came for brunch and had a fantastic experience, servicewas great with staff explaining each dish and the wait if you ordered the oldskool newskool salmon. the passion that went into each dish was evident and the staff very friendly, giving us free coffee for our wait. we really enjoyed our experience and will return to try more dishes.

went here for brunch late saturday morning, it's a cute little cafe serving food you don't normally expect from a cafe. first up, the positives. i had the oldskool newskool salmon which plated like a fine dining dish and tasted quite fancy for a brunch dish with their beetroot yoghurt and black garlic mayonnaise. with something so pretty, i have nothing to complain about aside possibly wanting more toasts to go with it. unfortunately, there were let downs, the ham benny was way too salty to a point that i can't taste anything but salt, and with that in mind, the price tag on a salty egg benedict that left a bitter after taste does seem steep. having said that, the 2 ladies sitting next to us both had the ham benny and seem to be munching them down ok, so perhaps mine was just an accident. lastly, given the store name had 'coffee' in it, i did expect a good one but the coffee was just average and was served luke warm and with too much foam. to end on a positive note though, customerservicewas excellent. as i had the salmon dish, i would recommend people to try base on that, but other than that i am not too keen to return any time soon personally.

i enjoyed cavalier so much, from theserviceto the actual dishes. their menu wasn’t too big, so it really showed they did each dish really well. the beef cheeks were super tender and the flavour of the smoked potato was amazing which pair perfectly. the whole dish was delicious packed full of flavour but with the portion size, it was a good size.

the toasties - i ordered the bolognese and the lamb, cavalier really so their toasties well and it is their speciality after all. the fillings were super moist but the bread remained really crispy. it can be a quick snack or to sit down and enjoy.

finally, the dessert really hit the spot. the textures and flavour was irreplaceable as the dulce was not too strong but i really recommend sharing the french toast with 1 or 2 other people as it’s quite sweet.

theservicewas great, i couldn’t fault it as they staff were quite attentive even when we were sitting outside and we didn’t have to wait long for our dishes!

excellentservicebut food was terrible. we drove all the way from parramatta to st leonard’s because the photos on zomata were great. however when we sat down and looked at their menu we only have limited options as the photos on zomato were ‘special menu’.

it turned out the food potion was ridiculously small and they don’t worth $15+ at all. my partner ordered an ice latte and they told us they have no ice only when they put it on our table. if you don’t have something that is on the menu you should have told the customer when they ordered the food/drinks so that they can order something else.
the ice latte in warm temperature is very weird.

it’s quite disappointing as we drove such a long way and felt like we ate nothing.

let me start by complimenting how goodserviceis here, well done. in this day in age, cafes are just rushed experience. i felt like i was dining at a five-star restaurant.
first of the bat, special of the day. mozerella cheese torched, with little tangy cherry tomato salad. pure genius. it's light and really flavorsome.
then there's the iconic salmon dish, cooked to perfection. sauces and garnish just works, a clear 5/5. something you would normally see at a five-star restaurant charging $45 dollars.
ham and eggs benedict, 4/5 great balanced dish. just works no complaints.
coffee was great, i had to order another.

headed to cavalier for a truffle breakfast! they are currently serving amazing dishes and drinks with truffles from madame truffles.

we had the following:
- macaroni and cheese with mushroom duxelles, snowy grana padano finished with organic egg yolk
- cheeky jaffle with truffles
- truffle benny
- truffle mocha (first drink with truffles in it!)
the only thing that didn't have any truffles are the coffees 😂

i loved the dishes especially the truffle mocha. we actually swap the jaffle with the macaroni during order but the kitchen made it mistakenly. we took it anyway as i wanted to try the jaffle. cavalier decided to give us complimentary truffles on them. so nice and thoughtful. friendlyserviceand lovely people! need to visit for those in the area!

