champy's famous fried chicken

wonderful. fried whole chicken is battered perfectly which sends a spicy heat to the back of the tongue. the chicken is cooked to prefection. the atmospher is so layed back with blues music playing in the backround. the tamales are so good you have to get them. i have a hard time choosing etween the two. the lemon ice box pie is as good as mine.

best fried chicken, ever! atmosphere is cool mississippi tamale shack sheik:) wait staff very quick and friendly. good for family or having beers with the fellas.

chicken is off the chain and the tamales oh ooo la la.

good eats. we did not go to the one in tn we have one that just opened up here in sheffield al. the service was very good and helpful. the food was very good we will be going back soon.

40's and fowl. whats not to love. fried chicken is great, really will fill you up the sides are spectacular and the atmosphere is great for familys and the young generation. the wait staff is friendly and attentive.

southern fried greatness. i don't like bone-in fried chicken...i'll be honest, mainly because i'm lazy.

champy's is the exception. i was thoroughly surprised at how much i loved their chicken. great atmosphere, great prices, the services was mediocre, but not bad enough to make my mouth stop watering when i think about this place.

great atmosphere. friendly, helpful staff. tamales were delicious. sides were tasty. chicken was ... did mention the great atmosphere? was hoping for something on the level of gus world famous in memphis, soon to be coming to nashville or price's in charlotte but sadly i didn't even think it was as good as the virginia diner.

the best. you aren't going to find better fried chicken in chattanooga! that's it plain and simple. the food can take a while to come out, but only because it's cooked fresh to order. great patio and atmosphere as well!

really good chicken! i love buffalo sauce, and this place does it right. pleasantly seedy atmosphere and friendly service. plan on a week of salads and tofu after indulging at champy's. i plan on returning during my next trip to chattenooga.

i finally tried champys. i've hear quite a lot about them for a few years now, and finally went last week. it was everything that i hoped it would be. the chicken was killer, and portions big enough to feed a family. i will definitely be going back.

these folks know chicken. my wife and i decided to visit champy's for the first time on friday, 06/01/2012. i must say, it was very confusing when it came to figuring out how to get a seat around that place. there was no hostess on duty, so i had to add my name to the list at the bar. for what was to come, the 10-15 minutes wait was a very small price to pay. once seated, our server was nothing short of perfect. the place was packed, but the way she was able to multitask and keep all of her tables taken care of was truly something only the best servers could have done. bravo!!! everything at champy's is cooked to order. no worries here about your food dying in the pass waiting to be picked up by a server. they might as well had brought the vat of grease to me and wife with a pair of tongs and said, "here, pick out your chicken." it was fresh and smokin' hot! the plus.......not greasy at all! the seasoned coating is tasty and well balanced in flavor. the sides are not all that, but champy's is not in business for their sides (they are simply filler). the star of the show is the chicken....and it is some damn good chicken if i may say so myself. next up from the menu when we visit again is chicken on a stick (portions of fried boneless chicken breast, skewered with fried potatoes and onion)....a bessie smith strut favorite. remember: let food be fun!

i'm a bit impartial. it definitely is an atmosphere all of its own... but i don't think it was worth the two hours we had to wait....not to mention the hour it took to get a chicken fingers basket. i'll go back if my friends want to go...but if i never went again i would live.

very slow service especially considering they only have basically one menu item! they do have good fried chicken though.

not the champ. so the wife and i ventured to champys for date nite and the chicken. it was packed with the final four on. unfortunately, the waitress (morgan) was hot but the chicken not so much. pretty much had no taste with a large hint of old grease. this must be why almost everybody was drinking 40s. the beans were good, but as far the food goes that was about it. i have had better kfc.

fried and true. fun mix of college students and families (like us) and great decor. the fried chicken arrived quickly, and was piping hot. wow, how can we court-martial the colonel? it is cheaper to feed a family of 4 here, and the quality is sooooo much better..crispy, hot, and meaty chicken! truly looks like a joint inside and out,but the service and food were great.
