terrible experience!. my husband bought me a cake fromcarlo'sbakery to celebrate my 50th birthday. he ordered the cake in advance via telephone with a cake consultant. i had once had a chocolate cupcake with fudge frosting fromcarlo'sbakery which i loved.. my husband ordered chocolate cake with cannoli filling and the chocolate fudge frosting. he also asked for lots of roses to be put on the cake. the cake was 1/2 a sheet cake and he was quoted a price of $110. my husband said the consultant had difficulty taking the order and was talking about his upcoming vacation. fast forward to my birthday. my husband drove 2 hours to pick up the cake. the cake had vanilla buttercream frosting and 4 roses! he complained and they did add a few more roses, but the frosting was wrong. he had to call the ordering department and all anyone says is i have to talk to my boss. today he was told they had to talk to angelo about the cake. fyi a 1/2 sheet cake pricing begins at $85, so obviously we were ripped off. my party was yesterday and he had no choice other than to take the cake that was marked as being our order. my husband drove 2 hours home. the cake was the worst tasting cake i ever had. in fact, only 1 guest liked the cake. i had been so looking forward to my 50th birthday cake from buddy. it was a huge disappointment. i think perhaps buddy needs to take more care of his own bakery. it is a joke that he has a show where he travels around the country fixing other people's bakeries. buddy, you need to stay at home and pay attention to the quality of your own bakery. we will never again go tocarlo'sbakery and i caution others' who plan to order a celebration cake from the bakery. it's definitely not worth the hype. the cakes i've had from grocery stores, even walmart, are better than this!

cake. i decided to get my boyfriend's birthday cake from here, specially made. i went there to go over what i wanted on the cake and what kind of cake i would like it to be. the staff was very friendly and drew up exactly what i had in my head. i was nervous to pick it up to see how they transformed the design into the real thing. i couldn't be happier! it surpassed all expectations! definitely coming back here for many more cakes!

sweet treats. when i went to hoboken i knew i had to try the famouscarlo'sbakery. i expected a lot, but i was worried that they wouldn't meet my high expectations. fortunately, they met my expectations and much more. from the family environment to the tasty pastries, i was very happy with my experience there and will definitely be going back.

go there if you like the show...otherwise, not really.. i made a trip to nyc to see some friends. i absolutely wanted to go all the way to hoboken forcarlo'sbakery. the quality was ok. lobster tail was my favorite and the regular cannoli where quite good. crumb cake was very ordinary. the pine nut tartelette was good. the cupcakes and cookies were ok. i did go there fresh off a night bus so the line was small. aside from the show, the food is quite regular and pricey, so i wouldn't go there if i didn't like the show. but if you do go, get a lobster tail.

who does not know the cake boss, buddy valastro? his show on tv is very popular and there is always a very long line in front of his bakery in hoboken, new jersey. but know that if you live in hoboken, you can skip the line: just show an id that proves you are living there. my first experience withcarlo'sbakery was so so: couple of years ago, i bought a cannoli and did not like it. i thought at that time that it might have been because i did not eat it right away and put it in the refrigerator for few hours. then, one of my colleagues brought a tiramisu and a chocolate cake at work: i loved the tiramisu but the chocolate cake was way too sweet. so we decided to try again. the cake boss is known for his insane cakes that he is building on his show. for sure they look spectacular, but i am not sure they taste that good considering the amount of fondant and rice crispy treat he puts in it.  when we were there, it was packed! the problem is that we could not go around and look at the cak

most wonderful experience. "a "plus ++++++ ! my family and i went to ny for a family vacation. we love the cake boss show and we also own an italian restaurant where we live in californian....my daughters and i made a wish list of places and things we wanted to do in ny. top 5 on all of our list was to visit hoboken and eat atcarlo'sbakery. we took the path and waited 2 hours in the hot august sun. when it was finally our turn, we were greeted by the most enthusiastic and patient young man, which soon learned his name was , alex johnson. he was so kind, as he explained each dessert so exquisitely ! we were so impressed and all of us agreed we would be so amazingly lucky if our employees were so caring. not to mention i spent $200.00. what a lovely place! we were also fortunate enough to see the boss himself and his beautiful wife! thank you! i understand filming is underway! we learned from alex his dream is to be an actor! i will testify to the fact he would be an asset on your show! i own 2 businesses! so proud of you all! as a business owner and in this failing economy - you are kicking butt! you have inspired me to do more! thank you

