cavalier specialty coffee’s menu always surprises you and always top quality, never disappointed. i’ve already forgotten the name of this dish. this bowl is a mixture of cheese, soy and fish roe which tastes sogoodand everything is so balanced. food presentation leads to a more enjoyable meal too.

went here for brunch late saturday morning, it's a cute little cafe serving food you don't normally expect from a cafe. first up, the positives. i had the oldskool newskool salmon which plated like a fine dining dish and tasted quite fancy for a brunch dish with their beetroot yoghurt and black garlic mayonnaise. with something so pretty, i have nothing to complain about aside possibly wanting more toasts to go with it. unfortunately, there were let downs, the ham benny was way too salty to a point that i can't taste anything but salt, and with that in mind, the price tag on a salty egg benedict that left a bitter after taste does seem steep. having said that, the 2 ladies sitting next to us both had the ham benny and seem to be munching them down ok, so perhaps mine was just an accident. lastly, given the store name had 'coffee' in it, i did expect agoodone but the coffee was just average and was served luke warm and with too much foam. to end on a positive note though, customer service was excellent. as i had the salmon dish, i would recommend people to try base on that, but other than that i am not too keen to return any time soon personally.

i enjoyed cavalier so much, from the service to the actual dishes. their menu wasn’t too big, so it really showed they did each dish really well. the beef cheeks were super tender and the flavour of the smoked potato was amazing which pair perfectly. the whole dish was delicious packed full of flavour but with the portion size, it was agoodsize.

the toasties - i ordered the bolognese and the lamb, cavalier really so their toasties well and it is their speciality after all. the fillings were super moist but the bread remained really crispy. it can be a quick snack or to sit down and enjoy.

finally, the dessert really hit the spot. the textures and flavour was irreplaceable as the dulce was not too strong but i really recommend sharing the french toast with 1 or 2 other people as it’s quite sweet.

the service was great, i couldn’t fault it as they staff were quite attentive even when we were sitting outside and we didn’t have to wait long for our dishes!

i came here midweek at lunch hour and was surprised to find cavalier wasn't too busy. we ordered the heroes sandwich, tiramisu, and burrata & tomatoes. all were super tasty, although, on the smaller side in terms of portioning. the passionfruit in the tiramisu is such a unique twist! the biggest downside was probably the iced coffee, which was quite watery. the biggest win for me, tying with thegoodfood was the service; all the staff were super friendly and chatty. will 100% return

came here on saturday and there were not many people
we ordered cappuccino and hot chocolate. the standard cup size is really small. i finished my coffee before the food came. coffee wasgoodanyway.
i came here for the tiramisu since not so many cafes have tiramisu on their brunch menus. i was surprised that there was passion fruit in the tiramisu. i felt it ruined the whole dish. why would anyone put passion fruit in tiramisu?? maybe it’s just me but i really don’t like it.
the tradie roll was disappointing so as the labneh spread with rye. i am sure i won’t come back.

as a local, i've been going to cavalier since it opened on oxley street. the coffee is great and my favourite is still the chicken salad. what i really enjoyed about the original location is the vibe. it had a very trendy melbournesque feel to the original location. the combination of timber-copper bespoke furnishing, the dim lighting, and hole-in-the-wall atmosphere created the right note of casual chic.

now at its new premise just around the corner, there is still the samegoodfood, great coffee and friendly staff. unfortunately, it has lost somewhat the trendy appeal to the place. what was a hip establishment now feels more like a hip replacement.

i didn't like the generic furnishing and the artificial plants hanging off the exposed air-ducts. it had a 80s aesthetic that was wrong on many levels. the echo-chamber of the premise also made the dining experience feel like a school canteen.. especially with a screaming kid contributing to that authenticity.

cavalier 2.0 is like a windows vista upgrade from xp. everything about the guts of it is the same, yet different. can we quickly move on to move on to windows 10 before the local customers switch to a mac? please please please re-do the interior deco to bring back the vibe that made the original cavalier so great and much loved.

reallygoodcoffee, unique cafe food, rotational menu with some staples. very tasty rendition of a chicken salad, the toasties are always hearty although perhaps a bit too artery-clogging.

i’m not an early person so i never knew that there’s a popular cafe nearby! bought coffee takeaway & a croissant on the weekend- coffee was prettygood(i’m not sure who’s their coffee bean supplier tho)
the croissant was flaky & crispy. the staff members were bubbly & friendly : ) and it’s open on sunday!

coffee wasgoodand its not easy to get mocha that is not too sweet. theirs had agoodbalance of the chocolate and coffee. i ordered for the poached chicken open salad and it was really nice. i could easily order it again. my partner ordered for the chia and he liked it too, a bit of a warning though, it was a really very small serving.

let me start by complimenting howgoodservice is here, well done. in this day in age, cafes are just rushed experience. i felt like i was dining at a five-star restaurant.
first of the bat, special of the day. mozerella cheese torched, with little tangy cherry tomato salad. pure genius. it's light and really flavorsome.
then there's the iconic salmon dish, cooked to perfection. sauces and garnish just works, a clear 5/5. something you would normally see at a five-star restaurant charging $45 dollars.
ham and eggs benedict, 4/5 great balanced dish. just works no complaints.
coffee was great, i had to order another.

another likely contender to receive a 5 from us...

besides the wait, we couldn't really fault much from this place and even something as mundane as pumpkin dip with rye bread made us very inquisitive.

each dish has just the right amount of creativity to keep things interesting but yet familiar enough not to be too alienating. this is perhaps one of the top cafes that sydney has to offer and if you haven't been here then...are you even a foodie?

we'll be back to see if their really thatgood:)

food was alright and a little overpriced but i guess food around that area are similar price.

me and my friends got tiramisu french toast, macaroni cheese, beef brisket and benny's something which i forgot the name of. all are quite nice and unique.

service wasgoodbecause they had very friendly staff :)

it got a bit stuffy inside after a while and seating is a little squishy.

overall not bad.

off the main strip of crows nest, and really not a big space, but it was weekday lunch so easy enough to get a spot. short yet interesting menu, there were a number of things i wanted to try, but i could not get pass the creme caramel french toast. a bit odd looking when it came out, you can hardly see the "toast" under the cloud of cream on top. it was all deconstructed with the two type of cream on top, the toast & a warm caramel sauce on the bottom. the toast was nice & crispy on the outside, but still fluffy (you can still see the whiteness) inside. the best bit was the hidden marmalade under all that cream! the service was friendly & quick. the coffee was prettygoodtoo. will definitely be back!
