thefoodwas amazing! i'd recommend the chicken and prawns. quick turn around time. genuine portuguese ambience. totally awesome! will be back....three meals was not enough 😂

went there and we were told thatfoodwould take a bit longer! fair enough! after two hours! we got food! my 200 g rump steak was a 100 g! my hubby ordered 1/2 chicken and 400g ribs! the ribs were 100g and the chicken was already cut up into pieces! did not look like a half chicken! music was terrible when it played and then no music for rest of day! looked like they were trying to take short cuts and patching together a meal! we were not happy at all and will never go back! every single table was complaining! if you want cope with the amount of people in your store at once then either book in more staff or take out some tables ! we also have a restaurant and the really overpaid for what we got

had our dads 70th function here with 40 people. was absolutely wonderful from the attention to detail in the setup (so that people can easily socialise) to thefoodprep time and the service, everything was absolutely taken care of and wonderful!foodwas very reasonably priced, lots of specials - great prawns!! great portion sizes, excellent taste and pleasant setup.. will be coming back again in numbers!!

this was the worstfoodi ever ate in my life and the worst service ever from a manger. i ordered a platter combo with hake and calamari. after 55 minutes thefoodarrived. the hake and the calamari was dry and tasteless. i sent it back. when it arrived back it was just as bad. what was worse was that the same calamari that i sent back came back again. they refried the same tought tasteless calamari. they only gave me 4 pieces of calamari with the hake and thought it was fine to charge r138 for this combo. even the side dish of half eaten fried pap came back. they did not even prepare a fresh portion of the side dish. my wife’s chips were not cooked and we sent that back as well. it took 15 minutes for them to return that and that was cold on its return. the manager could only say sorry and blame the kitchen. he had the audacity to charge me full price for for my wife’sfoodalthough we did not even eat all of it as we sent the chips back again. never again!!!

i read complaints about fans not working, but they have an amazing aircon now it's very chilled inside. the service was very fast if not a bit too on the ball. the waitress watched us eating which was a bit weird wish she would have stood out of the way.foodis very nice and tasty, great starters and good mains. pity they ran out of most puddings but it saved us extra calories. nice wine selection. definitely worth another visit. it is on the pricey side though.

very surprised that this restuarant only has a 3.3 rating, we been here at least 4 times and have never been disappointed with the quality and flavor of the meals. today was equally good, i had the chicken and prawn combo (peri peri) and hubby had the chicken and rib combo.foodtook a bit long to arrive but it was very busy so that was to be expected. agree with other reviews that the place needs some updating!

did not like the setting, it had definitely seen better days. no fans working. the service was fast but thefooda disappointment. on a hot summers day i would assume that cool water would be on the table and what about bread? no bread with butter served. what's happened to the good old south african service?

great service, great food! with such a variety offoodat good prices we defiantly making this our local lunch spot! excellent all round we had a lovely time.

my family and i went to caravela on a sunday afternoon after a day trip to haartebeestpoort. we had been there previously and enjoyed it however this time was a major disappointment. thefoodwas below average and the service very slow.
on the positive side we ordered a selection of starters to share amongst the table which were tasty. the haloumi cheese was soft and the trinchado was tender and well seasoned. however the mains were not great. my husband ordered a portuguese steak which was tough with an egg that was still slimy. the chips seemed to be cooked in old oil. my mother ordered sardines which had been gutted prior to cooking resulting in them being dry and my lemon and herb chicken had no flavour and being dry. calamari was also ordered which was actually the best my husband had in ages. it was really soft and very tasty. even with the few positives of the meals, it was seriously disappointing as we have been there many times before and always enjoyed our meal. i was left less than impressed.

service was extremely slow. it was also very hot inside the restaurant, the fans didn't seem to help much. thefoodhowever was delicious and came in a large portion which made up for the slow service.

good portuguesefoodand the huge 800grams espetada is a winner, prepared the traditional portuguese way with coarse salt and fresh bay leaves.
bit on the pricey side but after payday should be value for money.
the seafood  and wine selection are excellent.
found the setting and decor bit boring.
