoes were top 3. just perfect. only issue were the tamales which i thought were simply paired with wrong red sauce. like a typical enchilada sauce rather than a red burrito sauce. i really was not a fan. but every other bite... including the sweet tea made up for it.

service could have been better but the food was good. atmosphere was not our kind of dinning but it’s about the food, the food was well worth the trip.

worth the wait in line for this delicious fried chicken. dark meat was outstanding. service was good but the dining area might have been less bar-like. still, small price to pay for really good fried chicken. would definitely visit again.