i have been fortunate enough to try a cake from a friend that was made bycarlo'sbakery. it was mediocre. the fondant was good (since i love sugar) but it also tasted like "bubble gum that you swallow." also, recently, i found out that the fondant is not fresh and factory made. i found this out on next great baker. the filling was probably the best part. the sponge (or the cake) was okay. it is impossible to make all ofcarlo'sbakery's cakes fresh because they are mass-produced. if they were fresh, this review would be more positive than negative. overall, its a cake, and i like cake. if you are looking for a fantastic cake that you don't have to stand on line for and hour(s) for, go to sorrento bakery in east hanover, nj. this is definetly the best bakery, perhaps, in all of new jersey.

love the show, love the family, love the place, hate the food!. i first visitedcarlo's2 years ago and fell in love... delicious pastries, no lines, tables inside to sit at, and very reasonable prices. however, i returned to visit last month, and was absolutely horrified... even though the line down the sidewalk was an hour, and then the wait inside the store was another hour, i would have been able to deal with that if it weren't for the fact that most of the food was disgusting, some was tolerable, and only one item was good. we spent $86 on cream puffs, napoleans, cannolis, a chocolate mousse pastry, cupcakes, a crumb cake, and a cannoli cake. the pastry cream inside the cream puff was hard and rubbery and tasted like fish... completely inedible and went right in the garbage, the cannolis were tolerable, but really had no flavor whatsoever, the napoleans lacked flavor also but faintly tasted like lemon (a traditional napolean should be vanilla), the cupcakes were average, the crumb cake was very dry, the cannoli cake ($26!!) was flavorless. the only thing that really was good was a very small chocolate mousse pastry. everything else ended up in the garbage. conclusion: overpriced, underflavored, and not worth the wait. what a shame... they used to be awesome! maybe they got too big for their britches! just to add some credibility to this review... i'm a baker living in florida and my family in france were bakery owners for decades... so i think its fair to say i know a thing or two about what good pastry should be like.

second chance?. we tried to givecarlo'sa second chance recently only because our office is 1/2 block away. service is still rude beyond description. and with that great customer service you now get jammed into the store with tourists taking pictures of...baked goods! wow!!! needless to say, the experience only confirmed earlier review...stay away. btw, we did not even order anything.

not worth it. locals say this place has gone downhill as their popularity has soared. locals now avoid for many reasons.

awesome. best cake ever!
i had the pleasure of ordering two cakes fromcarlo'sbakery in 3 weeks. one from the case and one very elaborate "custom" one that remy designed with me for a bridal shower.
i must admit the cost of the second was a stretch, but the end result was worth every last cent and then some. i would spend that money again in a second knowing what i am going to get from them.
i couldn't have been more pleased with remy and his time given to my consultation, his phone calls to me during the last days in the preparing of the cake and the attention to the detail in the final product. everyone, in the bakery was friendly and polite to me each time i was there even before knowing i was there for an expensive cake.
i will most definitely continue to use them for all of my cake needs. aside from their designs which range from tastefully simple to extraordinary, they truly have the best tasting cakes around.

rude. a friend bought a cake to our "gettogether" and it was delicious. it had chocolate icing and white mousse inside. i asked where he got it from and he told me fromcarlo'sbakery. so i went there to purchase one. the lady looked like she didnt want to be there and gave me the vibe that she really didnt want to wait on me. when she finally did, she didnt know what cake i was talking about and didnt bother to try to sell me another cake. i just left and never went back.

good cake. during the holidays i went down tocarlo'sbakery and spent an hour and a half on line to get two cakes and a couple of platters of cookies and cupcakes. it was well worth the wait! i got a chocolate mocha cake with strawberries that was to die for. i also purchased a birthday cake for one of my relatives that was born on xmas, whipped cream, vanilla cake with strawberries and custard, it was absolutely wonderful and there were cute little rings and so forth tucked into the cake as an added bonus. the cupcakes were amazing i never saw my cousins eat cupcakes slowly before because they knew there were no second helpings and actually savored them! cookies were delicious. it was kind of on the pricey side for all the treats but i'd spend the money again in a heart beat for those wonderful goodies!