off the main strip of crows nest, and really not a big space, but it was weekday lunch so easy enough to get a spot. short yet interesting menu, there were a number of things i wanted to try, but i could not get pass the creme caramel french toast. a bit odd looking when it came out, you can hardly see the "toast" under the cloud of cream on top. it was all deconstructed with the two type of cream on top, the toast & a warm caramel sauce on the bottom. the toast was nice & crispy on the outside, but still fluffy (you can still see the whiteness) inside. the best bit was the hidden marmalade under all that cream! theservicewas friendly & quick. the coffee was pretty good too. will definitely be back!

went here for brunch and we ordered basically everything on the brunch menu to share. best dishes: mac and cheese (we added truffle on top, yum!), beef cheeks, tiramisu french toast and the crab dish. beautiful presentation, great flavours and balance of textures. i also ordered the truffle mocha which was sweet and salty with a hint of truffle (and topped with truffle), i thought it worked really well and it complemented the tiramisu french toast, i loved it!

customerservicewas also so lovely. will definitely return and recommend to all foodie friends!

great coffee, friendly and professional service, and really really nice food. we had a tradie roll and the tiramisu french toast, it was definitely one of the best cafe food we ever had in sydney! small and a quite down to earth deco but has a good vibe to it, doesn't have high chairs which is expected as it's probably not catering for young kids considering its space. however, highly recommend it if you want a nice brunch with great coffee andservicein crows nest.

cute small place that seats about 20ppl.

we went on a weekday so we had no issues with being seated.

we ordered the oldskool newskool salmon and english trifle fenchtoast.

the salmon dish is plated very pretty, something you would normally only see in fine dining restaurants. it was nice but not as wow as i had hoped.

the frenchtoast was nice, not to sweet. it looks like a heavy dish but shared between 2 is fine.

i have to say theservicewas very good.

definitely worth trying.

pretty nice cafe and the coffee is excellent

the salmon with caviar is a bit pricy and nice to look at. however taste wise its not extraordinary and pretty standard

the ham benny is really good though and love the hollandaise sauce

a bit of a long line so come early andserviceis a bit slow but quite good in terms of politeness

the last time i experienced a swanky breakfast was at the grand harbour hotel in hong kong where their inclusive breakfast incredibly included lobster benedict and fluffy french toast with a thin coating of toffee. bring on the view of hong kong harbour as the backdrop and it was pretty hard to top. cavalier comes awfully close.

being a specialist coffee cafe, we were recommended the special brew experience where the waiter would bring out a special variety of single origin beans and describe the product all while being filtered and weighed on a scale at the table. they pride themselves on beans from marvel street coffee roasters from byron bay where its all about the best variety of beans at the time of year over anything else. the rowandan coffee was described as a light coffee with a cherry finish of the back palate perfect for the afternoon. true to form, the coffee served black, was smooth and reflected a cherry aftertaste and something different to your run of the mill bean.

the signature dish here at cavalier (oldskool newskool salmon) was no surprise to me having been shared on instagram many many times as was the price. a visit was just a matter of time like many sydneysiders who have them on their 'to do list' but figured the expectation was never going to be exceeded after so much has been said about them or this dish. the dish really cannot be faulted as every element had a purpose and so meticulously crafted it tasted as good as it looked. you almost felt that your tastebuds were not ready for such a refined experience at that time of day. there is no doubt this is fine dining material with an insane price to match ($20) but whether it has its place as a regular breakfast item i would go back for is questionable as its not very filling for $20 (yes i sound ungrateful).

there was a new autumn salad with cous cous garden greens on a bed of white sweet potato puree with some sort of crispy grains to add that crunch contrast. we added an extra of poached chicken and the course was complete.

we sat on the table closest to the opened french doors and really the only complaint was the dreaded fly who wouldn't leave me alone. theservicewas excellent and the food impeccable. with the well deserved recognition it has earned, i think they should really seek out a bigger and more comfortable establishment to showcase the chefs talent and potential.
